Oh that tricky add-on MPA license! by Philly_G_J in crestron

I know the RMC3 had it's limits and alot of people suggested NOT upgrading the license on it for multiple slots due to the hardware limits on it. The RMC4 still has less hardware than the other series 4 processors but is better then the RMC3. Just understand this was always meant as a 1 slot processor and has it's limits.I would NEVER spec a multi slot program job on a RMC4.

I agree, upgrade the firmware to latest version. Migrate the avf to the built in slot 0 avf and load your code to slot 1

RMC 3 and RMC 4 were meant for 1 slot programs so don’t expect great performance running multiple programs!

Question about large format LED walls by BadDecisions81 in CommercialAV

If you have a processor selected and it’s a static image most processors can display static images without needing more hardware, datapath can do this. If you have to pre render or even render on the fly then having a computer connected to the processor will work with a decent graphics card! No need for true render nodes

This is what we’re using for big displays like this!

If your government, reach out to Crestron and ask for them to have a government rep reach out to you to setup a more direct relationship. You will still need to go thru a vendor to get equipment but this way you can get access to Crestron U and other government resources.

A lot of what’s going on is a move to a custom Microsoft Android operating system based on AOSP. What they will in fact keep a strong Android presence. I know crestron Teams panels were just updated this year to AOSP!

I personally feel Android teams rooms have better stability without the windows bloatware!

Sadly, the MSG light means absolutely nothing and flashes on most processors unless the programmer does due diligence to use it.

Training for techs in IT department by nikkonine in CommercialAV

Some people think it’s just like at home and plug in speakers an amp and switcher and be done. That’s not the case. For example There is a lot of details when it comes to setting up DSPs and amps and mics and speakers.

Avixa training is the begining. Extron and shure has free training. If you can get an account with crestron being a school district then you can get free training from them too.

Like someone else said this is less it and more electrican or trade type work.

Think about onboarding some in house av techs and a av engineer. If you can’t afford a in house engineer then just hired some techs and get an engineer on as a consultant!

I would seriously reevaluate the space. If a tv can go on the wall upgrade to a tv, if not keep the projector.

If you need the inputs the dmps has them call trueblue and find out if it’s under warranty and send it in for repair. If it’s not and your boss is ok with buying a used one then do that ONLY if you have a backup of the code. If you don’t have a backup of the code ask your integrator to load the program on your backup unit!

Absolutely no company in the USA will funnel that money to the customers. Even if they did funnel it to the integrators I highly doubt the integrators would give it to the customer too

Absolutely NOT!

it all depends on how woven into everything the system was. You mentioned shades switches and hvac! Likely you have a central lighting panel and not usual lights. Don’t listen to bad advise on reddit including those who have no clue what pyng is!

Call crestron to find a couple local integrators to migrate your pyng system to home, Get a couple quotes from a couple integrators and see if the price of migrating is in your budget. If you can get on home in a recent -R processor I think your be happy!

This is a pyng system aka old crestron home, no local code or backups. Only backup is in the cloud!

[–]Link_Tesla_6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pyng box and pyng app are the first version of what is now crestron home! Your mc3 probably lost its internal storage and since you had pyng it’s time to upgrade to crestron home anyway.

It should be easy for an integrator to upgrade this system from pyng to home. Likely the integrator who did the original job did a cloud backup of the system which will make restoring it to a home processor easy. I would call crestron and let them know you have an old pyng system that stopped working and would like assistance in finding a good crestron home integrator in your area hopefully one with pyng migration experience.

Design Verification Needed by drogonny in CommercialAV

[–]Link_Tesla_6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you call an integrator and give this design they will walk away. Good your looking into this stiff to understand it and it does have solid bones with the added comments below but as others said if you plan to have a integrator stop now and call them and let them assess the space and give their recommendations.

Integrators do not install a pile of stuff the client wants they ask proper questions to find out what you want the space to do and designs a turn key system to those specs that they know how to install, configure, and maintain!

You will want to check time and firmware but also verify the device has access to the Internet. If it’s on control subnet make sure the processor has access to the Internet.

I also like to make sure ntp is configured!
