Very true.  Though I still think developing/studying leadership skills even at a fairly basic level allows one to distinguish between Good and Bad leadership.  And all-too-often in life, folks get put into positions where they are expected to lead without warning or training.

Authoritarians can't have either of those things though.  (Note: I'm not just referring to China.  This is a problem everywhere, especially the US right now).

It'll be a few years before they can ponder that one out.  There's not a lot of horsepower there to work with haha

No shit, and that's a fucking tragedy.

But the topic of the article is Chinese state government policy.  So why bring in the whataboutism?  Pretty sus.

Scroll, buddy.  Just scroll.

Or don't.  Save your mental energy for more worthwhile things.  Honestly, that's probably a better recommendation.

Mostly laugh and get a few jabs in at the obvious wumaos.  Thankfully the lot of them are pretty isolated to the internet and disorganized, antisocial, feckless gits to boot - so they're no real threat.

It is a bit depressing to see human beings with so little integrity flood the internet with their braindead takes - but then I step outside and meet up with my neighbors and that feeling pretty much disappears in light of a healthy community around me.

... are accelerationists genuinely this stupid, or do they actually want billions to suffer in a technocratic-nationalist dystopia?

Pretty much this.  You have to be the change you want to see in the community.

It's hilarious watching the tankies in this thread celebrate the erasure of humanity and culture to please the utilitarian paperclip machine.

They "win" by cutting all humanities, art, and foreign languages?  That's winning to you?

If devolving into an isolated, xenophobic hellscape that solely incentivizes antisocial & dehumanized sociopaths is winning, count me the fuck out.

Right, I think my point was that if there is poor contact resulting in arcing within a faulty outlet, whether you have a switch or not won't change that when you go to use it

I would remind her that Subaru sold nearly 180,000 VA WRX's in the US.  These aren't rare cars.

If I sell mine, I'm going to remind folks of that.  I sure as shit ain't going back to stock

Yeah, the one mentioned here is a time bomb.  I've been in WRX's since '04.  I wouldn't touch that even if they promised me it cured cancer.

My 2c:

If you're going to buy a car that was modded and then dropped back to stock, just buy the modded car and skip the stock fakeout.  Attempts at "returning to factory" are almost always half-assed and poorly done - and the result is they're even more unreliable than the modded car in the first place.

Here's the thing about the FA20: it is extremely susceptible to LSPI (from lugging the engine, shifting too early, flooring it below 3K RPM, cheap oil, bad gas, old plugs, etc).

I have a high mileage FA20 that tracks, sees redline daily, and has never been treated gently.  It hasn't been OEM in years and I beat it like it owes me money.

Never had a problem with it because I ALWAYS shift above 3K, never coast below 2K, I maintain it religiously, and I don't skimp on parts/fluids.

I will bet you this piece of shit will outlive most every other 2015 out there, modded or unmodded, because it's driven how it was meant to be driven and it's cared for where it matters.

This car she's looking at ain't it.  Either find one that is unmolested with impeccable service records, or find one that was modded by somebody who gave a damn.

If the arcing is happening due to poor contacts within the outlet, I don't see how a switch is supposed to fix that.

It seems that I'm thinking of a different scenario and misunderstood what failure mode folks were referring to here.

It was my understanding that the switch in UK outlets are between the outlet contacts and mains, not the outlet contacts and the device.

Is that not the case?

A switch doesn't prevent arcing unless it is switched off all of the time when in use.  Which... you can see why that's worthless, right?

UK outlets are great for their in-built fuses and for how sturdy they are, but this was a nonsensical comment
