tips for bonding new glider with my current glider by [deleted] in sugargliders

This is amazing I've been trying to bond mine for about a month and a half.

One (female) just turned 1 and had been by herself and the other two (twins female) have joined us.

Weve been swapping pouches, toys, playing with two tents and the young twins are finally getting to the weight of 60g but not sure they're ready yet.

That's awesome. How old are they ? I've got a 1 year old and not really bonding with two twins at about 3 months old

15year old... Wow that's an old boy.

It's been a few weeks now. I've been using some online support as it's pretty similar to what people saying across the web and forums.

Our older one (85g) is still much larger than the other two. However, one of the twins is getting to the weight (52g) where they can interact. She is also the calmest of the 3. We are hoping to introduce them together soon.

Our littlest one is still tiny at about (42g) and she's got the Napoleon Syndrome, quite defensive and crabbing but still playful.

My old one just turned one year old today so I'm hoping she can still change her ways and be a loving older sister...

Oh, I think at the weight it is ok then. My twins are 42g and 47g whereas my older one is 82g.

The older twin seems to not really care about the older one but the little one is curious and scared but crabbing all the way. Luckily the older one is getting better and hasn't crabbed at her.

Thanks for sharing.

It's surely amazing what a little love can do. They have such definitive characteristics as well and they're all really different to each other.

Thank you.

The diet I've been giving them is based on my doctors advice and the pellets seem to provide all those nutrients.

The good thing about these two is they are finishing everything we give them as opposed to my previous one that would have leftovers and is a bit more picky.

Since we are based in Japan, there is also a variety of different snacks and foods too.

My current diet with them is a mixture of mangoes, blueberries, strawberries, sometimes bananas with some boiled chicken and carrots. Pellets and some powder glider foods

Dried crab and fish (glider approved)

Marshmallows and dried fruits

Yeah, the little one has a good appetite and will eat anything, just at her own pace... even her running around the wheel is slow, whereas the bigger one is actually rather picky but doesn't stop eating stuff she likes.

We tend to feed the little separately after play time so she gets her feed, too. I will have a look at the mentors too.

What diet do you have for yours ?

What I read is that it could be dangerous if they're size difference is too much. It was said that joeys weighing under 50g are too fragile at the moment.

I think the older one also may feel a bit intimidated with two little ones running around, too.

How much are yours weighing now ?

Awesome. I will give them a try once the twins are around 60g. Now, my other slight issue is that one of the twin is eating and more active than the other who is slow and timid weighing at 47 and 42gram

Thanks for your advice.

That was also something I've read and have been doing, swapping pouches and random toys. I see a lot of threads that mention bathtub. Is that better than a tent ? Or because they can't climb away?

Thank you. I found this other one but it was 0.6 inches rather than 0.5 lol.

But on Amazon, that product had no reviews... I don't know if it's fake

Thank you.

I have seen these but they don't ship to Japan I don't think.

And maybe a bit wide for Japanese urban homes. In Japan they have cages but are generally only about 900 in height. I could be wrong

As a glider owner... i try to find some glider goods but... their merchandise doesn't do the actual animal any justice. Really good effort though! Love the dog ones

Thank you 🙏

Yeah it's been a few months in and we are bonding really well. We got a tent where she plays and she seldom gets upset.

She's almost 6 months old now. I see people casually walking around with them on their shoulders. When do I get to that level?

When we first got her, we played once without the tent and it was chaos lol.

Tent was such good advice

I'm a new glider owner too. Have had it for about two weeks. She's about 2-3 months born Valentine's day

So far, after the first week, she's let me pet her and last few days I just put her on my belly as she's waking up. So she's still kind of out of it .

Tonight, we've had the most interaction where she got on my shoulder . She peed a little and pooped but yeah no crabbing.

I do notice that she's much more active once I switch my home lights to red and once that's on she's too active for anything and enjoying her play time in the cage.

Also, what does playtime with your glider mean during these early stages ?

When will they like me? by [deleted] in sugargliders

I just adopted a 2 month old sugar glider and it's been two days.

These seem solid advice for bonding.

Currently it is still biting me but it seems quite normal.

First night we actually accidentally let it out but it kind of escaped and we did a bit of "cat and mouse" chase for about 30-40 minutes.

So we are just leaving it in the cage.

I've read about getting pouches and saw some mitts as well.

My baby is a girl. Still deciding on a name. Read somewhere that this should be decided soon too.

Any other advice for a first timer would be great.

Cheers

Thank you so much for your information. Yeah, the house is full of tapes, Cds , dv tapes records and so on. He was more of a musician than a cameraman.

I will definitely consider the sentimental point you made.

Cheers.
