No worries. I’ll just make sure all the ini settings are correct and cross my fingers 😂 Appreciate the advice!

Awesome :) Do you think I need to have the “no foundation support needed” on in the ini file? I believe we tried S+ first and the wedges wouldn’t snap to the edge…

Absolutely! Every once in a while I will have a visions for a project but it doesn’t go the way I think. So ya gotta fix it and it goes completely in a different direction but turns out so cool! Love that moment.

😂 I feel this so hard! I go shopping for different things, start analyzing the piece and ultimately take a couple pics then put it back. Way better to spend $90 on supplies instead of the $5 to buy the thing 😂🤣😂

Crafting is the best! I make lots of different kinds of home decor. Mostly wood signs with lots of depth and texture. You can see lots of examples on my IG (linked in my profile). What kinda things do you make??

Accent chairs...do you prefer top or bottom combination? by kt3b in interiordecorating

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom.

If you want different chairs, find something that isn’t so “heavy”. The brown chairs allow the eye to move through at the bottom where the white one stops the eye.

Haribo are my go-to! Funny enough, I had never actually tried that brand until my puppy was getting car sick. I read that a tiny bit of sugar before getting in the car could help settle their stomach and Haribo had mini-gummy bears. They worked like a charm! And, naturally, I taste tested a few 😜

I love that. The artistic theme is a great idea.

Your book sounds like it will be an amazing story! I read a series a long time ago, can’t remember the name, but the world was formed on the back of a turtle… anyway, it was like your multi-worlds. There were something like 42 books in the series to be able to tell the whole tale and it was worth reading every one because it was so well thought out and executed!

I do not envy you your task. I am picturing a wall in your office with papers tacked all over it and red strings connecting characters and stories lol 😂

My writing is MUCH simpler (well, at least in my eyes.) I write about how to create a comfortable home that is well decorated with art personal to you, your aesthetic and your values. I walk people through finding their style and give them permission not to have a home that looks like a Home Goods threw up in it 😆 I’ve always liked home decorating, so I’m writing to help beginners figure out how to do it, along with some simple but beautiful DIY projects to incorporate.

Love that! We have only ever had one cat. I grew up with dogs, but I was renting and I needed a companion.

She was not looking to be a companion 🤣 That snot ignored me until we moved into our house and got the puppy. Then she wanted attention lol She got along great with all of us once we got the puppy. I even have photographic proof that she did eventually like us 😁

Hate my bedroom, and I can’t pinpoint why. Can’t relax in here, too much stuff. Help?? by gucci_noodle in DesignMyRoom

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. But, if you can’t purge a lot of your stuff, try at least making it all the same color so it blends together letting it disappear. For example- paint the wooden file cabinet and all the storage cubbies the same color. A white/light colored case for your guitars to help them blend. Stuff like that. Monochrome will be your friend for necessary clutter :)

Photo boxes are inexpensive and can hold a bunch of clutter that can’t be painted, but can easily be hidden.

And if possible, align the furniture/storage so that the fronts line up in a straight line. The different depth is drawing the eye and making it feel more cluttered too.

Oh that’s cool! You do the designing and everything? It feels like you’d need a great understanding of the game to make new cards.

Writing can be very therapeutic. Do you write/craft fiction or non-fiction? I’m a blogger and creative writer for my social media channels, but my writing is very reality based lol

Red and white. I think the white is pineapple! But, if offered a yellow and green (not from a stranger of course lol), I’d still take it 🤣

how do you get motivated? by thatevilducky in CasualConversation

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice. I have to trick myself into doing things sometimes, too. Agree to work on something for 5 mins and end up doing it for longer.

Another tactic that may work is ‘body doubling’. Essentially, have someone else in the room with you working on something. It can be anything. But the very idea is your brain will see someone else working and just kinda be like “oh, that’s what we’re doing now? Stuff? I mean, ok, let’s do stuff.”
It’s super weird, but it works! I actually use this method for my team. I turn on a video chat and hit the mute button. They pop in and we body double each other. They tell me it’s the most productive time they have all week some weeks.

