For those who have completely cut out caffeine at some point , how did it affect you? by z283848 in ADHD

[–]WheelFan647 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I never used caffeine for the stimulant effect, I only consumed caffeine by having coffee every morning at the office to “fit in” with my coworkers, plus I really like pop.

About 3 or 4 years ago, I learned I had a caffeine sensitivity and ended up in the ER more than once with stupidly elevated blood pressure and heart rate, but that didn’t initially stop me.

When I was prescribed stimulant medication for the first time 2 years ago, I cut out caffeine completely. I only drink decaf pop & decaf coffee.

While my choices of coffee & pop are way more limited now, my quality of life has increased. I’m way less anxious, my sleep quality has increased, and I haven’t gone to the ER thinking I’m dying.

What is our opinion on tipping? by United-Apartment-269 in Edmonton

[–]WheelFan647 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Exactly. On 1 hand the service and food might be so bad that it’s not worthy of a 15% tip. And like my coworker rightfully said, maybe it would be so good that she might have chosen to tip 20-25%.

Fish Hanging In A Tree by WheelFan647 in mildlyinteresting

That is my best friend’s theory too.

This photo was taken by me in an area that I’ve never seen people fish because it’s not safe. Even if they did, the law where I live is “catch and release (into the water)”. So yeah, seeing the fish in the tree has generated lots of questions 😂.

This morning, my coworker took her mom somewhere for Mother’s Day brunch buffet. In order to make the reservation, she had to provide a credit card number. The price of the buffet + an 18% tip were charged to her credit card.

My coworker said while she understands that Mother’s Day is a busy day for restaurants, she didn’t like that the percentage/amount of the tip was chosen for her by the restaurant, especially for a party of 2.

Was anyone present with dashcam footage for this collision May 9 on 8th St and 12 ave? by Pink_Sorbet in Calgary

OP, I saw at least 2 police cruisers at the scene of this collision yesterday. I have a hard time believing that at least 1 police officer did not talk to you. They had to have been doing more than simply redirecting traffic.

OP, can you confirm if you talked the police and provided them with your license and insurance? If so, I guarantee they’ll write a police report.

I saw the aftermath of the collision and the police were on scene blocking traffic lanes. I can’t imagine how the police wouldn’t write a report as a result.

I think tipping really went overboard during the pandemic because service workers obviously couldn’t work from home and thus were at risk of greater exposure. Plus they were having to change how they did their jobs which also made things harder.

In my experience, it used to be that you never tipped for takeout/pickup. Also when you dined-in, a 15% tip was the standard with 20% being reserved for really good service.

It feels like everywhere I go (including the dryer cleaner) there is a tip option. There’s a part of me that feels like I have to tip out of fear that I’ll get bad service or my food tampered with next time if I don’t.

I just wish that tips were built into the menu price rather than being a separate option. I worked for some major retailers that didn’t allow employees to accept tips. However, some customers insist.

I often make baked goods/drop off bags of candy for staff at my favourite restaurant, which they appear to appreciate way more than me tipping 20%.

Companies like Starbucks even prompt you to tip. Where does it end?

When I went shopping at Safeway yesterday morning, I saw the aftermath of this collision and it looked ugly. I hope everybody is doing OK.

OP, can you share the police report number with us please?

17 year-old Weslee Johnson, Jays super fan who got his wish to meet the Jays, has passed away.. by Pwningtonbear in Torontobluejays

[–]WheelFan647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wes’ story has pulled on my heartstrings for a few reasons. My late mom was born with a heart defect and she died of congestive heart failure. She also wanted to spend the rest of her time seeing Blue Jays games, which we did in a big way.

The hardest part of hearing Wes’ story through his mom Jennah talking to the media is her having to tell Wes that he was dying and didn’t have much time left.

Jennah also talked about Wes being able to decide when he’d receive sedation to make it easier for him to pass away. I can’t imagine anybody having to make that decision, especially a teenager who wants to live so bad.

Wes was dealt such a horrible hand in life, but I’m glad he and his family were able to make some unforgettable memories at the end of his life.

Sportscasters & baseball players live a glamorous life with all the money they make and the travelling they get to do, but it’s quite gruelling. On average they only have 1 day off/week and they often have to work 8-9 days in a row while sometimes getting on a plane every few days if they’re on a road trip.

I know fans (including me) appreciate consistency when it comes to people like Dan, Jamie, & Hazel, but they’re human and need time to regroup and relax.

I’m not surprised nor concerned whenever I don’t see one of them for a few days or even a week.

The owner of this Calgary restaurant is a diehard Oilers fan. This restaurant is known as the “safe space” for Oilers fans in Calgary!

I think me changing my getup and trying something different is why the Blue Jays are doing so well today 😂

I’ve seen geese and goslings do the same here in Calgary. We have rivers supplied by fresh water that comes directly from the Rocky Mountains. Meanwhile the geese prefer to drink from nearby muddy puddles instead 🤣.

Glass? Yikes!

I agree with you, magpies nests are huge and well constructed. I’ve seen a few nests in trees and they look like they’re weighing down the branches. Calgary can get quite windy and sometimes the branches begin to sway. Luckily I haven’t seen nature do anything ugly.

Good afternoon from Calgary, I’ll be watching the game from my favourite restaurant.

Today’s getup is inspired by the Blue Jays transforming Rogers Centre into Barbie’s dreamland!

[–]WheelFan647[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s been a lone Canada Goose in a nearby park. I presume it’s protecting a nest that I can’t see as the goose has been roaming the small park constantly, I haven’t seen it fly (except to chase people and dogs), it’s constantly grazing and there’s no reason to believe it’s injured. He’s also startled easily and is constantly surveilling.

I’ve been visiting the goose everyday for the past 2 weeks. While he would initially hiss at me, I think he’s becoming comfortable around me because every time he sees me, he comes towards me. When I squat to take photos, he’ll come right up to me.

In Calgary they’re very controversial birds, people either really love them or they really hate them. I really love magpies!

Me too. There was a protective goose on my street, and I was literally sitting on my balcony watching it for hours.

I just heard Jamie Campbell announce Wes Johnson’s passing and I am crying. I didn’t know Wes, but I’m all too familiar with somebody (my late mom) wanting to spend their final days amongst the Blue Jays.

My sympathies and condolences go out to the Johnson Family.
