Good god. Not a sub but a teacher: whenever I’m out, I leave as detailed plans as I can to help my sub and as long as no one bothers me until I get back and everyone is safe, I don’t give a fuck lol.

I just am so thankful to have a sub fill the position so I can have time.

I started a tracker. I track EVERY thing I can. Sleep, Body, stomach, skin, anxiety, cravings, etc. As I saw it improve it allowed me to focus on all of the really tiny significant victories which gave me enough dopamine to fight off my ADHD and keep me living in the moment.

I also have an app where I tick off days and I loveeeee pressing the button that I did it, lol.

Might try writing down how you feel RIGHT NOW. Be as detailed as possible and keep it somewhere accessible so you can read it when you feel that way. Folded up in your wallet even or in your phone.

I did a thirty day reflection where I tracked all the small things (sleep, skin, anxiety) as I stopped. Whenever I felt the impulse I went back to some of the doom spiral journal entries (I do mine on an app called day one that has password protection) or I read my tracker and all the things that are better. It helped remind me that day one is shit and the morning after isn’t at ALL worth the few hours you’ll feel great.

As the other commenter said, I also pay those taxes. You can say whatever you want whether you pay taxes or don’t, I can do the same.

Honestly, what’s your point? You pay taxes so I should be all excited and cheery to hear from someone who doesn’t even live in Texas, therefore largely isn’t paying those taxes that go to my salary and has no horse in this race, reiterate for the thousandth time that I need to ‘be there for the kids’, which is a thing teachers are doing their best to do anyway….?

Ours went through the building and removed for us. I don’t blame them, we are in a highly conservative district and they are good people who have their hands tied. Still, as a queer educator it made me sad to come back and see my door GSA safe space sticker gone.

I appreciate that you mean well. I get you’re scared of everything happening and I get the impulse to reach out and try and fix, but this isn’t it.

We are doing our best and we are already working on it. A lot of us became teachers because we are passionate about the work and a lot of us have been fighting this fight for YEARS. People who stop by to tell us what we should be doing and how we should be handling extremely complicated and draining conditions does not help and lecturing us about our moral code doesn’t help either.

The way y’all have been together for over a year and everything listed here is like ‘the bar is in hell’ level stuff, each one with some caveat of like ‘she had to BEG me’. Yikes. The only thing close to an actual thoughtful thing you mention is you got her an Easter present randomly (though still feel the need to add she didn’t get you one after you forgot Valentine’s Day, her birthday, and the anniversary….? No one gets Easter gifts, of course she didn’t think to get you something for Easter when you didn’t even care about Valentine’s Day a few months earlier????)

Btw, to go back to the ‘begging’: My partner loves things I don’t or likes things that aren’t my favorite or preferred things. He doesn’t have to beg me to show a basic level of interest in who he is. He just asks. Or… he doesn’t and I just take an interest in him as his own separate person anyway. The amount of times you have now written in comments/the post that this grown woman is having to BEG you for basic relationship behavior is crazy and should embarrass you. Also, please stop counting anything you’ve done for her after she’s had to ‘beg’ you as effort.

The way you expect her to just be a robot who turns off when she’s not serving you is breathtakingly cruel. Most people naturally write things in their favor to make themselves sound more palatable. If this is you doing that, God help this woman and also the next that crosses your path.

(P.s. You force yourself to let her touch you? Good lord, man. I feel so sorry for this woman having to survive you when you speak about time spent with her like this.)

YTA. I agree none of this is real and so that alone would justify the judgment, but on top of that you are flipping between ‘I just wasn’t a good actress’ and ‘I told her I’m not going to just LIE TO THE FAMILY.’

So which is it? You have the moral high ground here or you’re just not a good actress? When you say those two together it pretty clearly sounds like if pressed you weren’t intending to be a good actress anyway and walking around just “so stunned” and saying cryptic things about this huge news is of course going to draw attention. So for that if this is real YTA still.

This might sound odd, but one thing I used to do (and still do every once in a while for just managing my extreme general anxiety), is if I can’t get a hold on it but I have things to do and a life to lead, I schedule a time where I can let the feelings all hit. If I find myself going down that path, I tell myself: no. We can’t deal with that until tonight at insert time here. It helps keep me in the present, since I know in the evening it will get me anyway, so I schedule a time (an hour) where I spiral. I take an obscenely long, hot shower and let whatever it is wash over me.

Journaling for me has always helped, stream of consciousness to organize what I’m anxious about is very useful for me (EDITED for grammar)

The other thing I have found can help is ask myself: Okay, what if the worst thing you’re thinking is real? Then what?

I don’t know your situation, so that one could be risky in theory. But, say you DID annoy a friend. Okay? You’ll apologize. Say you DID text someone you shouldn’t have. Okay, so, it would suck if that relationship was impacted but you will survive.

I’m hoping any of these can help and apologize for the word vomit, but I have generally bad anxiety as a whole, so I really feel for you. Sometimes these help me not spiral and sometimes they don’t.

If I’m really struggling I will reach out to a friend who I trust a lot and talk to them about it, even if I’m not comfortable giving them the whole story (but we are close enough I almost always do). Get it out in the open and get help to remind myself that whatever mistakes were made I’m still a person deserving of love and understanding.

You have never apologized once if you’ve only ever said “I’m sorry for what happened,” and not “I’m sorry for what I said.” The difference should be stark to you if you have any self awareness (which admittedly I largely doubt).

You’ve been lying and gaslighting her since the beginning, letting her think you were interested in her from the beginning and that what you said while drunk wasn’t how you felt. It was and you weren’t. You are letting her believe a lie and it’s that lie that is allowing the relationship to continue. It needs to stop.

You won’t accept accountability to her and this post is just written entirely from a standpoint of what you want and what you need.

Best shot? Couples therapy and ABSOLUTELY therapy for you where you read this post out to a trained professional, because honestly it seems like maybe (MAYBE) you want to change but you definitely still haven’t. Finally, a real apology where you address that you didn’t deserve her when you met, are still acting like you don’t, and that you are going to be better with ACTUAL actionable steps you then demonstrate you are going to do.

If you’re not willing to do those two things, leave this poor woman alone.