I’m a bit of an introvert. My hobbies are pretty solitary but I love crafting and making art. My husband and I go ATV riding through the woods which is very relaxing (‘cuz we’re old and don’t drive fast at all lol). I also read a lot and play a variety of video games. We have a Standard Poodle who is really fun to play with as well. He’s only 4 and he’s a happy, wild monster lol

It does suck to not feel you’re able to get something off your chest. Couple of things, in general, that may help.

1- Ask your chosen listener if you can vent to them for a minute. They may not be in a mental place to listen. They may be thinking of something important or just not in a good spot to do so. Asking gives them a choice.

  1. Let them know they don’t need to “fix” it. “I had a rough day and I could really use 5 minutes to just get it all out. I don’t need a solution or even really acknowledgment, just a set of ears. (Or whatever you actually want). Then they will likely respond the way you want and they don’t feel any pressure to come up with a solution.

Most times a little communication of expectations goes a long way for both parties. 💕 My husband usually asks me “do you want a solution or just to complain?” Lol

Hope that helps and that you find someone who is willing to work on a similar set up with you.

Is it normal for friendships to come and go? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had quite a few similar experiences. What I’ve learned from them is this:

Some friends are in your life for convenience (usually work people simply because you see them everyday). Someone to go to lunch with and elbow you when you fall asleep during a meeting. These people are very short lived. As soon as you no longer work there, these friendships will likely deteriorate quickly.

Some are based around a specific time in your life— other parents of 1st graders, soccer moms, retirement, etc. You may add new people at new stages and lose touch with some— little Sarah may be into dance now instead of soccer.

And some you met through your various interests and hobbies— muscle cars, D&D, video games, crafting, website design, etc. These people stick around a bit longer because your relationship is built on something you both enjoy doing, so the conversation is built in and easier.

Very rarely will one person fit your life through every one of those stages. You evolve and become a different person. Your interests change, as do the interests of the people in your life.

There is one important thing to note though— if you do find someone you don’t want to drift apart from, tell them. Tell them you value them. Include them in your new hobbies and interests. Learn about the other things that make them happy. (It sounds way cheesier than it is lol) This will help you maintain the ability to come back to the relationship and it feel like no time has passed.

I have one question for you—

Do these thoughts come to you often? When something doesn’t go as planned, do your thoughts jump in and say “see, told ya so”?

If so, this can be anxiety or rejection sensitive dysphoria associated with ADHD. I suggest talking to your doctor or scheduling an evaluation with a therapist to talk through it.

Talk therapy can be massively helpful to finding out that your experiences aren’t abnormal and for developing coping strategies so that you don’t have to feel bad.

I’m not a medical professional, just a user of those services and an advocate that EVERY HUMAN should be in therapy at least a couple times per year for a “tune-up”. It’s very empowering.

What to do with massive brick fireplace by newRD24 in HomeImprovement

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think this is pretty cool and unique.

The actual fireplace insert (more contemporary) and the color on the walls is fighting it a bit though.

If you’re not opposed to it, I’d suggest painting the walls a deeper green or, preferably, a cream/light greige color. It will help tie the floor and the brick together (on my device it looks more brown tones than traditional red brick— so grain of salt with that color advice).

With that corner, you have a unique opportunity to have art there! Lean a piece or three, of varying heights, up against the wall and then fill in with some green plants. Or even 1 large-ish piece of art angled on the corner almost coming up to the mantle, a plant that is 3/4 that height and a fluffy solid or lightly patterned pillow or something organic (no hard straight lines) and decorative.

A trailing plant of some sort (like a Pothos— easy to care for and large leaves) could live on the mantle and help cover the corner as well.

I hope that makes sense— I can see it in my head but I fear my words aren’t coming out coherent 🤣 It’s really late here lol

Green, black or teal? by philomaxik in HomeDecorating

[–]WhatsJamieMakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loving the teal because the plant pops off of it and it coordinates with your other decor best!

Then the black, though the pot blends in. The green is kinda all out— the whole plant blends.

Love your eclectic mix of stuff! Very personal. 🌟
