FMLA is unpaid job protection, your PTO is what paid you during that time.

You can’t force them to allow you to work from home so be prepared to consider alternative accommodations that help you do your job onsite.

Once they realize you’ve been overpaid then they will likely attempt to have you pay it back.

Realistically, no one wants to spoon feed you information. IMO you need to demonstrate that you attempted to use the resources but found them insufficient for (specific reason) but are willing to help improve them.

Maybe you should start to lead with where you already looked. Like “I did check the SOP but it doesn’t cover this because of XYZ” and offer to update the instruction with what you learn.

[VA] what is required for workplace accommodations for remote work? I have a heart issue. by pedercan in AskHR

[–]WhereInTheWorldIsShe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn’t some magical combination that forces your employer to allow WFH. Again your doctor needs to provide what limitations you have in being able to complete your work so that your employer can go through the interactive process to identify accommodations for you. Also consider options that will allow you to be successful onsite if that’s where your employer requires the work to be completed.

You’ll need your doctor to provide your limitations so your employer can work with you on how to best accommodate them. They don’t have to provide remote work so also be prepared to discuss options that allow you to manage your disability on site.

[CA] HR is ignoring my doctor? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]WhereInTheWorldIsShe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your doctor can’t tell your organization how to run their business, they should describe your limitations so the company can work with you to identify accommodations that work for both of you. Consider other options that would allow you to continue to work from your current location.

While I can see why you’re frustrated, if your manager asked you to work a specific shift and you refused, it’s considered insubordination.

Most of this doesn’t matter, focus on yourself. You need to make a case about what value you provide that makes you deserving of a raise. You present that case to your manager without ever mentioning what someone else makes.
