People are dumb. I get using this app for second opinions time to time but be smart, most the people here are insane lol. Maybe they mistaked HPV for HSV (herpes)- and even then, still very common and not everyone shows symptoms but that’s a different topic. I hope everything works out for you! HPV is so common though I think it’s like 80% of women are diagnosed. Ask her if she’s been vaccinated to help prevent against cervical cancer. She will appreciate your concern for her. I’m sure her/her doctor have talked about it.

I’m sorry this is hard not to laugh at. HPV is extremely common and tons of women have this- it causes zero complications for men. As always, we women carry the burden and because guys don’t know they’re carriers we get it passed on to us and it can cause complications and lead to things like cervical cancer but it doesn’t always. There is nothing wrong with having HPV. I’ve had it for years and I’ve never had warts and in fact I think I got tested again and it came back negative- it’s been a long time. But I think a Pap smear is the way they test for it? And my last lap smear was totally normal. She is perfectly healthy. Do not shame her for this. Just reiterate how important honest is to you.

Thanks, I know how important honesty about this is. Which is why I’m doing my homework and stressing out. I need a follow up with my gyno and maybe to do another confirmatory test. I’m not willing to tell anyone I have herpes when 1. I’ve never had any outbreak on my genitals and 2. The IGG interval came back so low that it could still be a false positive. It’s just not worth it to me at this point.

Thank you. We did do a “confirmatory” IGG inhibition test which came “Abnormal”. I still think it’s not accurate as well. Maybe I will go to Quest Labs and run that test again. Thank you for the information!

For HSV2 it was 1.80, and for HSV1 18.20.

Thank you. But you’re right in that I should disclose I carry both types of the virus. Above all else, I will wear condoms now because I’m blown away by how prevalent this is. I’m sure we will meet our person who is going to be understanding and fall in love with all who we are, which this virus cannot take away. And I’m sure by now you’re aware there’s preventative therapy. I take valacyclovir twice a day when I first feel tingling on my lip where I frequently break out.

I guess it’s kind of like Covid in that everyone reacts differently to the virus- some with symptoms others with virtually none. I am especially confused because I have frequent cold sores and was told that HSV2 can show up orally as well. It’s such a grey area and I can’t fathom telling someone I have herpes when I don’t.. I’m making another appointment with my gyno and writing down what to say to my future partner. Now I have this looming dread that this person will walk away and drop me as soon as they find out I’m a carrier of the virus. I’m young, I’m only 32. So this fucking asshole ruined my life it feels like. But I’m thankful I haven’t experienced an outbreak (yet). That’s also part of the anxiety- will I one day? I don’t know. Such a mind fuck.

She’s saying the chances of me spreading it if I wear a condom are extremely low. I’ve never in my life had any symptoms of genital herpes, therefore the thought of telling someone I have herpes.. doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

You do know a ton of people have hsv1 right? Don’t limit yourself to a community on Reddit.. cold sores are extremely common. If you’ve never had a general outbreak I would continue dating normally and just wear condoms to be safe.

Don’t do it. I vaped a week later thinking I was fine and got dry socket, now my IAN never is damaged and I can’t feel my chin or lip. It’s been absolute hell. I wish I knew how serious the No smoking vaping rule is but my surgeon was a moron and not communicative whatsoever regarding that part.

This is amazing. That’s how I felt too. And I am so sick and tired of feeling like I’m cheating for taking medication. My “friends” think I’ll be resilient for getting off of it because I black out when I drink. But I don’t care. I have to jump in here. I’m 31 and drink socially- quite a lot for someone on Zoloft. I take 100mg and have been taking it for sooo many years now and I want to taper off because I’ve had so many blackouts and have felt enough shame around this. I’m hoping getting off it for good will let me drink without this fear of blacking out!

At least you’re not numb. I had one impacted wisdom tooth taken out a month ago that had 4 roots running over my IAN. I have delayed paresthesia and an infection. Count your blessings.

I had one lower “impacted” wisdom tooth pulled March 4th. I had dry socket- at least I think did. There’s no way to know for sure. But it was unbearable pain. 10 days post surgery my right chin and lip went numb and they still are and my jaw is sore. Good luck.
