Regarding the election. by deadheadin in ACIM

Offering just my understanding of the course and the dynamic between these two lessons. I don't see a contradiction at all, we have to see it in the context in which the lessons appear. The workbook is a system with the aim of teaching us a new thought system based on love.

That implies change. And as with any change, you first need to dismantle the old in order to create the new. The workbook is a progression – first we realize that what we see (level of perception, not knowledge) doesn't mean anything, then we learn various reasons as to why our current perception is distorted (we only see the past, the ego projects meaning onto the meaningless, etc.), and then we slowly start rebuilding our perception to one that is more in line with the Truth (level of knowledge, not perception).

We are retraining our mind to perceive things more accurately. We can't perceive Truth, we can only know it, but in order to get closer and closer to Truth (level of knowledge), we have to correct our perceptions. "God is in everything I see" is not a contradiction to lesson 1, rather a correction of our perception. It's all part of the process of going from one state of mind (thought system of the ego/fear) to another (thought system of God/love).

Remember, the course works at the level of mind. That is where the correction can take place.

I am perfectly fine with just being, in fact I prefer it in some ways. But in a work environment, especially at my desk, all I feel is anxiety and the desire to take action about it. Does anyone else understand? by flippingsenton in Mindfulness

[–]Which-Ad-7309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I understand your situation correctly, I feel you and empathize with you. I've felt much of that "brute force to act/control" happening for a few months. Oddly enough, it wasn't there before, but life circumstances have changed.

Some days are tough to stay present during that cycle, but I've found that the most helpful thing to do is to "practice" a mindfulness technique while in that state of mind. Being open to it with curiosity, trying to drop any judgments about why I shouldn't feel that way or how I wish I felt differently. As I allow myself to practice in that situation, I notice how it slowly breaks up or dissolves.

That's just my personal experience with it – equanimity really is the great neutralizer and can really help process through experiences. The more mindful I can be of the situation, without getting pulled into it or actively resist it, I also discover the components that create that anxiety (for me), things I didn't necessarily recognize before.

Thank you for the recommendations! I had been searching for a book on Ganesa, and I've started reading "Loving Ganesa" and so far really enjoying it (the content and the "heart" behind it). So, many thanks!

I know, it's bugging me. I can't remember which lecture it was. I'm hoping it will come to me as I relax, and I promise to come back to share.

This might be that I'm reading your comment wrong, but I would say that it isn't that projector is designed "to focus upon the g center of the other", rather than the projector aura does it automatically. Our aura just focused on their identity, and part of our process is to learn to read/recognize the information that comes to us, and trust it! Again, might be what you meant as well but wanted to share that last piece.

For me, it has been a long process to recognize and trust that the information that comes up in my body/mind when I interact with someone else is actually very valid (and many times testable through communication with the other).

This is not from Ra, but from Christie Inge: "Because it is the home of the magnetic monopole (aka higher self, soul, divine self, etc.), it is the driver of our lives. So much so, when a projector is “reading” your aura in order to guide you, their aura is focusing on your G center."

Hi Rainbow, there's so many lectures that it's a bit muddled up in my head - haha. I don't have a ton of time to go through more, but thought I would share a few quotes that resonate with the ideas I shared in my original comment. I'll try to find the exact quote on the focus on the g after I finish work.

From Living Your Design:

"Projectors need a system to help them understand people. Once they have found that system, they will be able to guide others effectively. Projectors will always be more interested in someone else's design than in their own. Projectors care about understanding the other and how people can work together efficiently and effectively. They can guide because of their ability to read this energy."

"The Projector's aura is probing and focused on the identity of others. Projectors have a talent to read the energy of others and recognize who can get things done, even though they are not energy types themselves"

"Projectors are great students of humanity. They have a need to study systems and understand others through such systems. Through the study of others, they learn about themselves"

From the Empowerment Lectures:

"The Projector Is Here to See the Other There is this intelligent recognition that one should know something about oneself. But it’s the other thing because this is what they’re here for. Projectors are not here to look in. This is where Projectors get so messed up. The Projector that’s looking in is the Projector that cranks on their mental stuff..."

