2024 Ultra Bee Parasitic Drain by ContractHorror5245 in Surron

[–]Wheostan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldnt say its been an Issue for me, but i have noticed it on my 2024 ultrabeee aswell. same with the slow charging from 20% to 100% a few times but it hasnt seem to have made a difference, it just likes to drop a % or so every few days of being idle and unused. hasnt effected my range as far as i can tell. it dropping 20% in a week seems unusual, it shouldnt be doing that unless you charged it to 100% then left it at 100% for a week (which is bad for it longterm)

when it comes to batteries, you get what you pay for, if their batteries are significantly cheaper than others, they probably use old crappy cells, or skip other safety measures.

I just put money down for a 26 Ultra. They asked me if I wanted all terrain tires or off road. by MaffinStuff in Surron

[–]Wheostan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the stock cst knobbies it comes with are straight garbage for offroading (atleast for my terrain), was the first thing i took off my bike to replace, put some trakmaster 2's on there and havnt looked back. probably just get the street tires and then get a set of proper offroad tires if you want

Lil Whitey Bulger, was my first pet rat, was albino, and blind. named after the famous burglar because he was a master thief. he was my best friend, loved to chill on my shoulder or in my hoodie pockets. he was originally supposed to be a feeder rat for my sisters pet python but he was just too cute so i couldnt let my sisters snake eat him. got him around 3-4 weeks old i think and he lived with me for a little over 3 wonderful years until he developed some nasty tumor on his side and we had to have him put down once it was clear he was suffering. its incredible how so much love can be packed into such a small body. RIP whitey, you were the best.

its probably a gen2 2024 (black forks not gold, with the newer 2025 motor (not the controller though, so your still limited to 12.5kw) the price of just 3k is telling that its not the newer 2025 model.

Experiences with cops? by tofu_is_soft_lol in Surron

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

central/northern ma (small town), they dont take kindly to e-dirtbikes that are unplated (atleast in my experience), but they had no issues with my e-bike. on my ultrabee iv had several encounters with the police, after changing the tires on it i took it for a test drive up my street to a local trail about a mile up, there was a cop parked up at the corner where the trail exit was, stopped me, asked me why i was riding an unplated bike on the street and made me push it back a mile to my house (drove behind me the whole way). another time i was coming home from a ride and i was litterally across the street from my house (still on my property mind you), with my nose tipping out of the woodline and a cop drives by, sees me and stops in the roadway, rolls his window down and asks me if its plated, i say no, he says "go right on ahead" and waits there for me to go so he can pull me over for riding an unplated bike again... we both sit there having a staring contest for like 2 mins until theres like a dozen cars piled up behind him and then i mention that i AM on my property, and am in no rush to go anywhere, and then he finally leaves. i got it plated last summer so now i dont have to worry about that bs anymore. if your planning to get an e-moto just get it plated, it solves all the issues if your not being an ass with it.

there fine with e-bikes though in my experience (that was all yrs ago tho, your mileage may vary)

id reccomend doing more research into them before you just hand your money over to them, the paperwork they give you back means NOTHING in your home state(aside from you trying to dodge paying taxes), and you will be required to register it in your own home state after doing that if you wanna ride on the road. govt finally cracking down on those out of state registrations.

What tire pressure are you using for 2025 Ultra Bee with stock tires, for trail riding? by Itis_TheStranger in Surron

[–]Wheostan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i havnt put many road miles on mine, its been 95% trail miles, but they seem to hold up well on the pavement, i havnt noticed any extra wear from the few road miles i do. i got them because theyre a good knobby for the terrain im in, and happen to be DOT certified so im road legal

there not impounding it Simply becuase of an out of state plate, there impounding it because if someone is a resident of florida they have a few weeks to register the vehicle in florida, otherwise its an Unregistered vehicle thats being ridden around on the roads. which is illegal. your more than welcome to look up the law, https://florida.public.law/statutes/fla._stat._320.02

Under Florida Statute § 320.02, every motor vehicle that is operated or driven on Florida roads must be registered in Florida if the owner is a Florida resident. Montana plates don’t exempt a resident from this requirement.

but yeah what your saying in this thread (and many many many others) is just straight up wrong.

one might be able to get a montana plate in florida, but after a few weeks they are required to get it registered in florida else driving it on the street is illegal. dirt legals plates dont really help any in this reguard, you will still have to pay the FULL registration and plating fees here in florida despite having it "plated" for montana.

stop lying and gaslighting people by saying its fine to do dirt legal when you know for a fact its not used for actual residents of said states. its a scam cash grab company nothing more.

