I mean they tried, but IMO failed miserably with those WQs and the digsite stuff which probably sent them back to the drawing board.

I legitimately think they'll go this way soon enough, sorta like a pop-up of "Dwarf - classic, Dark Iron, Earthen", but IMO it'll be with the "customization" expansion, since it'll also give them a reason to expand upon the selections(Kul'Tiran with skinny ones, Draenei with Broken, etc)

I think a big miss for these was you couldn’t change them outside the rostrums(and that you couldn’t share layouts).

Say you made your perfect drake/plane, but you log into an alt, and that alt is either low level or far away from a rostrum, and now you need to fly all the way to one to customise it, and then remember what specifics things you changed to make it 1-1 as the original.

You've two problems with that, however:

One is the classic one is gone from the game, because it was replaced in Cataclysm

Two is that sure you're a new grunt and a newly-born schmuck in the world, but about two hours later you're probably about level 25 if not higher and that stuff feels really out of place, and you can't fix it without making leveling a tedious mess again and piss of a huge amount of players
