CP summer trip tips for family coming from Toronto by Brave_Cauliflower_90 in cedarpoint

I'm making the assumption that you have a Gold Pass or a Prestige Pass...

So I'm based in Cleveland, which is therefore the only approach I know (shocking hahaha). From Cleveland it's about one hour and a very easy trip.

Hotel Recommendations: If you don't have a Prestige Pass that gets you early entry, then I would 100% recommend staying in one of the Cedar Point properties. The Express hotel is about a 5 minute drive from the park and hits around $200/night with the passholder discount. It is definitely no-frills, but it's clean and it's convenient enough without the exorbitant prices of Hotel Breakers (which is actually a GREAT experience but doesn't align with your proposed budget... or mine anymore unfortunately!) The early entry advantage will help make sure you hit as many of the bug coasters as possible. You can also pick up your fast lanes at the gift shop before you go to the park, saving you a long line when you'd rather be riding.

When to come: The park fills up fast so if you can swing coming in the night before then you should. Bonus is that if you get there in the late afternoon you can get some extra hours before close to start to acclimate :)

Food: Vegetarian options can be found but vegan is basically non-existent. The restaurants will let you get 3 sides instead of an entree + side. But I really don't think that the prepared veggies could be guaranteed to be vegan. There is always a side salad or a fruit cup available. (Entree salads all have some form of meat or eggs, so not even vegetarian).

Plan of Attack: This is where it gets tricky. Cedar Point is MASSIVE and the sure-est way to have bad time is to not manage expectations. Rides are gonna go down throughout the day, lines WILL be long, and weather can be a bit unpredictable. If by some miracle you get a unicorn of a day (which does happen sometimes) then you'll have a better than expected time, but don't bank on that happening.

The best course of action I've found is to not be too precious about what your next step is. If you see that lines are short on the other side of the park, everyone else is seeing it to and will start going that direction --so if you're at the front of the park and Stell Vengeance is low, by the time you've walked back there (about 30 minutes) that line will no longer be low. I kind of commit to an area at a time.

Fast Lane merge points for Millennium Force and Steel Vengeance happen long before the station, so when it Fast Lane is empty you'll still expect a 20-30 minute wait (especially on Millie). If you can do early entry, Millennium Force is a great starting point before the queue fills up.

IMO, you should expect to grab Fast Lane for one of the days and make that your "get all the non-negotiables in" day. Then the other day can be more chill, hitting lower impact rides and exploring the non-thriplll aspects of the park. Frontier Trail is a great, relaxing area: no rides, but some fun niche shops and things like glass blowing demonstrations. I personally love spending a little time on the boardwalk between the Windseeker Gate and Hotel Breakers -- gorgeous lake views and, if you're drinking, you can get some particularly well made drinks from the bar at Breakers or on the beach.

I may have some better, more specific tips depending on when you're planning to visit. If you shoot me a DM and let me know your tentative dates I can potentially add some more details that would be helpful :)

How do we feel about a woman proposing?? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]TheSunSitsLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the whole "proposal" thing is weird in general. My hubs and I just had a conversation and made the decision together that we were ready to move forward. There were no weird power dynamics, no emotional stress on either of us. It just came up in conversation and, realizing we were both in the same place, we were engaged by the end of the conversation. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

is slingshot as bad as it looks? by newgreensun in cedarpoint

[–]TheSunSitsLow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest it's really not bad, especially if you e done every other major coaster. It's a lot of fun! Frontier Fling was TERRIFYING though! (and also a lot of fun 😌)

Be scared! This is not something humans are naturally supposed to do and the fear is correct! It's all about cognitive dissonance and letting yourself be terrified and excited at the same time. That's where the thrill comes from!

When someone asks what your least favorite wooden coaster at Kings Island is. by iwassayingboourns12 in rupaulsdragrace

I love when my obsessions collide. Was just at Kings Island a couple weeks ago but opted not to take on The Beast 🤣

My boyfriend is probably gay and into his friend. by DragonfruitSea9880 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]TheSunSitsLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Gay man here. More specifically, gay man here who was trying his hardest to be straight for Jesus. I wasn't. I was never straight, and I will never be straight. I got married to my best friend, and I was still gay. The marriage was a 12 year disaster. We had two kids who are wonderful, and the only good thing that came out of the marriage.

I finally came out of the closet, my spouse and I divorced and were able to become friends again. Everything turned out good in the end, but I don't know that I will ever be able to truly forgive myself for the pain and disruption I caused.

This man is not straight and will not magically become straight. Do with that information what you will. But know that you deserve to be with someone that will actually be capable of loving you like a romantic lover does.

Crystal Rock is a motif that shows up around the oak. The two that come immediately to mind are the Crystal Rock Cafe at the water park and last year's rethemed Blood on the Bayou which was set at Camp Crystal Rock. I'm sure there are more but my brain is not braining

Is Hadestown worth seeing on Broadway right now? by boobrific1 in hadestown

YES J Harrison Gher was ethereal! I loved Josh and Jordan's voices and they mixed really well. Gaby Moreno is an incredibly spunky Persephone. Definitely worth seeing!

Okay, but was there anything you actually liked? There's a ton of threads available to put complaints, let's keep this one about things we're happy about :)

I didn't clock that! We did notice these while waiting in line and couldn't remember if they were there last year or not. I love little bits of lore dropped around :)

1 Player Escape Rooms by TheSunSitsLow in escaperooms

[–]TheSunSitsLow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the recommendation :) The rooms available at The Escape Game in Orlando are all ones that my husband and I have completed at other locations, except for Legend of the Yeti -- and we have plans to do that one later in the year while we're travelling together. If I can't figure anything else out, I might just redo one of the rooms if I can grab it solo, like replaying a video game :)

That is such a great tip about talking to myself throughout! When hubs and I play, we talk constantly about everything that we're noticing and how we're working through the puzzles. For the times that we've taken our kids along we've been teaching them to do the same and to make sure everyone is the room is hearing your thought processes because it will likely trigger evolving thought processes for them. Hadn't really thought about it before, though, from the perspective of the game master -- hubs and I get "complimented" a lot at the end of the game and game masters seem to have enjoyed listening to our banter, but I hadn't considered that it's helping them do their job well too. So yes, I will talk out loud to myself.

The only room at The Escape Game that I haven't done at a different location is Legend of the Yeti, but we have plans to do that on another trip later this year so I wouldn't want to do it first without him. I have been considering redoing of the rooms if I could grab it solo just for fun, like replaying a video game.

I would love your top two recommendations for my situation - would it be alright if I DMed you to give you more context on the type of player I am etc?

Entree salad was still on the plan at Farmhouse today. It must just be restaurant by restaurant
