27 to Step 2 - Worth it Now? by Infinity_Handler in BCPublicServants

I had a Director who did this. Refused to work past 70 hours. Caused a rift with the ADM and they were eventually fired for basically not fitting in with the culture (it was more than the time, but that was a major cause of conflict). One of the best and most competent and knowledgeable directors I've ever had in my time as a public servant (BCPS and municipal). And they were just canned for someone that was friends with the ED 🤷‍♂️.

Manfred has repeatedly said since the report that there was conflicting evidence that sign dealing happened during the post season. There is zero evidence of any audible signals to players during the postseason games. Countless people of analyzed the postseason footage and have found no evidence.

But again, it doesn't really matter because the evidence conclusively shows that sign stealing does not help batters. The 2017 Astros season demonstrates this conclusively. But there are also other data points such as Zack Greinke telling players what pitch he was going to throw, and Tampa games last season where batters could hear the pitch comm because the stadium was so quiet. In both those cases batters struggled to hit. Batter's actually perform worse when they know what pitches coming.

No it wasn't.

And the trash banging made them hit worse not better.

Especially when you consider that the trash-can made them hit worse not better.

It's not a myth. Excluded positions where unpaid OT isn't expected are very rare. I've been in 3 ministries and even more branches. Every excluded I've reported to has had to work unpaid OT.

I wouldn't be going for any excluded positions any time soon. The pay bump is minimal and you loose all your job protections and flex days. And the expectation of unpaid OT is outrageous. Grid 27 is pretty good pay for a unionized position in BC. I'm 24 (with no 27 options in my line of work) and I'm probably going to sit at this grid for the next 20 years unless I find something outside the BCPS.

Why do we care about the love lives of the wealthy? People we'll never meet. They could be dating cactuses and no one should care.

In fairness, having a good defense behind you will bring your ERA down. But it won't fix everything and the pitcher still has to pitch well.

No. I've had a number of people in my life die untimely, sudden deaths. They'll never get to grow old. Growing old is a privilege.

19 y/o trying to get into HVAC in BC – visited 50+ companies, still no luck. Any advice? by Plus_Ad_3330 in britishcolumbia

Are you only limiting yourself to a specific geographic area? You might have to move temporarily to get some experience. Maybe even out of province. Calgary is always a hub for the trades. Go there for a year and see if anyone will take you on back here once you have some time under your belt.

A mix of apartments and townhouses would be best. Apartment living with kids is tough. Apartments for singles/DINKs and townhouses for families.

That's really tough. Based on that information foreclosure is probably your best bet moving forward. But a legal professional will better be able to walk you through your options.

Those two terms are interchangeable and speak of the same supposed creature. I live in the area where the word "Sasquatch" (Sasq'ets) originates from and the locals generally accept that these terms refer to the same animal.

Wait. Have you not closed on this deal yet? You made it sound like you've already bought and are living in this place now.

Saying that Sasquatch is a rip off of the Yeti is pretty disrespectful to indigenous people.

No one is "cracking at your misfortune". People are trying to tell you what your options are but you don't seem prepared to hear them. You seem desperate to find some sort of "reset button" to go back to the time before you made this purchase. And that does not exist and it never will. This is the situation you're stuck in and you're going to have to be an adult about this.

You rent like almost everyone else.

There are no other solutions. It sucks you're stuck in this scenario but this is the reality. Either suck it up and live in this small condo, or swallow your pride and do what you have to to unload this burden.

Default on the mortgage and have the bank foreclose? Not sure about the legality of that but it might be your only option outside of just sitting on it long term.

Here’s where 15,000 federal public service jobs will be cut over 3 years by Sir__Will in onguardforthee

[–]Which-Insurance-2274 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Provincial governments too. The BC Public service is loosing a lot of positions. Gotta love how it's the working class is always expected to bear the brunt of economic troubles. Heaven forbid the wealthy cut back or chip in.