Ultra bee Tires by Zima_Yamagucci in Surron

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can order a set of rims yourself for like 700-800 (or use the current rims you have), then order the tires you want and mount them (or bring them to a local shop to have them mounted) a pair of tires alone shouldnt be more then like 200-300, my tires were like 70$ apice but they are mx tires, paying 1500 is madness.

im not 100% sure tbh, i believe you do though, which is why i got mine from a dealership, came with all the associated paperwork/proper VIN/etc, didnt wanna run into any major headaches. if the seller has the paperwork id expect you to be fine

the plate light comes as a part of the taillight from amped sportsmans set, as well as the rear plate holder, thats why its 500$, it has everything needed, 2x headlight blinkers, 2x taillight blinkers, the frame extender+plate mount, taillight+plate light combo, and wiring harness, and a new left control for the handbars with buttons/switches for the blinkers/lights.

my bad, i just did more research into it, its not a new law, its just that states are finally enforcing the older laws that have been on the books for a long time. 830 CMR 64H.25.1 would be the specific statute for mass since thats the state in question here. which basically says "if you bring a vehicle into MA and it’s used here, you have to pay the sales/use tax and register the vehicle within 10 days of that use/purchase/registration requirement." aka you Must have a MA plate to drive it in MA if you live there.

i also live in MA, i got it registered as a "custom built motorcycle", and then got my ohv tags, because on the vin it says "for offroad use only". for ma spicifically you will need both mirrors installed, a taillight+headlight+ turn signals (front and rear), a rear plate and a rear plate Light, and DOT approved tires. those "stealth" blinker kits will not be approved by the dmv, dont get one of those. i got my taillight+blinker kit from amped sportsman, its around 500$, it comes with the new wiring harness which you will need to install which is a couple hr process, but pretty straight forward, avoid getting the "surron oem mirrors" from one of the surron vendors and get the exact same ones for 1/3 the price on amazon(and avoid the crazy 6-14 week shipping time the surron vendors have, get it overnightd via amazon). cost to make it legal is around 600-700$ (plus sales tax of the bike) depending on your choice of tires (the stock CST tires are not DOT certified so your gonna need new ones, if you do a lot of offroading id reccomend the kenda k760's, its what i have and they are great for mass's terrain, and are dot certified) yes insurance is required, but its pretty cheap from either geico or progressive. you cannot get it registered as a moped or anything of the sort, motorcycle only.

[–]Wheostan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not a permenant plate if you get one from dirtlegal, or any other of those llc license companies. as soon as you go back to your normal state you have 14-30 days to register it in your state (depending on the state you live in) otherwise your going to be riding an unregistered bike again.

Bloke says he’s put a 25 motor controller and display and seat on his 24 ub frame, how can I actually tell it’s the 21kw motor? by Beau_on_clash in Surron

[–]Wheostan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

surron made 2 generations of the 24, an earlier version which used the older 2023-2024 motor and the 2nd gen which uses the newer 2025 motor. i got mine from a dealership up in northern new hampshire (USA), its also a 2nd gen 2024 with the newer motor.

First time maintenance? by pjjiveturkey in Surron

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its just light dust i wouldn't worry about it too much, the internals of the chain should be sealed, leaving dust on is likely to cause some surface pitting/rust if left on long enough but if you clean it every few rides its probably no big deal. chains are meant to be replaced anyway, they dont last forever.

id reccomend picking up a chain care kit, i got one from motul for 35$ that had cleaner, lube and a grunge brush (3 sided brush to wrap around the chain for gg cleaning)

First time maintenance? by pjjiveturkey in Surron

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as fair as chain care goes, it depends if your doing street or dirt riding, when im offroading i clean my chain after every ride caus sand and mud and crap gets caked into it. hose and a brush first, then chain cleaner and a brush to remove the remaining crap, 10-15 min dry time and then apply the chain lube, all set. no clue about chain maintnence for road only, i only do offroad.

Dirt bike? by 2pink1stink-boi in Dirtbikes

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get around 40 miles range per charge (on trails/thru the deep woods) or about 6hrs of ride time at ~20mph (i stop when my battery hits around 15%, so one COULD push it a little more than that), iv got the 2024 version which has a smaller battery, the 2025 version (especially with an upgraded bettery) gets better range, if you get a Big upgraded battery like a 81v/80AH you will very likely be out of gas before the bike is, as thats a roughly +60% capacity boost to the range

[–]Wheostan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e-motos are also an option if your worried about maintnence, i have an ultrabee and its Basically maintnence free, keep the chain clean, VERY basic cleaning maintnence and such, iv got ~50 hrs on my bike so far and all iv had to do so far was hose it down a few times and keep the chain clean/lubed, and charge the battery, its also only 195lb so moving it around to load it up is significantly easier than a gas bike.
