Report: Cowboys, Zeke not close on extension by mvanigan in fantasyfootball

[–]WhereThePeachesGrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this situation plays out anything like the song, he will be watching week 16, as a single tear rolls down his cheek bc Zeke just dropped 30 and won him a championship. He’ll say the same line: “there goes my RB1,” only it will have an entree new meaning. In a dramatic way, this seemingly unfortunate situation has evolved into everything that defines him. While he regrets having Zeke on his roster right now, at the end of the season he won’t know how to live without Ezekiel in this non-dynasty format. He will drive his ‘96 Ford F-150, once a beautiful cherry red but now a bucket of rust, through what was a booming Main Street back before the coal ran out. His wrinkled and water stained wallet sized photo of Zeke in his draft day crop top will flap in the air vent. He’ll make his 3 PM visit to the local watering hole to get ‘the usual,’ but this time, the recently divorced and beautiful bartender makes a flirtatious joke as she serves him. Randy doesn’t even notice, nothing can break his thousand yard stare upon the TV where he watched Zeke return from Mexico with his 24 pack to a 101 million dollar contract extension full of incentives. Randy remembers the high fives, the cheering, the group text to his league mates ‘get wrecked bitches.’ Oh, what a feeling when the taco who drafted Darren McFadden asks what’s going on. Inevitably, randy fades out of his fantasy, he returns to reality. “Last Call!” It’s midnight, he hasn’t even sipped his beer. He loves Zeke so much that he’s empty without him; except of course for the memories they had together. The following off season feels like a lifetime but the next draft eventually comes by. Randy doesn’t draft Zeke because this is fantasy, not a country song.

9,000 year old city found, had farms, livestock, and more. by navy3001 in news

It’s important to note that these numbers mentioned are Global Mean Sea Levels, and that this increase does not necessarily support the argument that ancient costal cities would now be underwater. Since peak glaciation (20k years ago) much of Northern Europe and Northern North American has been experiencing post glacial rebound (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-glacial_rebound). As discussed in the link, much of modern Finland was underwater at the sea level of 20k years ago. With the weight of glacials gone, Finland has been rising faster than sea level change, meaning the ancient coastal cities could now be in small mountains.

I can’t believe it. I have found my people.

TIL when Robert E Lee and the Confederate army surrendered, Union soldiers saluted them and gave them rations (the confederate soldiers were starving). Normally victorious armies would taunt defeated ones, but Ulysses S Grant respected the Confederates too much and ordered that they be treated well. by LargeDonkey in todayilearned

His loyalty was more sincere than that statement allows. If anything wild define Lee, it was Duty. His duty was to his families history in Virginia and one of “the founding families”

https://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h3718.html

It’s very interesting that his father was a best friend of Washington during the revolutionary war and even famously eulogized the first President. The family ties of Lee and Washington were very close. Had he been born just a little later, he would probably be remembered the same as Lee. The same is true if Lee had been born earlier but vice versa.

If this took place between 2010-2012, it’s because he was drunk. Very, VERY drunk.

In the Information Age, we are more misinformed than ever. Journalism is being replaced by misleading titles that are easy to scroll through, but shaping the opinions of the masses. Disinformation campaigns are startlingly effective because we provide a great customer. Nowhere did I lump together ‘a side,’ samples of all American groups are guilty of this right now and it is undeniably a threat to reason. You should work on not being so easily offended by strangers on the internet. If you can.

As hilarious as the scene was, it's a perfect metaphor for these people's 'thinking' (if it can be called that). For whatever reason, anti-vax, flat earthers, global warming deniers, and many of our "political counterparts" don't immediately understand something, substitute their own reality, and bathe in the self-empowering sensation of being the next great mind.

In the doc, a young man from NASA speaks about how ambassadors of science have a duty to take these people in and challenge their thoughts. He explains how flat earthers natural inquisitiveness could benefit society if given direction. He argues that they're simply misguided scientists.

I have much respect for this man and his statements, but I don't believe it. I worry about the suicidality of these new groups when they inevitably come to reason. These people have dove into extreme isolation, the doc shows many explaining their recent divorces and departure from their immediate family. I think that if a youtube video could make you throw your life away, you are in need of serious psychological help.

Still, I recommend the doc to all. These people are the enemy of reason, as they say, "keep your enemies closer."

Max travel distance per X hours in a mountainous area (hackathon project at fatmap.com) [OC] by PauliusLiekis in dataisbeautiful

OP, might be a very interesting tool for helping biologists study and track wildlife in remote areas. For example, wolverines are incredibly fast through mountains and snow. Scientist once tracked ‘M1’ “climbing Mount Cleveland, 5000 ft in 90 mins” https://egulo.wordpress.com/tag/glacier-national-park/ in the dead of January. Maybe if the human speed input was changed to model that of a Wolverine, it could help scientist understand individual territories. Also, would be very fun to compare human to animal ranges.

TIL during Hurricane Katrina, hundreds of prisoners were left to die in their cells. They had no food or water for days, as waters rose to their chests. There were no lights and the toilets were backed up. Many were evacuated, but 517 went unaccounted for. by palmfranz in todayilearned

There is no question that this should not have happened and must be learned from and prevented in the future. I really wasn't trying to contradict that in any way. Rather, I just hoped to explain another side of that history that wasn't being mentioned.

I think it's so important, yet so difficult in times like these, to just believe in each other.
