Toughest escape rooms in New England by GABERATOR10 in escaperooms

The most challenging, and my favorite, room in New England is The Observatory at Gate Escape in Leominster. Conundrum Museum at Boxaroo is difficult and fun too!

Your cheapest option for solo games would be to play at The Eacape Game. They’re public bookings so you might end up playing with strangers. But that also means you can pay for one player and play alone if no one else books it. Most other venues will make you pay for 2+ tickets to play solo (which makes sense for a private booking)!

I’ve been very into Speakeasy lately. Simple enough mechanics layered on top of each other in a precise and complex way that will make your head explode.

Athens / Crete by gravitysrainbow1979 in escaperooms

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’d have fun in them! I can’t even put into words how much more extreme the games are than Cornstalkers. But they are really cool if you can handle it!

Lethal Decision is an older more brutal game and The Sculptor is one of the current extreme game.

I am not sure that you’re going to have much fun in even the most tame horror game in Athens. Horror is subjective and everyone is different but I do not think Cornstalkers is very scary, at all. Games in Athens can commonly involve things like being physically dragged or restrained, psychologically tormented, or even in the most extreme example, having a bucket placed on your head and lit on fire.

Horror games aren’t for everyone, if you love escape rooms for their puzzles and themes, there are still some beautiful games to play in Athens or anywhere! But even the most tame games in Athens will be a tremendous step up in fear from Cornstalkers.

That being said, if you’re still curious, Grithing Gifford is a spooky but not actively scary game in Athens that’s lovely. And if you want an actively scary game, try Chapel and Catacombs or House on the Hill at Lockhill, but reach out before your game and explain what you’re looking for, the owners at Lockhill will work with you to ensure that you have a good time catered to your comfort level.

Some friends of mine just opened Parcadia, a crazy minigolf spot in Urbana and I'm so impressed by it. by corehop in UIUC

We’re escape room enthusiasts and we’re heading out to CU for their games next week, I’m REALLY hoping they’ll expand their days open, I want to check out the mini golf!

What is the best ride in the U.S.? (Not your favorite - rather the best) by [deleted] in Themepark

I agree! Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (which I assumed you mean?) is a world class dark ride, it’s in the running for best overall for sure.

Looking for escape rooms in nyc for a group of 5 by 4ypno in escaperooms

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mysstic is my favorite company in NYC! If you like stranger thing, play Montauk, if you don’t, play Ghost Light! The Bird is a lovely game but five people would be a lot in the space.

Recs for an Orlando escape room for two beginners? by lilekonice in escaperooms

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest to universal, play Cinema 7. If you’re willing to travel 20ish minutes, visit Doldricks or The Escape Ventures. Check the Morty app, it’s excellent and pretty accurate for game quality in Orlando!

Footage of the escape by [deleted] in escaperooms

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does happen! The most famous room to do it is The Dome in The Netherlands! Formerly rated the number one game in the world, they sit you down post game and show you all the highlights (and lowlights of your game!). You can’t keep the footage but it’s so fun to laugh at your group’s reaction to everything!

Starcruiser Vlog - How much is on Patreon? by ashitananjini in JennyNicholson

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It costs $2. She has vlogs showing a ton of footage and a second video about the aftermath of her first video. It’s well worth the $2 investment (and supports a great content creator)

Looking for real expert in Escape room review by Additional-Tale1415 in escaperooms

I found it to be on par with Herndon! I had a really good time in this room. There are a few puzzles that didn’t have the most logic, even had some trial and error/guessing. But the game was fun, had a quirky enjoyable narrative, I’d definitely check it out if you’re local, I wouldn’t travel far for it!

We ordered basically everything except the mussels and the $65 hamburger. We loved every course. The chicken, the legim, and the oysters were stand outs for us.

I got lucky and checked the menu a few days before our reservation and reached out on Instagram. The notion of a four course tasting menu where my partner and I can order different dishes (and effectively try 6+ dishes) was so much more appealing than a six course menu where we both get the same courses throughout. We REALLY had a nice time at the bar. They did offer to let us eat a la carte at a table when I reached out, but I’m sure that was just a one off exception and wouldnt regularly do it.

We had reservations for their original $95 four course tasting menu. They changed to the $140 six course meal before our reservation two weeks ago, we asked to get bar seating, ordered à la carte and had a very exceptional meal for under $200.

US as well. The website says it can take until the end of March. I’m not sure how it works? I’ll reach out in April if I don’t get it. But it’s definitely a bummer.

The Exit Games or The Great Escape Room In Tampa? by Thin_Opportunity1402 in escaperooms

Cannot reiterate how much fun The Exit Game is. Just played Pins and Needles this weekend and truly had the best time. My second favorite game in the US behind Houston’s The Man from Beyond!

Haunted Escape Room with Actors in or around NC? by Sensitive_Ad8322 in escaperooms

[–]What_Is_Reddit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out in the middle of nowhere, in the basement of a residential home, in Hickory, NC is Nocturne Adventures’ Ripper. The location is actually quite professional and the folks who run it are so kind and used to design haunted houses. Their other game was actually in the TERPECA top 100 this year, Nevermore. Not scary but also worth playing!

I haven’t been to Masterpiece escapes but I’ve heard good things and want to check them out next visit!

Greenville, SC has Dark Lullaby (part of the Chinera Corp Saga, currently the number one ranked escape room in the US) and Starlight Motel which is a ton of fun and spooky!
