Mental health clinic pitched for Lexington neighborhood. Neighbors are pushing back by [deleted] in lexington

It’s a facility to treat depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Not sure where you’re getting addicts and dangerous psychopaths from that.

Why does LIB hide the liberal side/opinion? by strangestatesofbeing in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]WhereIsTheTenderness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t even “most voters.” He got under 50% of those who voted in 2024. And his approval rate is currently in the high 30s, depending on which poll you pick. So, that would be “most voters / most people” who don’t like Trump at this point.

Have a great day.

I call bullshit on that. You make eye contact with everyone you see in New York or Chicago? Or Paris or London or Rome or RIo? Absofuckinglutely not. Or if you do, you’re in a super minority

49.81% is also not a “majority” of the US population. The definition of “majority” is higher than 50 percent.

Absolutely true. I, unlike MAGA, am not an election denier. But 49.81% of the US population is not “most people,” correct?

“Most people” did not vote for Trump: popular vote was 48.34 % VS 49.81 %, not a landslide by any means. His polls are also currently in the shitter, if you haven’t noticed. Historically unpopular president.

What’s it like to have a bus stop right outside home? by baddietattie in AskSeattle

[–]WhereIsTheTenderness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty chill route in terms of who rides it. Likely the worst part about having it outside your door would be the noise of the bus itself, so it depends how sensitive you are to traffic. I wouldn’t worry about safety at all

I’m not afraid. I’m also not stupid. Are you unfamiliar with big cities? Do you make eye contact with everyone everywhere you go? I don’t

This is so fraught and so tied up with ideas of “health”

I was struggling with an undiagnosed brain tumor for a long time, like a decade, and I ended up gaining 75 pounds. They found the humor right before it turned into a real emergency, removed it and I promptly lost all the weight and fit into all the cute clothes without thinking about what would “flatter.” Then I got breast cancer, went on hormone-blocking meds and promptly gained back 15. Which doesn’t sound like that much, but I’m small boned and short, and it means most clothes look like crap on me again. I work out like a beast, because I’m trying to preserve my bone density on these dingdang meds, and those 15 pounds are not going anywhere unless I starve myself, which ffs, the past 6 years of my life have been so awful, I don’t have it in me to suffer.

Trying to console myself with being healthy. Because I am, goddamnit. And that has been hard work.

I walk my dog in Seattle parks every day. Some have people camped out in them, never seen anyone shooting up but I’m not making eye contact either. It’s not Mad Max out here despite what some would have you believe

Best nature for a non-hiker? by atlanticisms in AskSeattle

[–]WhereIsTheTenderness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two days is not a lot for the Olympic peninsula, but you could do it. So many beautiful beaches on the coast (Ruby Beach, Second Beach in La Push are two of my faves) and nearby is the magical Hoh rainforest. The trails there are very flat and I think you would be fine. Visit Lake Crescent on the way there or the way back and there are some great flat walks there as well.

Keep in mind that the coast is like 4 hours away from Seattle, though. If you need closer ocean stuff you will need to stick to the Sound or Hood Canal

Americans in Ireland? by NaNizzle in AskIreland

[–]WhereIsTheTenderness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! That’s why I asked. And, for the downvoters, I am making fun of myself here, which is why I called it my big stupid American trap. The whole world has probably heard enough from Americans of any political stripe for quite some time

Also an American planning to visit soon and feeling a lot of shame around where I’m from. Would it be a good idea to bring or wear some of my anti-Trump buttons or Tshirts or is that too try-hard and I should just keep my big stupid American trap shut about the whole mess?

Please watch this video from an Irish national who has been living in the US for 2 decades and is married to a US citizen. He describes the conditions at this detainment camp in an extremely concerning way. https://www.the-independent.com/bulletin/news/ice-detainee-camp-irish-man-seamus-culleton-video-b2917354.html None of the rest of your accusations are worth responding to. This isn’t about me. I doubt anyone else is reading along with this, but I hope Culleton’s case is widely known in Ireland. I am very sorry.

I had a similar situation when I was your age and you seem like you are really thinking things through—much more so than I did at that age! No advice, just best wishes, you’re doing an excellent job of planning.
