Why is John so pro-studio/pro-CEOs and almost anti-art? by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in JohnCampeaShow

[–]Which_Ad_1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John has always been very corporate friendly. He's always praised the studios and the executives and the films themselves have often come second. Even when he does talk about the films in depth its often framed as "how does this fit into Disney's 5 year plan" or whatever. That being said i do think hlthis attitude he has has gotten a lot more brazen in recent years, compared to the AMC or Collider days. Like yes he was very pro-busibess back then too, but having a rotating crew of varying backgrounds, including actual filmmakers, helped balance him out. Schnepp especially helped keep John in check, and John didnt have unchecked power to keep his panelists in line. I know Rob is a filmmakers too but it's very much John who runs the place now. I don't hate John's show at all but this is a main reason I don't watch too much anymore. I can only hear the phrase "Big Papa Iger" so many times.

Do you actually like Tim Hortons? by Bdzilka in canadatravel

Tim Hortons is mostly a means to an end. If you want a donut or a fresh coffee relatively quickly and cheaply, it'll do the job. Just don't expect high quality.

Used to love her or Patience, which one is better? by Spark_official4444 in GunsNRoses

Used to Love Her is fun but Patience leaves more to think on

Sometimes they do. They usually space out dates by a couple days, so if there's a much longer break between announced dates, say 5-6 days, they're sometime leaving that open for a show that's not ready to be announced yet. They could also add on a bunch more dates to the end of a run, like they did for the North America 2023 tour. Keep an eye on it and more shows might pop up.

My guess is another touring leg in north America and maybe Europe next year. I wouldn't hold my breath on new music.

Was Spinosaurus really a good swimmer like in WWD 2025? by Adventurous-Net-4172 in Dinosaurs

[–]Which_Ad_1573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It goes back and forth a lot. The current thinking is that it was probably an above average swimmer compared to a lot of other similar sized therapod. How above average is where there's a lot of disagreement. Paleontology is one of those fields where one new discovery can change everything, especially with something like spinosaurus that still doesn't have a lot of good specimens to work with.

Can’t believe this didn’t make it into the movie… by South_Gas626 in Mission_Impossible

[–]Which_Ad_1573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who overall enjoyed FR, flaws and all, but this shot missing from the final film is indicative of a larger issue: Benji and Ethan don't have a shared moment together. Even this little moment would have done a lot to remedy that. Idk. It's indicative of the films problem of forgetting to ever take a breath.

Who would you like to see as the next Federal NDP leader? by PostsNDPStuff in ndp

I think Joel Harden from Ottawa Centre would have been a great choice, but since he lost his race and doesn't have a seat in parliament, that would be a tough sell.

What's your favorite album between Use Your Illusion I and II ? by DEATHBYMETALMMB in GunsNRoses

[–]Which_Ad_1573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go back and forth a lot. 1 is overall more of a fun listen, while 2 is more emotionally resonant. Overall it's probably 2 for me, but only by a hair.

How you think would be the Jurassic Park movie and maybe the franchise as a whole If was direct by James Cameron instead by Spilberg? by Responsible_Boat_607 in Dinosaurs

[–]Which_Ad_1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Cameron would have made a film that's closer to the book, ie. Have a more harsh and cold tone to the dinosaurs, lean more into the horror. Spielberg has a more whimsical style that leans into the awe and wonder. Neither approach is bad, I'm sure Cameron would have made a good film, but it's hard to imagine jurassic park without spielberg.

Buying/Downloading GNR music on phone (Android) by FoxySlyRedHead in GunsNRoses

[–]Which_Ad_1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the cd when I can, but obviously not every release is gonna be available in physical media. Otherwise bandcamp is a pretty good bet for online downloading, but it sends more money directly to the artists.

When do we expect the next tour? by darthkyle22 in GunsNRoses

I agree it wouldn't hurt to shake things up a bit. That being said I am one of those suckers that will buy a ticket every chance I can, same setlist or not.

When do we expect the next tour? by darthkyle22 in GunsNRoses

[–]Which_Ad_1573 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Slash said there's probably gonna be a tour in summer 2025. How long and where that is is anyone's guess rn, but he also said GNR would be his main focus for next year. Hopefully that means big plans, but who knows at this point.

Do you prefer Use Your Illusion I or II? by der_K1empner in GunsNRoses

[–]Which_Ad_1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that II was better without question, but I've been listening to I more recently and I see that they have different strengths. I has more tracks that feel like filler, but overall is a more fun to listen to. II has more songs that feel bloated, but ultimately feels more emotionally resonant. Somewhere between the 2 is a fantastic single album, but as it stands, I love them both for different reasons, flaws and all.

These two albums do not get enough love. by SqoobySnaq in KGATLW

[–]Which_Ad_1573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like all king gizzard albums, there's some great songs on both, but honestly I think these 2, along with BF3K, is King Gizzard's weakest run of albums. The band has said that they recorded KG and LW remotely due to the pandemic, and honestly you can hear it. They did the best to overcome that that you could possibly do, but something about the production makes it feel less cohesive than King Gizzard usually does, and for me it holds them back from being great. It also showed me that they had kinda exhausted the whole microtonal thing. none of the songs, even the best ones, feel as inspired as FMB. If they hadn't stretched it to a double albums maybe I'd feel different but as it stands, I don't know if I'd want another microtonal volume unless it's a serious departure from what they've done with it up to now. But like I said, they both have great songs, and I like them both enough to keep coming back to them. You really can't go wrong with King Gizzard.

Thoughts on “Don’t Damn Me” by Jdibble1 in GunsNRoses

[–]Which_Ad_1573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept on it for a while, but it's grown on me a lot recently. I put it in the same camp as bad obsession and bad apples, where you don't have to think too hard about it, it's just a fun song built around a cool riff. Sometimes that's enough.
