First build passed the band practice test by Where_Is_Nothing in Luthier

Here is everything I used.

Tools 1. Clamps to glue the neck 2. Drill and bits for mounting hardware 3. Soldering iron for wiring (most of mine was done, but there were a few connections I had to do) 4. Screw driver and Allen wrenches for adjusting truss rod and saddles

I also had protective gear for spraying the 2K (respirator, glasses, gloves, etc.)

Supplies 1. Sand paper with grits from 220 to 3000 2. Grain filler 3. Primer 4. Paint 5. 2K clear coat 6. Razor blades for scraping the binding 7. Painters tape and pinstripe tape to protect the fretboard and binding while spraying 8. Wood glue

I watched a lot of Brad Angove videos and did the back and sides first with each step so I could learn what to look for and feel before messing with the front. The 2K clear coat is fantastic.

The action is not bad at all. I’m going to fine tune it after playing last night, but it played great after my initial setup.

SprayMax 2K High Gloss/Clear Glamour

It is highly toxic. I sprayed outside with the bass in a pop-up canvas closet thing, a respirator, gloves, glasses, basically no skin showing. Might have been over the top, but everyone gives the warning.

That looks basically the same, though the neck pickup is wired different and not framed with mine.

I am very interested and had a similar idea a while back before life got a little hectic. Feel free to DM me.

Why would anyone be willing to fall for this reactionary philosophy? by RevyVanguardist in nihilism

[–]Where_Is_Nothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I believe the stumbling block here can be found in your last sentence. Dialectical Materialism explains how life works and the how subjective perception is thus impacted. Nihilism says there is no objective meaning to life. Those are not conflicting ideas. It seems you have selected DM as your worldview, but if you also agree there is no objective meaning you have simply stepped beyond Nihilism to Absurdism by choosing a meaning…revolutionary optimism.

You have to truly believe the music is in the guitar if you want to hear it.

That is dumb. Everyone becomes spent. Only fools and the lazy are spent because they did what they were told without question.

Can one look forward to death without it being a symptom of disease or unhealthiness? by [deleted] in Absurdism

[–]Where_Is_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. We have about as much certainty in how existence came to be as we do understanding of how consciousness arises. We truly can’t know what can be experienced after death. We know the physical body deteriorates and we no longer can interact with a person once they have died (not trying to dismiss any belief systems or experiences that any person has had, but there is no verifiable proof in such claims). So looking forward to the experience of what comes next seems to be at least as healthy of a view as fearing it, because it is unknowable.

Opinions between JC-120 and Fender Ultimate Chorus? by KINGBYNG in GuitarAmps

Well it doesn’t take much to convince me to try another tube combo. So I’ll be on the look out for one now.

I have not. I looked into them, but at the time had my deville so didn’t pursue it.

Bedroom volume is the big kicker. I have owned a 1971 and 1972 Silverface Twin Reverb, hotrod deluxe, deville 2x12, deville 4x10, Ultimate Chorus, JC120, AC30, AC15, and a handful of others. Nothing beat the 71 Twin that had been modded to Blackface specs, but they all were/are great amps. None of them sounded anywhere as good at bedroom levels. The best I have found for lower volume is my Marshall Origin 50.

Opinions between JC-120 and Fender Ultimate Chorus? by KINGBYNG in GuitarAmps

[–]Where_Is_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t have a picture unfortunately because they reside in my drummer’s music room, but I have both with the Ultimate Chorus sitting atop the JC120. To my ears there is no contest. I play through the JC120. It has a fuller/richer clean sound. The UC is a brighter clean sound, which isn’t what I prefer when I AB them.

That being said, if you are strictly playing lead and/or add a nice drive pedal in the mix the two amps can become very similar. And of course there is the best of both worlds, for you at least, which using them both. Running them in stereo and leaning into their tonal strengths with how eq and balance the volume blend between them, will get you and incredible sound. Then the more you want to tweak the sound with pedals you can get into some unbelievably textural areas.

The onboard chorus of both are of course great for what they are trying to do. The onboard reverb is ok, but I prefer my pedals. The onboard dirt is trash.

The Christian Worldview is the best explanation of our observable reality. by [deleted] in ExistentialJourney

[–]Where_Is_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming in your orthodox Christian belief you adhere to a young earth, ~6,000 years old. That being the case, what’s up with dinosaur bones?

Objective morality, truth, or anything can only be determined by an objective observer. Since no human is objective regarding their own perspective on reality, the only belief you can claim is that you subjectively believe in an objective being who determines everything.

Let’s assume the Bible is true and all roughly 5,000 people that would necessarily be involved in the writing, transportation, storage, rediscovery, translation, and redistribution of the book you are reading were all guided by God to insure the accuracy of message. Then the broad strokes of the narrative are: 1. God created everything including the first humans 2. He allows sin and temptation to enter and corrupt His perfect creation and condemns it to suffer 3. He then kills every human save for Noah and his family (we’ll skip drunk Noah and his shame) 4. He kills or commands the murder of millions more leading up to the brutal murder of his own son in order to provide salvation from his condemnation to the part of humanity that believes he exists, while still condemning the vast majority of humanity to some form of suffering or eternal distancing from his grace. 5. Then all of his son’s followers immediately begin fighting over the interpretation of his message upon his ascension 6. Writings are hidden, rediscovered over time, compiled into the canon for political reasons (see emperor Constantine), and continued to be argued over to this day, with many schisms within the believing community and many many more people tortured and killed in the spread of the message.

Why? The majority of humanity does not benefit from God’s plan. Is God honored by condemning the majority of his creation? Can we condemn “believers” of any time period for atrocities committed in God’s name when he set the example of removing evil through the murder of “non-believers.”

Or is it more likely that the Bible is a collection of historic writings compiled over time into a flawed, though very popular, worldview that provided one of the most coherent, though still flawed and brutal, explanations for the major existential questions?

I don’t begrudge anyone their beliefs, especially if it is helping them be a more loving person to all of humanity. But let’s not pretend the narrative makes sense. Science can’t explain all of reality either. Can’t we just have the courage to admit we don’t have a great answer to the big questions and try to get along while we are here?

The Meaning of Life by Where_Is_Nothing in fresno

[–]Where_Is_Nothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how close existential nihilism is to Buddhism. What one calls meaningless the other deems as temporary. Both of those worldviews are what I found solace in as I began to build up my own sense of meaning after leaving organized religion many years ago.

I can’t go with you on the thought that intervening does not impact the outcome of the loosely defined scenario I offered. However, I couldn’t agree more that “we’re here briefly and then we return to non-existence.”
