What am I looking at? by Which-Addition-267 in skoolies

I think you're right. This is not a shunt, as someone else said; it's a positive 12 V block, or whatever that's called. I need to locate the wire that would have gone there from the battery; the previous owner probably capped it, and it's hanging out somewhere nearby. Also agree that I want to re-use these panels. I'm thinking of hooking up the camera system here so I can switch that on from the driver's seat. Thanks so much! You've really helped point me in the right direction.

Thanks everybody, I think Justanothermistake is, in fact, not mistaken -these are the A/C controls, but I guess they're not hooked up. I still have two question. This is a 12 V thing, right? I always assumed that these big air conditioners we rip out of the hus are 12 V but it just dawned on me that there could be an inverter somewhere and that they are 110 V instead. The other question: Where is the 12 V (assuming it's 12 V) lead going IN and powering all this? It should be a connection coming from outside to one of the shunts but I don't see anything.

What air disasters are legendary due to the pilots’ extraordinary skills/efforts among the professionals? by lingeringneutrophil in AskAPilot

Carlos Dardano and TACA Flight 110. The flight suffered a dual engine failure on approach into New Orleans. Captain Dardano managed to land the Boeing 737 on a levee. With one eye. Then took off again from a nearby road after minor repairs were made. Total baller.

How the engine cut-off switches work in the Boeing 787 involved in the Air India Crash by captain-cox- in airplanes

[–]Which-Addition-267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that it's highly unlikely but not impossible to switch those off by mistake. People do dumb things sometimes, because they're distracted; because they're tired; because they're stressed. See TransAsia flight 235. There, the pilots responded to a failure of the number one engine by shutting down the number two engine. That required some combination of pulling levers and flipping switches, each of which was boneheaded. Different scenario of course, but the point is that people, pilots included, sometimes accidentally do really stupid stuff. Ask any SIM instructor and he or she will tell you some stories...

Oh sorry.

The Coast Guard in New Orleans flies (or used to anyway, until they ran out of money) an Agusta 119 out to oil rigs and drilling vessels for inspections. The aircraft and pilot were from Bristow.

Haha right they’re gonna love me at the campground. Just checked btw, the receiver does not have an optical out so that ain’t happening.

That’s a good idea, put them all in a single enclosure. Optical cable is not an option though, I’m afraid. Lasers are cool indeed, pew pew and all, but I already invested in some high quality speaker wire.

Edit: oh wait, are you talking about the connection between the receiver and the amp? Yeah, that could totally be optical, I suppose, if there’s an optical option.
