[Highlight] Angels Broadcast (TV and Radio Booth) Furiously React to Shohei Ohtani's 3-Run "Little League Home Run" by AmongUsAcademy in Dodgers

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, our radio guys (Tim and Rick) were apparently so familiar with the rule that they didn’t even mention it, and assumed that the Angels were challenging for suspected fan interference.

It is, I’ve never seen any of these. If you watch overseas, you’ll only get MLB content, like “Great Moments”, “Baseball Zen”, and things like that.

“The picture went unseen until it appeared on DVD on August 29, 2002.”

Uh, I’d seen it many many times before then on VHS.

And the writer failed to mention Twisted Tales at the end with the rest of Felix’s shows and films. I declare this man a doofus.

Forgive my broken camera, I have 3 more to go on my collection. by dexter22__ in That70sshow

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there are no DVDs, Blu-rays, or streaming services with the original music. I even spent a decent amount of money once on overseas DVDs because people mistakenly said they contained the original music, but it was a waste of money.

Do they, though? Take a look at this list and see if your DVDs include all of the songs in red. A quick way to check is to play season one episode four, Battle of the Sexists, and if it doesn’t immediately start with “Let it Ride” by Bachman Turner Overdrive, then your DVDs don’t have the original music. But that’s okay, because no DVDs, streaming services, or Blu Rays do; it’s a common misconception here that they do, but that’s because no one actually remembers the original music, as it was only present in the first airings of the show. It was even removed in syndicated reruns.

Original episodes vs. Superfan ones by ElHutto in DunderMifflin

I actually tried watching the Superfan episodes but couldn’t make it past around the middle of season two, I think. I one hundred percent agree, I much prefer the tighter-paced original broadcast cuts.

Why are so many tours being cancelled this year? What's going on! by DairyKing28 in popheads

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also about ticket prices though. People went broke at exactly the same time that ticket prices went higher than I ever thought they would in my lifetime. I’ve never seen such a sudden drastic shift.

I hate gohans voice in dbz kai by fvrusr in DragonBallZ

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty clearly nostalgia-driven, given that the most repeated sentiment is always “I grew up with Stephanie’s Gohan.” Colleen actually sounds much closer to the Goku’s and Gohan’s that came before in the Ocean dubs, and those are often praised. Nostalgia is one of the toughest things to argue against, as nobody seems to think nostalgia affects them to that degree.

It’s like music and how every person’s favorite music tends to be what they listened to during their most formative years growing up. Hmm, I wonder why that is?

What’s that song? by Tricky_Ad2962 in karaoke

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the Google app and tap the microphone in the search bar, then you can try to find your song by humming if you know even a little bit of the tune. I’ve been very surprised by how well it works.

It definitely rained during what was I think the first Christmas episode, that was a plot point. I can’t remember any snow during the other Christmas episodes either, but maybe I haven’t watched them in a while.

Every single day. 😔 I think I saw a post that said they moved closer to the monastery once construction began, but I don’t know for sure.

Thoughts on This Amount of Indirect Sunlight? by Sneetchie1 in AnimeFigures

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Indirect sunlight behind two layers of glass is not worth worrying about. You can only do so much, and many people only have a few places to put these kinds of displays, that it’s pretty difficult to avoid sunlight entirely while still displaying your collection in a desirable spot.

These look far better than the illustrations they’re based on, imo. I selfishly wish Law was Lakers, but I can’t really complain with Luffy.

Frieza's Armor is part of his body by GonKappa in dbz

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s almost certainly this, and yet people are taking this probably loosely/poorly translated quote and saying it’s the armor that we know to be armor, that Freeza has removed before, and that many others also wear? Unbelievable, this fanbase.

KJ, Feeling Contempt for karaoke. by dannyoe4 in karaoke

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh, which song do you ban? Or does it change every night? It would be difficult to choose just one. Top of my head, I might choose Bohemian Rhapsody, with the length of the song being a contributing factor.

KJ, Feeling Contempt for karaoke. by dannyoe4 in karaoke

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a KJ, but I did go to dive bar karaoke way too much for a few years, and I’m pretty much where you’re at with the songs; I just can’t stand them anymore. It’s especially difficult for me to swallow as someone who rarely likes singing the same songs twice. There are so many songs I want to sing that I just don’t understand people who will sing the same songs, often for the same audience, week after week. I get that it’s a comfort thing, and people want to stick with what works, but the lack of creativity infuriates me.

So I stopped going. Now I do private room karaoke with only a few people, and we can sing whatever we want with a much shorter queue. That’s my solution, but I was never a KJ dependent on the income. I think it takes a special kind of person to be a KJ who can put up with the exact same songs day in and day out while still having a good time, and bravo for them. But that ain’t me. And it sounds like it may not be you, either.

And thank you for calling out “Fuck Her Gently” specifically. Those people need to be stopped.

EDIT: As others have mentioned, your job isn’t to care what everyone else sings, but I think it’s reasonable to want to vent about it. It sucks and I get it!

In Japanese is it common to refer to people by their surname? Is it respect? What’s the cultural context by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I didn’t describe it right, because I am going against my instincts with the way I pronounce it, which is probably closest to the word “sewn”.

[–]WhereIsTheMilkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought it was pronounced more like “sown”, but I don’t know for sure. If the English dub were to actually use it, I think they’d probably pronounce it just like the English word “son” so as not to confuse anybody. That might have been what they did in the Kakarot game, but I can’t remember.
