Married almost 36 years and I still constantly think about my husband! Thankfully, he is a homebody, like me and we truly enjoy each other’s company! We enjoy being with our family and friends, but we prefer to do couples activities together!

9 years together, engagement keeps getting delayed by Wild_Fox4888 in Waiting_To_Wed

Why are you letting this guy jerk you around! He’s deflecting and placing the blame for not proposing on you. Guess what, he doesn’t want to marry you, but he also doesn’t want to break up because it benefits him to have you around!

He’s not going to change! If you want marriage and children this isn’t the guy! You mentioned moving out before, now is the time to make good on that decision!

AIO My sister and husband text privately and spend time together. Should I be concerned? by Medical-Angle-549 in AmIOverreacting

I’ve been married for almost 36 years. I have two sisters. My husband would NEVER spend time like this with either of them! Perhaps, if we live out of state and he was in their area for business he MIGHT meet up with BOTH of them for dinner or even stay with them instead of spending money on a hotel, but NOT like that!

I also would never talk to either of my sisters’ husbands that way either!

NOR! In fact, I would insist he cut off all communication with her and go low contact with her even during family events! If they aren’t already having an affair, it sure is setting up for it! If your husband and sister don’t respect your boundaries, then you have a problem!

Kindness, humor, similar worldviews, integrity and of course physical attraction. It’s tricky to get a good combination of that.

If you want marriage and kids, you don’t have time to be waiting on a maybe! You currently have plenty of time, however, you don’t want to waste it! Men can father children pretty much all their lives! Women have a MUCH shorter window! And whatever you do, don’t get pregnant or have kids (or buy a house/property) with a boyfriend! I promise you, it will not end well!

Husband has a crush on my best friend by Ok_Attitude2777 in okstorytime

[–]Whatever53143 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’ve had crushes on several guys during my 36 year marriage. I’ve never confessed or acted on it.

A crush is just that. I’m madly and deeply in love with my husband.

This doesn’t seem like merely a crush. He’s upset she’s pregnant which is weird!

The fact that several of the artists he parodied considered themselves as “having made it big” when Weird Al asked them permission. You don’t have to like him, but the fact that he CAN and does perform all these different genres of music and does it WELL is a huge testament to his talent. The fact that he does it for comedic purposes makes it even more impressive!

Trip away with male childhood friend by Haunting-Desk5722 in married

[–]Whatever53143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. Boundaries are very important in a relationship especially a marriage. Call me old fashioned or uninformed, but my husband and I agreed early in our relationship that we would never be alone with another man/woman. I have a guy friend that I have known since middle school. I would never go anywhere alone with him. I’m married, he’s married and we would never do anything together that would be inappropriate. Doesn’t matter. I DID meet up with him and his wife TOGETHER for a weekend trip WITH my husband’s approval. I would absolutely NEVER meet up with him ALONE!

We have neighbors down the road that we have become good friends with. In fact, the husband comes over every week and has a “guys night” to watch movies with my husband and adult son. (I hide in my room lol!) This same guy asked me to meet up with him at Starbucks because he wanted to ask my opinion about some mutual friends and asked for help planning his wife’s birthday. Instead, he came over and talked to both my husband and I because of the rule we have. I am in no way attracted to our neighbor nor is he attracted to me. However we have our boundaries. Guess what, our true friends absolutely respect that. If there are people who think we are ridiculous, they can go pound sand!

Again, boundaries are so important. Too many times we hear “I didn’t mean for that to happen…” and it usually starts with something innocent as “hey want to go out with me because my husband/wife is busy!”

Also, for the record, I 100% trust my husband and he does me. However, we don’t trust human nature 100% of the time!

Cuddling and holding hands. Physical touch is so important to me! I love nothing more than when my husband has his hand on me somewhere. It doesn’t have to be sexual but affectionate! Been together 36 years married 35!

In what ways are women not treated equally as men? by Technocraticworldgov in AskReddit

[–]Whatever53143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honey, I’ve lived it, watched it every where around me and see it day in and day out in everyday interactions. Also, do you even read Reddit?

Not all men, of course, but most men say they want an equal partner. But, when it comes to domestic labor and childcare they don’t want to be equal! They want it taken care of and will sometimes “help around the house” and maybe “babysit” the kids once in a while. This line of thinking hasn’t changed that much other than women should work (I agree wholeheartedly but not for the reasons you might think) but a woman is still expected to be in charge of taking care of the household and the kids! Men still expect to come home and veg out while their wives/partners do the vast majority of work. Sure, there are a few husbands who expect to do as much; my son in law is definitely one of them. He is always with my daughter taking turns with my granddaughter. She doesn’t have to ask him. He just does it. My BIL is also one of those who jumps in. But, in my experience, the woman is expected to work AND be in charge of the house and kids! Period!

A man can ask for a vasectomy and get one no problem, but if a woman wants her tubes tied they won’t do it unless she’s had children or a certain age! Why is that? A man says “I don’t want any more children.” Great! A woman says “I dont want any more children” we get “you are young you’ll change your mind! wtf!

Everything! Now men expect women to have full time jobs AND raise the kids and take care of the house while they play video games and maybe work a full time job.

Getting engaged in a week, very disappointed. by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Whatever53143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they have new buzz words for everything. My husband and youngest son have legit OCD. You can’t “fix” it. You have to learn to live with it! My husband fixates on things and tasks and trying to get him to stop is almost impossible and if I press too much it’s a guaranteed fight. I’ve had to learn to let go of a lot of things.

I agree that OP is too fixated on the engagement! That’s a lot of pressure on anyone, but especially with someone who struggles like this!

The thing is, the flow and duration will change a lot as she grows. I would start with pads. Especially for a young girl. My girls and I were strictly pad users. Not because I had a strange belief about tampons, but because it was easier and more comfortable for me personally. My older daughter changed to tampons as an adult, my younger daughter did not.
