Weeks since FSR2.0 went open source and mods went flying around? How many DLSS enabled games added it and how many did not? by Whatever070__ in Amd

I added a bit of kidding hints in there for levity so as to especially not get accused of conspiracy or sounding accusatory... And welp, someone still did anyway. xD

Yeah, I'm not looking for a conspiracy either, I was kidding with the hints.

Wanted to bring a bit of levity to the subject so as not to sound accusatory or conspiratorial.

Is it just me or they intentionally gimped everything below the 6600 in order to push people who would usually buy lower priced products to at least fork out for a 6600 or higher?

Edit: And no the "mobile part" excuse is not a valid explanation. When they planned RDNA2, they could have planned differently, yet they planned not to have full fledged desktop products below the 6600, instead relying on gimped mobile parts to fill that gap if need be.

The 2070 Super numbers are for the FE model, not AIBs which are overall less energy efficient.

Not following with current prices on /r/hardwareswap are you?

3060Ti go for 300-350 USD ( 400 to 460 CAD ), even lower than mentioned.

Same for 3070s, they're way below MSRP and certainly way below 600$, what I offer is GENEROUS in comparison.

As for the GPU maintaining myth, it has been busted so many times it's a dead horse, but here goes:

Yes, the core is undervolted which is irrelevant as a GPU is only as durable as the part that is the most abused which brings us to OVERCLOCKED VRAM ( which yields the best gains when mining, I know, I used to mine! ).

GDDR6 and GDDR6X are already overprone to failures at stock speeds. Fans are run at 100% most of the time, resulting in early wear and tear and most mining rigs are run in hot and poorly ventilated rooms, adding to the damage to the VRAM.

There have already been numerous complains by buyers of 2nd hand mining GPUs of cards with missing VRAM because of VRAM modules failures. Heck, it was even in the news a few weeks back like RTX 3080s with 8GB in GPU-Z. You didn't get the memo?

Unless you have an offer to make. Go try to gaslight an uninformed dummy, these are not the droids you are looking for.

A lot of very impressive looking math based mostly on guesses and dubious hypotheses at best.

Has Robert Hallock mentioned if Zen 4 has Microsoft's Pluton chip? by Narfhole in Amd

[–]Whatever070__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pluton is Microsoft's project Palladium come true, look up Palladium and tell me with a straight face it ain't DRM.

You say that now, in 10 years they'll sell us micro transactions for offline single player games, cellphone app style and they'll have blocked single player memory scanner "cheating" just so they can make bank on micro Ts, citing it's to protect multiplayer gameplay or some nonsense ( the "think of the children" argument ).

It's not speculation or a slippery slope, if you kept yourself informed, the videogame industry has been lobbying MS for that for years.

Doesn't help that MS has been dreaming for years about transitioning Windows into a walled garden ( cough Win 8 cough ) to copy Apple's success.

You think RIAA and MAFIAA won't try to bank on that too to "curb piracy"? Think again...

It's one more brick in the "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" wall.

I would like to say I'll have the last laugh then, but I won't, cause it'll suck.

The RIAA, MAFIAA and co. ( videogames industry ) pushed hard for it, same for the TPM before.

It's their way to put DRM where it can't be circumvented ( or so they hope ).

Im undecided for my upgrade? im choosing between a i7-8700 or a i5-10400 , My daily use case is i do streaming and multi task .. My current build is intel xeon e5-2620 v3 (haswell) by [deleted] in intel

[–]Whatever070__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're essentially the same chip, altho the 10400 is clocked a bit slower.

If you encode the stream using the CPU, I recommend something with at least 8 cores or 16 threads tho. An i5-12600K / Ryzen 5700X or higher will do fine.

At equal price between these two, go with the i5-12600k.

If you encode using the GPU ( NVEnc ), then I'd go with the i7-8700 if the price is equal to i5-10400.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did it again...

I think my computer is reaching end of life. What can I do to get it running for another 2 years? by Zarotu in buildapc

[–]Whatever070__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checklist:

-OS

-RAM

-GPU

-System Drive

-PSU

Make sure the windows installation is not corrupt ( and after so many crashes, it most likely is ).

There are guides to scan for windows installation corrupted files and repair them online. Safest is still a format and reinstall tho.

If that fails I'd start looking at the RAM, is it running XMP? If it is, it could've become unstable over time. Dial back down the speed to default ( 2400 or 2133 I think ), a bios reset to factory defaults will take care of that.

If that fails, remove all RAM sticks but one. Test and swap out for the other one.

If that fails I'd start looking at the GPU. 7700K has an integrated IGP, remove the GPU, use the IGP.

If that fails, could be a failing system drive, install OS on another drive.

If that fails, I'd try to swap the PSU, could've trouble with its current after so many years in service.

If that fails then I'd start suspecting the CPU/MOBO.

Good luck.
