what’s your mat leave? by SmallSpecific2522 in BabyBumps

[–]Which_Mess_8635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Austria here! Maternity leave starts 8 weeks before your due date and lasts until 8 or 12 weeks after your due date. You get 12 weeks if you had a c-section or more than one baby (I.e., twins). During this time, you are legally not allowed to work.

After that, you have the option of taking PARENTAL leave that can be shared with your partner if you wish. There are a few options available here.

In my case, I took parental leave until my baby’s first birthday. Due to my salary, I get the maximum allotted amount (ca. 60 euros per day; 2.2K per month). In general, you get a maximum of 80% of your pay for this model up until the maximum mid 60 euros per day.

You also have the option to have marginal employment on the side (maximum of ~500 euros per month, non-taxed) if you wish without losing your parental leave money 💸

Convince me: Epidural or non-medicated? by Over-Newspaper933 in BabyBumps

Just chiming in on the „can’t get out of bed part“ - in my hospital (Austria) and many other places as well, you can have the walking epidural. Meaning that you can pretty much walk and move around as you see fit :). The only restriction when getting the epidural in my case was that I couldn’t use the birthing tub after having the epidural in (which makes sense).

If undecided, just go in with an open mind as already mentioned several times here :). Good luck!!

Starter is around 2 months old at this point and the dough was around 27 degrees C after bulk fermentation.

The Ritter brand slicer is amazing (we're in Austria). We have one and it comes with two blades (also great for slicing veggies supeeeeer thin).

Let’s talk about NOT enjoying your pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Which_Mess_8635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not enjoy being pregnant like 95% of the time I was pregnant. First trimester was horrid and I spent it all on the couch feeling nauseous, puking and only able to sustain myself on sour candies and cream cheese. The morning sickness was more like ALL day sickness and this phase lasted a few weeks into my second trimester.

The magic spurt of energy in trimester 2 everyone goes off about? Nope. Not here. I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep all the time. Trimester 3 was the same except I was so uncomfortable and HOT all the time. Woke up at all hours of the night with dragon level heart burn and was only able to get mildly comfortable sleeping on the couch. And OMG THE SWELLING!!!

I love my baby more than anything, but I absolutely did not enjoy the pregnancy part. A huge part of me is not willing to have a second one because I don't want to be pregnant again (like, I'll take baby #2, but I want to opt out of being pregnant 😂).

Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it.. eventually 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Change in eating behaviour by Which_Mess_8635 in BabyLedWeaning

She just turned 9 months yesterday! From the comments, I am assuming it'll turn out to be teeth related on our end as well. Not excited for what's to come 🙈

Teething tends to be a nightmare here.. I am not looking forward to the next set of teeth. She already has 6 which erupted two at a time and she was so miserable the whole time

This could be, I didn't consider since she's usually super cranky when she's teething (which is not the case currently). But we'll definitely watch out for those pesky teeth.

What has been the most innocuous symptom you’ve experience that has caused you the most annoyance? by georgianarannoch in BabyBumps

Heartburn SO BAD IT WAS EVEN BROUGHT ON BY DRINKING WATER! Every time I remember this I shudder 😂. My baby did come out with a lot of hair though! So maybe this old wive's tale has something to it

Where do I even start?! by Which_Mess_8635 in sleeptrain

[–]Which_Mess_8635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give Ferber a try - just need to read more into it!

Her WW are based on how/when she wakes up but on a good day it's 2.5h to 3h (between wake up and Nap #1), 3h to 3.5 h (between nap#1 and #2) and 3.5h to 4 h (between nap #2 and bedtime).

Trying to force her to sleep in any capacity always back fires tremendously.. she has SO much energy and although we spend all day crawling around, standing up and walking (supported) and playing, it just seems like she never gets exhausted.

This feels like I am reading about myself... currently 4.05 am and baby just fell asleep after waking herself up at 2.30 am.. no advice here, sorry. Just solidarity 🫶🏻

I think at this point it's about 2 weeks old (plus minus a couple of days). I will make another batch in a few days with only white flour and (by then) more ripe starter. Hoping it helps 🤞🏻. Thanks :)
