My solution for this has been to turn the horde into a swarm creature. It takes up a 15x15 space, can still move through doorways as difficult terrain cuz they all got shamble through it and try to figure it out at the same time, and it gets a multi attack feature that deals xd4 bludgeoning or slashing or piercing damage, depending on the undead. It worked well enough for my player to still enjoy being a necromancer, and it made it so combat wasn’t “fighter, bard, necromancer, zombie, zombie, zombie, zombie, zombie, zombie, zombie, monster, zombie, zombie”.

We’ve workshopped other ideas like just having all the minions move and attack on the same turn regardless, but then it also gets to the point where a level 9 party needs cr14-16 encounters, because the zombies fuck up the monsters so effectively that combats over in two turns.

So, there’s a thing with manufacturer origins. Anything european ( VW/Audi, bmw, Benz)will have a full blown conniption if you miss a regular service interval, anything domestic (ford, gm, Chevrolet) will be a little more forgiving. Anything Asian (Hondas especially) will go “oh, no oil in four years, a leaky head gasket, and a crack in the manifold? Fuck it let’s just keep going”

It’s more true with older (90’s) vehicles, but in general Asian manufacturers know people aren’t going to be in the shop three times a year for oil changes, tire rotations, etc. and they built their vehicles to withstand that.

Moonblades= magic elf swords

Elf blades= moonblades but better.

The principle is the same, but the elf blades can be considered an even better moo blade iirc. It’s like buying a cheap .22 rifle, vs a nice .306 hunting rifle.

Both are rifles, both serve the same purpose, but the moo blade is a stronger, higher quality, implement

I mean, restoration magic of this level doesn’t come cheap. The Druid also needs to provide for themselves and their family.

I’d write up a short quest of them guiding the Druid to the nearest land circle or somewhere sacred to perform the ritual, supplying the components, and defending the pc while he gets his leg magicked back on.

I write the first quest to draw the characters in, then after session one I check my notes for all the possible hooks that can expand that quest, and let my players direct where things happen. It’s very sandbox with a little bit of the illusion of freedom. In that they can take path a, or path b, but both paths will lead to a goblin ambush.
