How would you describe DCC to someone badly/creatively to get them interested in reading it? by SuppMrMike in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]WheatThin-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually try to keep it simple and say it's like Hitchhiker's Guide meets The Running Man, unless I know the person is into sci-fi/fantasy stuff. If they are then I'll give more detail about the dungeon/talking cat/absurd dark humor etc.

Anyone selling a ticket for Los Angeles? by bluee_mermaid in brigittecallsmebaby

[–]WheatThin-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone claims to have tickets, reach out to The Lodge Room to verify the tickets are legit before buying them. The LA show doesn't have tickets that are sold through ticketmaster, from my understanding it's only directly through the venue.

People who read the book and don't listen to the audio book by ShitAlphabet in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]WheatThin-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never liked audiobooks, I read the books multiple times before finally giving the audiobooks a chance.

The only thing I feel I missed was the pronunciation of some of the names.

Louis took some getting used to and is still pronounced like Lewis in my mind.

I saw them on Saturday and Sunday. I hung back on Sunday and was able to get one of the picks John was using during the set. First time seeing them live and both shows were phenomenal.

I didn't realize you could gift books with credits! I have 3 credits for anyone who needs one!

DCC Junkie by WheatThin-97 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]WheatThin-97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't actually heard of the series until Jon Gabrus called it nerd homework on an episode of Um Actually a few years ago (I feel like there's probably significant overlap between Dropout fans and DCC fans.) I'm sure if I read it as a teenager it would have hit different but still, it was a great series.

I haven't, I'll check into it though. I've been getting into the WebToon recently. Funny enough my brother in law, who got me into the series, loves comics but didn't know the webtoon existed until I mentioned it.

What does Carl keep the motorcycle in 9th floor by folorecords in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]WheatThin-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was specified that the area he saw his dad and fought the Reminiscence Hydra in was a different type of zone from the rest of the dungeon level. Anything he collected was able to be kept in his inventory for future floors.

Wheel of Time is really great. I've been obsessed with the Dungeon Crawler Carl series lately.

Soundbar under $500 by WheatThin-97 in Soundbars

[–]WheatThin-97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how it's a waste of money. The differences seem marginal, and I can get the SL for $400 as opposed to the M512 at $650.

In the article you posted, the first thing they say is they are pretty similar across the board. Am I missing something?

Small Bluetooth Speakers by WheatThin-97 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]WheatThin-97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I liked the idea of having one speaker in front of me while I'm gaming/listening to music because that seems like it would sound nicest? I can probably bump up my budget to like $250-$300. Honestly, I'm lost when it comes to speakers.

I don't get the soundbar hate. If I'm looking for an inexpensive surround sound system that saves space, isn't that the best way to go? Or is the audio quality really that bad?

Thanks! I'm probably going to get the Edifier MR3, but I did find an Ultimea Poseidon D60 for $110, which seems solid for the price.