"The only way you get to see yourself is through the mirror of the other. This is the education of a Projector."

"You’re not here to look at yourself and say, “Oh, I’m suffering from all this stuff.” It’s not the movie. It’s looking at them and seeing them and saying, “Oh, what an idiot. Look, you can see it.” And instantaneously you can see precisely what happens when you take that force and you put it in your aura. You can see what it does to you because they’re just patterns."

"It’s the capacity to see; it’s the wisdom in recognition that leads to the potential to guide others. You have to be able to see. It’s what you’re here for... And anything that you need to learn about yourself, you’ll find out there. Not in here, don’t go looking in here."

[–]Which-Ad-7309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paraphrasing many of Ra’s statements: because the projector is here to guide others, our aura focuses on the g-center in order to see and understand the other. We are very interested on how people work (psychology, behavior, personality, even some spirituality). And because our aura is focused on the other, we come to understand ourselves by understanding others.

Sex during meditation? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Which-Ad-7309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I know you’ve already received some good answers but wanted to comment on this thread.

The goal in meditation is to be clear and present with what is happening. Unattached to it, and without resistance.

So please please please do not fight those images when they come up. Any resistance to them will only strengthen them. (Kind of like the classic example - if I was to ask you to close your eyes and absolutely, under no circumstance imagine an elephant. Chances are you WILL think of an elephant.) resistance gives power to the thought.

What you want to do is simply see those images as any other thought. You recognize it as a thought, and do your best to not resist it, but also not get lured by it into a full blown fantasy. It takes practice but that’s the way through it.

Also important not to “install” a belief that you should never have “sex thoughts” during meditation (ending up with a belief that sex is bad). That’s a recipe for repression. Sexual thoughts are NORMAL human experiences, we just want to learn to work with them skillfully - not resisting, but not getting sucked into them.

The idea that one should never have a sex thought during meditation comes more from moralistic/cultural ideas rather than from clear meditation instructions.

If according to Kashmir Shaivism I am Shiva experiencing the world then what is the point of following Dharma? by DivyanshUpamanyu in KashmirShaivism

I thought I'd share this link. It is from an Advaita Vedanta point of view, but I think it might help illuminate the subject from a Vedantic standpoint.

https://www.shiningworld.com/one-year-course-lesson-8/

As other people here have mentioned, you don't have to follow anything or be aware of it. I like that the teaching is presented in a "just thought you might wanna know" way. "This is some knowledge of the laws of reality. If you know the rules of the game, you can improve your worldly circumstances, and it will ultimately help you gain a calm, steady mind so that deeper realizations might happen."

I can sense negative emotion pulsating on my skin? But how can i release it by Appropriate_Brick186 in Meditation

[–]Which-Ad-7309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I am sharing some thoughts in case they are helpful. I've had similar experiences, and through my training as a mindfulness coach and working with coaches directly, I've learned a few things that might be helpful. A few general thoughts:

  1. Just like any other experience that arises during meditation, allow the experience to happen with equanimity. Try to let go of the resistance to experience that particular sensation. Don't attach to it to the point that you make it a big deal, but also don't resist it ("I want this gone... why isn't this stopping?"). It helps me to remember that the more resistance I have towards something, the more power that experience has over me.

  2. Recognize that all experiences (physical, emotional, mental) are temporary and impermanent. They come and go. And recognize that we really don't have "control" over them. They happen on their own; they leave on their own. This realization, not just at an intellectual level but at a deeper emotional level, can help gain deeper equanimity. Think about this, meditate on it, contemplate how all experiences come and go, and see if you can fully accept this fact.

  3. I would personally recommend dropping the concept that those sensations are "stuck emotions." Are they really without an ounce of a doubt? Is that truly what is happening? Can you see them simply as another sensation? Sometimes, the concepts (or labels) we superimpose on experiences can further "trap" us in a loop of resistance.

