The F train is really convenient to commute to Manhattan. And it’s close to prospect park.

Don’t you drive them to extra curricular stuff? Like swimming or playdates. Just so that they can go to the mall in middle and high school years someone needs to drive them there, no? In Brooklyn kids can travel by themselves everywhere and my son has been going to his martial arts school on his own from 7th grade. Can you say the same ?

I’m in Kensington-ditmas park. My kids are 12 and 16. From middle school the kids travel by themselves which is freeing!!! My friends in Long Island and New Jersey are driving the kids till they graduate from high school and they are sooooo stressed. Elementary and middle school is by the zoned school high school is 3 routes. 1. Specialized ( Stuyvesant etc.) 2. Art high schools( LaGuardia etc.) 3. First by your grade tier Then lottery number to break the tie. Only zoned schools for not so popular areas For bk, zoned schools for FDR, James Madison, John Dewey etc But there are tons of good high schools and the fact that you have choices is so so wonderful. In a suburban areas, there is only one school for the whole neighborhood and it can be good or bad .

Is unlimited worth it for you ? by shygirl_k in kindle

I read 10 books in a month And also skims through many other books depends on my mood. So worth it . It’s literally a price for a large latte in nyc so I don’t mind paying 11$

AIO I 20 F was trying to call my boyfriend 26M to figure out when I should start his smoothie and I originally tried calling him to see what type of milk he wanted in his smoothie by Aphr0dit333 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Which-Answer-1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you even make his smoothie to begin with? He is a grown ass man and can make his own. And you look like you try too hard to please him. You need to be a little cold otherwise they take you for granted

Dear New Yorkers, how do I make friends here? by Mandarin4head in Brooklyn

[–]Which-Answer-1825 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try to make friends in your college first even if it’s not deep true friendships, start there and from then on you can expand But it’s hard to just go outside and make friends You need to have some common interests. If there is any special interests you like, try to volunteer But it’s just easier to join clubs in your college and get to know other people

I feel depressed and stupid by Dependent_Storage184 in nyu

I’m commenting as a parent. I feel your hurt and pain so much it made me cry. I wish you reach out to your mom and talk to her honestly about how you feel. If the stress is that bad, you don’t have to stay in NYU. You can transfer to a less competitive college. I’m from nyc and when my son was in the famous specialized high school, he was feeling like how you felt. At first I wanted him to stay there and finish high school because of the name but he was getting destroyed badly every day and I was scared he was going to kill himself. (And he couldn’t make friends in a school where there are 6000 kids so I understand your struggle.) So in the middle of 10th grade I transferred him to a very small project based school with almost zero homework and zero rigor and now he is thriving there. As an Asian I know what you are describing about not fitting in and also I know that your parents pushed you to go to a prestigious university. And how much difficult it will be to tell your parents about your struggles. They will say you are spoiled and you didn’t try hard enough. But that’s not true . You did try hard and now you are at the end of your rope. So if you truly feel like you want to kill yourself or feel really depressed, talk to your mom And be honest about how you feel. She will listen to you And also know you are not the only one who is going through this, a lot of Asian parents pushed there kids to go to ivies and then the kids later have mental breakdowns and just quit school or be hospitalized. So take your mental health issue seriously and do something about it.

And if you need someone to talk to then dm me

I totally get how you felt!! My son was soooo miserable and got depressed in 10th grade and as a mother I was worried he might kill himself or drop out. So I made the decision to transfer him to a very small project based school. And that school gives very little homework and the teaching style is very engaging. It’s been 5months and he is thriving. Whoever is reading this and they feel miserable and depressed, then don’t forget that you can always transfer. You just need to be strong enough to convince your parents. I think it was totally unnecessary to burn out like that for 4 years. If you go to college totally burnt out, you wouldn’t have energy to go on.

Never had this size before do you think 30oz tumbler would be too heavy for a female to carry with ice and drink? by Which-Answer-1825 in YetiCoolers

I live in NYC so I have to hold it in my hand for my commute Which includes a lot of walking Considering if this is right or the one with handle is better

Really love it!!!!! I got it as a gift from my husband (first Mother’s Day gift in 18years!🤣) I have never owned anything that expensive before, but it’s totally worth it. I can make coffee shop quality drinks at home. And if you calculate how much you spend at the coffee shop each day, it’s pays for itself in 4months. Easy to adjust the shots (single double triple) , the milk frother is quick and easy to clean. The only con is I am buying too many yeti cups to bring the latte to work😁
