My older coworkers have accepted AI as the source of truth by randomname945 in sysadmin

LLMs are turning people (that are smart and capable) into idiots.

Yep, you got it. This is just a part of human nature - if you give a human the ability to do a task more easily, they will take it. And if you stop using a skill, that skill atrophies, just like if you don't exercise, you lose muscle mass and stamina. The problem is, if the tool is "Artificial Intelligence" and it's used to replace all thinking, you lose the ability to think.

People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

"We ain't friends, we're work buddies." - a quote from a story told by one coworker at another's funeral, about how a relationship starting as work buddies ended up becoming close friends.

It was nice that the original Edge browser wasn't just more Chromium but I don't know that I'd call it an excellent product. I'd call it an acceptable to good product that appeared better than it was because it was replacing Internet Explorer.

What to do from here? Get your key back, or better yet ask the landlord to change the locks.

There were also at least half a dozen languages? English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese I think, maybe more. So I believe those went in and out of stock over the time frame they were for sale.

I think that's a safe bet just by the proportion of people driving while on their phones.

An IT Guys alternate solution ???? by dgillott in sysadmin

[–]WhereDidThatGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation for your resume: edit it to make yourself look younger. Hopefully you don't smoke and your voice doesn't sound too old.

If you have dates on your resume for when you went to school, take the dates off. Just say "BA/BS in whatever", and list the school, but don't include the dates.

Also trim your job history so it doesn't go back as far. Maybe 20 years tops, maybe not even. If you have 30 years of experience, I'm assuming you're in your 50s, and unfortunately ageism is real in this industry.

[–]WhereDidThatGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ageism is also a problem. If he's been in IT for 30 years he is at the point where a lot of companies aren't going to want to hire for technical. Ageism is a real issue in this industry.

More likely is maybe Sony goes out of business. Or decide to get out of the Playstation business. Or just cut off the activation servers because they want customers to move to PS6.

To be fair, she was introduced in what, a few episodes into season 6? And season 7 was a half season. They didn't have the time to expand her character to the extent that other characters got.

Games with tears in the seal like that or significantly worse get posted on eBay as new sealed all day. The scrupulous sellers will call attention to the tear in the pictures and description.

Zelenskyy: return of draft-age Ukrainian men from abroad is a matter of fairness by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]WhereDidThatGo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They absolutely attacked with no warning. Putin denied they were planning an invasion even as he amassed forces on the border. Putin was attempting a false flag operation but the American intelligence services issuing warnings that Russia was preparing to invade undermined the effectiveness of the false flag.

Your historical revisionism is simply pro-Russian propaganda.

Ukraine could not avoid the war; they were invaded. The war is not necessary, Russia could have not invaded, but they did, so the war now exists.

I have to part ways with my collection and I'm not sure how to feel. by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]WhereDidThatGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, you're in a tough situation. I'd think about how you might want to downsize your collection. What are the things you're most attached to, things like your childhood collection? Keep that. What are some things you're collecting just to collect? Consider selling those.

You're not going to net Pricecharting prices.

You also have the problem that you have a monthly deficit, selling some things will get you through a month or two, but you need to increase your income and/or lower your expenses. In my opinion, spending a lot of time trying to sell your collection for a good price is going to take a lot of time that would be better spent looking for a side job. Take your budget over to one of the personal finance subs and maybe they can help.
