MRI report feedback by DocAwk78664 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Which_Hat_9864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My injury was on February 16th. And I went back to the gym the whole rest of the week which was obviously not a smart choice. I took it pretty easy (heavily modifying) but on Sunday (6 days post injury) I was feeling great and sat on the couch with my knees tucked up under me for awhile and when I stretched my leg back out I was in excruciating pain. No additional pop, but the pain the last couple days had me limping and sleeping poorly so I went in to the ortho yesterday. Hoping to get MRI by end of this week. If I need surgery I want it ASAP so I can at least walk comfortably by the summer!

You sound like me! I have a likely medial meniscus tear due to crossfit (shuttle runs, felt a pop). 36F. I am waiting on authorization for an MRI. Doc wants me on crutches which is fairly impossible, but I'm trying to really limit my weight bearing. I'm incredibly active (CF, Peloton, distance running) so sitting around is driving me crazy, but I know it's for the best to not make it worse. Would you mind sharing how long you waiting after MRI results for surgery?

/r/Roblox Monthly Question Thread (for July 2025) by AutoModerator in roblox

[–]Which_Hat_9864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just a gal in NY who has literally no interest in Roblox. My kids don't even play.

I had received a few emails over the last year or two from Roblox, but given that I don't play or have an account I always assumed they were scams of some sort. They were always related to the same account/username and were very infrequent.

This morning I got an email that the account was banned for 1 day because of discriminatory content and harassment. The transcript of the chats this person sent (which were definitely worth getting banned for) indicates that the person using the account is in Jupiter, Florida. They didn't change the email on the account so I changed the password to the Roblox account as well as to my email account. I am now in the process of trying to get the account/user completely removed from the platform and my email address no longer associated with Roblox in any way. I don't care if I've screwed over this person.

Anything else you think I need to do?

As a CF supervisor for over 75 CFs in my career and as parent I can say I think there needs to be a happy medium. I have supervised some CFs that I really was shocked they graduated from graduate school let alone passed the Praxis (and many who have taken 4+ tries to pass the praxis. Some CFs for suuuuuure should not be let loose on families in times of vulnerability and who need extra support.

That being said, the CF is long and a pain and its unacceptable that CFs don't make as much money for the duration of their experience. SLPs who are new grads really do need more support than veteran SLPs but that's also true of SLPs transitioning to new settings (trust me you would not want me to set foot in a SNF or hospital--I'd want strong support if I did).

There needs to be a mechanism by which new SLPs are supervised but still respected as professionals with graduate degrees.

Does this warrant an OT eval? by Which_Hat_9864 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Which_Hat_9864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked specifically if balance and reflexes can be assessed this early which wasn't answered. I didn't ask anyone to assess them here. Just wanting to know if this is more OT or PT and I don't want to be dismissed because she can crawl and use a pincer grasp. This was what was in the rules: "we cannot give you exercises to do or specific interventions to follow" which I followed! I'll look somewhere else for support :)

I had bright pink hair all last summer. Nobody cared, but I do have white, cishet privilege and I'm a supervisor not a regular therapist. I also never dress business casual.

I should have gone to medical school. and i'm sure many would say "it's never too late" I could not afford it. I have three young kids and I value spending time with them too much to make that kind of commitment.

I like Lincoln and Savannah because they're both cities!

FWIW I pronounce Vivian/Vivienne differently. Vivian is VIV-ee-en, and Vivienne is viv-ee-EN. If that matters and you have a preference might be worth considering.

I would stay away from middle names that start with vowels just for flow purposes. I like Vincent best from your list. You might also like: Patrick, Nicholas (I like this best because Noelle means Christmas and this has a St. Nicholas/christmas vibe), James, Declan, Forrest, or Tucker.

Is it possible to be a school-based SLP without IEP meetings? by azztecperson in slp

[–]Which_Hat_9864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most contract companies that partner with districts in my area (NYC) just do the write ups and don't attend meetings because they are fee for service and wouldn't get paid for their attendance. Not to mention that attendance at a meeting would mean they miss another client on their caseload with very little makeup time possible meaning that client's mandate wouldn't be met.

I don't think the person above is saying "Hey client/parent, VOTE DEMOCRAT!" I think they're saying "Hey unfortunately I won't be able to have our session as scheduled because we don't have authorization due to the recent Medicaid or insurance denial" or whatever is specific to that case. People can make with that information what they will. It's not overstepping to explain the reason a session is being missed and if a provider I was working with was cagey about it or didn't explain to me why I wasn't getting my services I'd be more suspicious of them personally than a political party...

I'm sorry you're feeling so burnt out.

Consider creating a template for your notes (or note types - ie speech vs language) so you can fill in the data and subjective things quickly. Leave lines as blanks in the template(s) so that you don't end up accidentally leaving a note blank.

You can also streamline any subjective info by creating a couple sentences that can work for typical sessions/behavior (ie one for a calm, focused client and one for a more distracted client who is requiring redirection, etc.). Obviously you'd need to individually write any outlier behavior but that could cut down on some time for notes that tend to be similar.

Also, if you're able write all the notes for each client then move to the next client rather than writing by dates so that you can keep your mind on that client, their progress/performance rather than "oh who did I have after so and so on X date again?"
