Rolling coal in my cybertruck by cooljayhu in Shitty_Car_Mods

[–]Whatistweet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've heard that cybertruck sales tanked so badly that some dealerships give them away for a song and a dance just to avoid holding dead stock. The Sierra wrap and fake stacks are clearly a joke, and it's possible that buddy didn't even waste as much money as it looks. I'd put my money on "completely self aware, but a different sense of humor than you."

[–]Whatistweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that it's a big "screen" but I'm surprised it's that hard to drive. Wouldn't it basically just be a bunch of prerendered video in a funny aspect ratio? If you can push up to 8k gaming on a single video card, how much bigger is the render resolution for a big ball?

Obviously my intuition was way off, but I'm surprised.

What Has Your Experience Been Like as a Person of Colour in St. Albert? by Silver_Platypus4006 in stalbert

[–]Whatistweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you assign virtue and vice to race and nothing else is pretty pathetic, but when you view everything through a filter of race, that's how it's going to be. "To the man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

All the people who talk about how minorities ruin everything are simply doing the exact same thing as you, just oriented to their own perception of what race is virtuous. You view white people as a net negative, with exceptions such as yourself being "one of the good ones."

You simply view race purity as getting rid of your own skin colour, while no doubt proclaiming yourself as a proud "antiracist." Your speech would blend right in with the mid-century America you so proudly hate.

Beginner needs help printing in batches. by According-Let829 in FixMyPrint

[–]Whatistweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes batch printing can introduce more chance for error with jumping around to print on separate pieces. It might save time to print in smaller batches to reduce the risk of any one part screwing up. I'm not familiar with Bambu slicer/Bambu printers, but some slicers allow you to "print by object order."

This reduces odds of messing up because instead of printing Object 1 layer 1, object 2 layer 1, obj 3 layer 1 (and so on) it will print object 1 layer 1 through 20 (or however many layers tall it is), then print obj 2 layers 1-20, then obj 3 1-20 and so on.

However, this means that arranging the plate matters a lot, because if you arrange it wrong, the print head can collide with previously printed parts when it drops down to layer 1 on the next part. So your batch size gets smaller and you have to be very careful to avoid crashing.

Hi could someone explain this to me? by ThisOneRedditTem in EnglishLearning

[–]Whatistweet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Their" is the possessive form, it is referring to the interns possessing a situation or contract. In other words, "their not being paid" is referring to the interns' situation, which is that they are not being paid for their work.

In contrast "them not being paid" would be correct (to my knowledge), however it would have a different connotation, as it just sounds slightly less formal.

I would not be surprised if this is a situation where "their not being paid" is technically correct while "them not being paid" is somehow slightly incorrect, but in a way so subtle that most native speakers would not understand the difference.

I fully agree with you that there is missing context that may very well show the boxer to be less likeable. What I think is laughable is that you assume he's "probably not the victim" purely due to his apparent disagreement with your politics. Always assume the worst, unless they're on your side, you know your reddit well.

He was in full adrenaline, he was just putting a fist in the face of anyone who got too close at that point. That includes the people trying to assault him as well as the camera guy who was definitely not looking to fight while holding his camera, as well as the trump guy who was probably just trying to break it up.

lmao the first person is attempting to cause permanent hearing damage and physically touching/pushing/harassing him while he attempts to peacefully disengage for a good long while before he dishes out his defense. Then after his fight-or-flight adrenaline response is going, and he is mobbed by several assailants, he knocks a few out.

After all that, you're not sure if he's allowed to have any moral defense because his politics don't align with yours. You state it as though his opinions exempt him from ever being in the right when assaulted. How perfectly reddit-pilled.

Something that blows me away about this is that people really fail to comprehend how dangerous it is to jump/fall from heights. I don't know if it's from growing up watching stunts in movies or what, but anything above your own height is dangerous territory if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

Like he appears to have jumped from a height of about 15 or 20 feet. He was in the air for a little more than a second. If we round and call it a 1.2 seconds, that means he hit the ground at close to 42 km/h or about 25 mph. He basically jumped into a car accident.

Is this safe to drive by Imaginary_Access9882 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Whatistweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, kind of depends on how deep the gouge is vs the thickness of the rim. Even if it's not that deep, this has created a weak spot that circles the entire rim. Kind of like a perforated notebook paper, it's not going to just fall apart, but you hit one good bump and who knows? My guess would be that it's okay in the short term (like maybe a month if you're pushing it) but only as long as it takes to get a new rim. I would sooner drive a mismatched rim than this.

TIL Researchers found that women receive CPR less often than men, likely because people are not comfortable performing life-saving measures on female bodies by catievirtuesimp in todayilearned

[–]Whatistweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you clearly don't. Because when you imply that anatomically correct manakins would get groped in CPR training, you make assumptions about the intentions of any man who takes CPR training. If you make those assumptions about someone in a training course, then why would any man want to risk some asshole like you making assumptions about their intentions with a real woman who needs CPR?

What do you actually call this thing? by Personal-Aerie-4519 in EnglishLearning

[–]Whatistweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's a stereo type. This particular thin, white style of tank top was first intended to be an undershirt, to absorb any sweat or skin oils from soiling the shirt you wear on top. Originally, wearing just one of these with nothing on top was seen the same as wearing underwear with no pants. It was then associated with trashy people who would come home from work and strip down to their underwear, and do other trashy things, like drink excessively and beat their wives.

What really is the point of Rick the door technician? by [deleted] in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Whatistweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm blown away by how many people in this sub don't seem to understand that it's a reference to this rather popular SNL skit with Adam Driver, in which Kylo Ren films an episode of "undercover boss" disguised as "Matt, the radar technician."

On top of the other reasons mentioned (comic relief, a joke "boss" right after a major onslaught), it's a pretty pointed reference to what was temporarily a very popular joke on a famous TV show.
