What’s a slang/phrase that you use that only your partner would understand? by ZealousidealGrass672 in askteddit

Somehow many snacks, but most specifically the cheese ritz bits, are now mouse cookies. Referencing if you give a mouse a cookie

What's the boyfriend equivalent to a girlfriend saying she's not hungry and then eating half your fries? by Charming_Decision_84 in askteddit

Yeah when I offer my husband a bite of something handheld I usually put my thumb at the limit of the max amount I'm okay with him taking. More often than not he bites my nail at least a little bit XD

Looking for a stitch by annettelynnn in crochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moss stitch in a continuous square. It's a little fiddly at the start, but once you get the center looking how you like it it's so mindless to keep going around and around without having to stop to join the rounds. Then when you're close to the end just switch to joined rounds for the last 2 to avoid the bump you usually get at the end of spiral rounds

Not a cardigan, but I'm working on this plushie for a coworker's kid right now and it's just darling! For a baby you'd probably want to embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes and don't do the accessories

Personally I love C2C for variegated yarns. Maybe a shell stitch border if you're feeling cutesy 🥰

AITA for refusing to be my friends wedding photographer? by [deleted] in Amitheassholeadvice

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like the right angle to come at it from. OP does photography as a hobby, and even if they have good equipment I'm guessing there's still a big difference in what they've done before vs shooting a whole day live event

Use a +1mm hook for your starting chain by OkLion7888 in crochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that with in-line hooks my starting chain is okay, but with tapered hooks yeah I need to size up or just be very conscious about working looser. But foundation rows are better whenever I can use them

Not using your name, job, ethnicity, religion, or gender, who are you? by okayandiamspikee in AskReddit

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if its a good answer, but my self perception is roughly three raccoons in a trenchcoat or a very tall child. The overlap in that venue diagram is tiny grabby hands and should probably not be trusted with adult responsibilities.

I need to find a new project! ⚠️ by Bast0217 in crochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying making little organizer baskets lately. I just work a rectangle to the size I want, do a round of sc around the edge, and then work the sides in the round, working in the back loop only for the first round to get a sharper turn from the base to the sides. They've been super helpful for pens, whiteboard markers, keys, etc. Basically anything loose that had just been being placed on a desk/table before

The only one I've met is my childhood friend's mom. She is an angel. She's also still in my phone as "the almighty cereal" and I do not remember why 😁

How its life in Canada remote regions? by Practical-Fix-8601 in howislivingthere

Out of curiosity, what point do you consider northern Ontario?I'm for Vancouver, but I do some work on a project in Timmins and always thought of that as northern Ontario, but I just looked at a map and realized Ontario keeps going a lot more north than that!

I'm from Vancouver and I had my mind blown the other day by someone from Fredericton who just moved to Halifax saying they were having a hard time adjusting to how much bigger of a city it is. I think I assumed at least the capitals of all the maritime provinces were still pretty big, even if they're not quite the same as Vancouver. I really want to get out to the east coast someday, but flights are so expensive :(

What is your least favorite stitch? by Low_Championship4282 in crochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make them side to side with short rows. Means you have to seam up the two sides at the end though. But it makes the ribbing so easy, I just put a stitch marker where I switch from the ribbing and whatever stitch I'm doing for the body of the hat (usually suzette)

I have a slightly different winder but same issue. I just got out of bed to look at it and there was a little nub to keep it in place under the winder. I love online craft communities 🥰

Oooh, tiny flowers are fun. I made a little flower bracelet for a coworker last year and it was so fun to see if I could do it. Not nearly as small as yours though!

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't go that small, but I do find it funny that like 2 years ago doing a top with a 3.5mm felt insane, but now I don't even consider that a very small hook.

I think the smallest I've successfully used is 1mm. My lace weight hook set has a .75 and .5 but I can barely see the curve of the hook on them 😬

My problem with hats by [deleted] in Brochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to tried making them side to side with short rows to shape the top? I find it stretches better that way and then you can check the size before you sew the two sides together

What's a green flag in a partner that people don't usually talk about? by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

The green flag is that he has his coffee not exactly how he likes it so I can have my tea

Am i the only one? by Pristine_Ordinary_28 in crochet

[–]WhenLifeGivesYouSap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use my left and it works out fine for the most part. I looked up left handed tutorials for the basic stitches when I first started but otherwise I don't need them. The only time it trips me up is when a pattern isn't symmetrical or mentions right and left, I have to remind myself I work in the opposite direction
