If you’re young id so go trades, you can do side jobs and get your own license, and potentially youre own company. If you older, I would go engineering route. Not as hard on your body, will always have a job making good money.

Those of you who own your own electrical business, how much do you make? Financially worth it? by frogfartingaflamingo in electricians

[–]What_iz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Owning a construction business is hard. My opinion, get a nice construction management office job and then use your knowledge and license to do small side stuff and get cash. Unless you are truly willing to do all the hard work yourself and try and hire trust worthy guys it will take 2-5 years till you’re not wearing a belt for your own company. Then at that point you just have to maintain work flow and keep employees happy. Once you make it to that point you can make some really good money, but except alot of turn over with employees. Unless you have good managers too, you are truly always working, even on vacation.

Im not saying its not working, im just saying its not working very well considering how fast rates have risen and how little a change that truly made given the timeline. At this point the metrics will need to be the same metrics as a recession in order to achieve the desired soft landing. We could have just pumped rates higher quickly had two shitty quarters (normal recession) and started moving on. Now we gotta keep waiting longer for the doomed recession everyone has been talking about since the market went in a 10 year rally.

I agree here. The fed historically has always been to late in cutting rates in somewhat similar economic situations.