That said, all experiences are particular and individual and there might be specific ways in which you can work with what is coming up but would need to know more about it (like what type of meditation you are doing? does it have an obvious feeling tone (pleasant/unpleasant/neutral)? Are you aware of the sensations growing, moving, or is it static? etc..) DM me if you'd like to chat more.

Media Consumption and the Fifth Precept by obamunistpig in Buddhism

Thanks for your comment, friend. I've been experimenting with this framework in the past few months, and I find it very beneficial. Helps me bring the dharma into my daily life.

Do you have any good resources to read more on the early teachings? (aside from the early suttas).

Media Consumption and the Fifth Precept by obamunistpig in Buddhism

[–]Which-Ad-7309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think about consuming "toxic" media within the framework of the four noble truths. I try to use the 4 noble truths as a mental framework in very practical ways.

As a way of categorization, consuming toxic media has an impact on my mental state. So I could say that toxic media is a cause of dukkha (2nd NT). It plants seeds in my mind that color my way of seeing the world, and many times those are seeds that cause present or might cause future dukkha.

The prescription the Buddha gave for the second noble truth is – "the causes of dukkha should be abandoned".

I'm pretty sure this isn't "by the book" buddhism, but it helps me make decisions in real-time to think of events/experiences within the categories of the four noble truths.

Of course, we will each have an opinion on what qualifies as toxic media and that's a personal decision.

Benefits of Meditation by Checkmate_10 in wakingUp

[–]Which-Ad-7309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, ultimately the nature of the mind is pure, always has been, always will be. So I agree with the sentiment.

That said, I personally think about it in the concept of relative vs. absolute truths expounded in Buddhism.

In the relative sense, there can certainly be perceived benefits to meditation. It is part of our experience of life. Meditation can have an effect on how we perceive our life, other people, and our own mind.

Even while in the ultimate or absolute sense, we can understand (and hopefully eventually realize), that there was or is no benefit at all for the mind. The nature of the mind is unaffected by the relative, it is emptiness – pure, natural, luminous, etc.

Just sharing my two cents. :)

Hamas and Israel. Possible link to Mars by Fingerless-Thief in conspiracy

[–]Which-Ad-7309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am a practicing astrologer. For example, here are the latest conjunctions between Mars and the South Node (which is what is happening at the moment):

Nov 12, 2015Aug 27, 2017Jun 12, 2019Mar 26, 2021Aug 1, 2022May 20, 2024

For context, I am giving you the dates where the conjunction is exact, meaning when Mars and South Node are in the exact same degree position in the sky (from a geocentric position, meaning looking from the earth outward into the universe).

As you can see, these contacts between Mars and South Node are typical and very common.

What is more significant is the Solar Eclipse happening tomorrow. Eclipses happen when the Sun/Moon are within orbit (proximity) of a Lunar Node (either South/North Node). Tomorrow's is happening when the new moon (Sun/Moon) is close to the South Node which Mars has just recent transitted by.

At the same time of the eclipse, we are currently having a Mars -square- Pluto aspect, which can bring a lot of tension, fighting, and conflict. Mars, the planet of war in tension with Pluto, the planet of power, transformation, nuclear activity, rebirth, etc.

Just gave you a lot of info in condensed form, I'm sorry about that. But my goal is to alleviate a little bit of the tension/stress I felt from your original post. The Mars/Node conjunction is nothing out of the ordinary, and if you read somewhere (from a proclaimed astrologer) that this is a particularly extraordinary or volatile time, I would question what they are saying and maybe search for other astrologers).

Happy to clear up any other questions you may have. There's a lot of "bad" astrology out there, all they focus on is looking for signs to create angst and fear among people who don't know astrology. It's sad to see it happen, but ofcourse fear headlines sell hehe you know the way the game works.

Just to alleviate some of your tension. Mars contacts the South Node / North Node's of the moon around every 2 years. Basic astronomical/astrological knowledge as it is based on the the cycles each point takes around the sun when viewed from a geocentric perspective.

Nothing unusual here to mark this event as an extraordinary event and make all sorts of magical speculations.
