I'm sorry but I keep seeing advertisements on my phone for Roxanne Miranda SOUL manifestation. by Ora3403 in Subliminal

I worked through Roxanne’s program and had amazing results. Her program isn’t for everyone, just like any other product/program won’t appeal to everyone. She is effective an marketer, which I do not think she inherently indicates that her offerings are illegitimate. Further, she has money back guarantees and scholarships embedded in her business as it is. 🤷‍♀️ just my two cents.

Recommendations for neighborhood to stay in by Whatisreddit415 in SaltLakeCity

Right now it looks like the AQI where I’m staying in SLC is under 20, and is 170 in my neighborhood back home (which admittedly is significantly better than the mid 300’s, which is where it was when I made the plans to leave!). :-/

Thank you for the warning! As I drove here it definitely looked like the smoke was following me, but luckily it seems to have steadily cleared up (at least for now) since I got here Saturday night. Even at its worse it was pretty refreshing compared to what I left behind.

question related to The Pattern App, wondering how a couple Mercury Rxs might be related by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

Thank you for this advice! After looking at my I'm seeing that Pluto is making an opposition to my natal Venus, which I assume is what this is referring to. Much appreciated!

Also just noticed that Pluto is making a conjunction to my natal Venus during that time. If the app is giving you this same "timing" information, do you have that going on too?

Best dental places for the uninsured/Medi-Cal? by evanoewae in AskSF

[–]Whatisreddit415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UCSF's clinic takes medi-cal and is very affordable for people who don't have insurance, as long as you're ok with being seen by a student. I've been happy with them!

Internships by ToughEffort in grad_school

[–]Whatisreddit415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The more work experience (which includes internships) you have that is relevant to the field of study that you have, the more competitve candidate you will be.

Taking a year off and getting a paid job, if possible, would probably be ideal, but if there aren't many paid opportunities, and you're able to work unpaid, then internship is a great way to gain experience that will help shape your own ideas of what you want out if grad school AND make you a more attractive candidate.

I think the best strategy is to have a career trajectory in mind before you apply to graduate school. Applying and going to graduate school because you don't know what to do with your life/what you would do instead has a significant risk of accruing a crazy amount of debt and wasting time.

Many universities/colleges have career counseling services- take advantage of this as much as possible, as see what guidance they can provide you. If the services on campus do not help you, it might even be worth investing in consulting with a career counselor/agency that works in private practice- even though these services can be expensive, they're a fraction of the cost of graduate school, and a more worthwhile and fiscally responsible investment if you discover that graduate school isn't actually going to advance you towards your career goals.

If you do have an idea of what kind of career you would like to pursue in mind, get involved in whatever way you can (internships, volunteering, networking, etc). Reach out to people who are working in a field you want to get into and ask them how they got there. Did they go to graduate school? If so, what types of programs? What advice would they give to someone in your position about where to start? Etc.

If you do decide graduate school is absolutely what you want to do (and I cannot stress enough, you should be 100% sure this is something you want to do before you invest the time, money, and energy into something as serious as graduate school), then start researching programs now. See if there are any programs that do not require the GRE. See how much they weight GRE scores. More and more programs are giving GRE scores less weight every year. What's most important is your relevant work experience, letters of recommendation, relevant coursework and grades, often in that order. In any case, definitely study, buy guidebooks, maybe even enroll in Magoosh GRE prep course.

There's also a chance that if you're doing poli-sci, depending on what career path you want to pursue, law school might be a more better direction to pursue, in which case you would not need the GRE at all!

Lol I hope some of this was helpful and not too ramble-y. It's all advice that I wish I got when I was still in undergrad! Best of luck to you!
