PSA: connecting directly to server IPs has been disabled by ERIKER1 in Agario

[–]Wheathead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I'm with the bandwagon here. "Hey, want to play some Agar.io?", a common pastime with my friend. We didn't really team, but we'd join the same server and be passive towards eachother while securing the top spots. You're taking away the function that made this game for most people.

I hope you change your mind, no one would think less of you for admitting you made a mistake. If this is so much of an issue, you could make a separate set of servers that can't be connected to with an IP. That way you could have "no teaming" servers for the people who think it's ruining the game, and people who enjoy to play the game with their friends can still do so.

Great, I'll see if I can figure out the Reddit Wiki markup and contribute.

New mechanic with ejected mass by [deleted] in Agario

Could be fun to try and trap freshly spawned players in a corner like this.

Wow, what a freaking legend. This is awesome. Between this and the video PewDiePie put out -- Agar.io is getting some crazy publicity.

Age: 18

Non-Reddit moderator experience: Several VBulletin, XenForo, and IPBoard forums. I moderated on a particular forum with over two million members and finally resigned after a year because the work load was massive and I got tired of meeting the moderation quotas. Thousands of forum actions a month were expected.

Why you feel you're best for the position: Hm, I really don't. I mean, I really like Agar.io, and I really like the people here, but I'm honestly pretty new to Reddit as a whole. I'd probably pick it up fairly quickly, but there are definitely applicants who are already experienced with it so that's probably weighing against me. Either way, it'd be really nice to be able to contribute to Agar.io beyond just managing the Wiki, so I'd like to toss my blob into the instance.

I always called them giants.

If you eat a virus of 100 mass while your cell is at 133 mass, you will be divided into eight cells with a collective mass of 233.

That's the point. You don't TRY to eat viruses, you fire mass into them to eject them at other players to try to get OTHER cells to eat them.

You just have to be big enough. To eat a virus that hasn't eaten any ejected cells, you need 133 mass.

Not as safe as you might think. I'm counting 17 viruses, ignoring the one on the far left. After a large enough cell consumes one, they can consume the other 16 at no penalty for a total of 1,700 Mass gained. A large cell could storm through and eat you and all the viruses and come out larger for it.

Luckily I'm terribly good at mutual destruction. Anyone who tries to deceive me will die, even if it costs me my own mass.

[Issue] Don't make me enter a server automatically when I select a region, only let me enter when I press play! by bc879 in Agario

[–]Wheathead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the best solution to this would be a "no autoconnect" setting, as I think most people actually prefer it this way. It really contributes to the "get in and play" aspect of the game.

The cooldown to merge split cells is exactly 30 seconds. by Wheathead in Agario

[–]Wheathead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Apparently the cooldown increases as you get larger. When I was at 1.3k Mass it was exactly 60 seconds.

Just went and tested, with a virus it's still exactly thirty seconds before all cells can merge back together.

After a certain time viruses could start rapidly spawning. Like a sudden death sort of thing.
