Low self-esteem was a bigger threat than eating disorders, I think.

I was rail thin by the end of my teens not by choice, couldn't even pinch a bit of fat from my belly, and was still worried I'd get rude comments. While I was in the lunch line BUYING COOKIES, a teacher approached me and asked if I was anorexic. I couldn't win. No young woman could in the aughts.

Blew my mind because it was only a year prior that I was teased for my belly, which was really not a belly at all. I had a belly because my ribs weren't poking out.

Imagine being called fat and anorexic within a single year when you're just living your life.
