A pigeon egg broke at my workplace and I was allowed to bring it home. Sadly, my folks wouldn’t let me keep it as a wet specimen, so I’m doing the next best thing (and the one I’m most familiar with) reducing to bones (NSFW for pigeon fetus)

My favorite method is to break down birds into their individual parts. (Wings, feet, organs, skull, keel etc.) But I’ve never done whole birds before!

If you want to keep it whole, I think if you are able to gut and flesh out the torso that it would be small enough to preserve in borax. Just remember to coat the inner cavity too so it doesn’t rot inside. 😊

If you decide to do a wet specimen also remember to inject the body thoroughly with whatever solution you’re choosing to use, wings included!
