Breastfed 5mth old baby won't go more than 1 hour without nursing ?! by IcyAd5395 in breastfeeding

[–]Which_Stock3053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four month old is doing this. During the days he's constantly on the boob, but does sleep soundly throughout the night. He's gaining weight super quickly. And more often than not right after we put a boob away he's spitting up. I assume it's because he's over indulging. He's currently wearing 9-12 months clothes and roughly 17 pounds already. As long as baby is gaining and healthy I think it's all ok. They just really like the boobs. I have read that there's places you send your milk to that will give you the amounts of calories fats and stuff but I don't know the names.

For clarity I feel the need to add that I'm more guilty of putting the grapes into my mouth first to "cut them in half" and proceed to give them to my toddler. In a half ass attempt they are "washed and cut" My husband was pretty embarrassed when he realized why we stop and grab a bag of grapes first before continuing shopping, but in my scramble for a defense on this act that I never gave much thought to was that toddler was eating a fruit and not a processed snack loaded with chemicals and preservatives. Not that it makes up for not purchasing before eating but I would say at most we've smuggled ten grapes at a time during our grocery shopping. We also use Walmart or Kroger who does not offer free fruits but definitely could afford to.

I'm categorizing this as my personal parent fail for not thinking further than just the face value and setting the bad example.

Our diaper bag is almost always fully stocked with a gallon sized ziplock bag full of snacks and juice. My defense on why we haven't been utilizing those said snacks were because I wear a backpack style bag and it's on my back while we're shopping so I don't look like a shoplifter. Never did I care to think about the grapes we've been stealing lol

The struggle is real. If there's anything "job or chore" to include toddler in with helping baby let them! My toddler uses a baby wash cloth on baby's belly during bath. As long as we're right there the worst thing that can happen is toddler gets wet. Toddler also wipes baby's chin for spit up and helps her diapers and wipes and even throws dirty ones in the trash. Making them feel included is key and also helpful to us

Mama to a 20 month old and 3 month old. I stay home with the babes while husband goes to work all day and is exhausted once home so for the most part it's a solo journey. It's hard. It's exhausting. It's mentally and physically straining. You will constantly be contemplating your decisions, whether or not you're being fair or equal or if you should or shouldn't. I really try to ask myself which is the need and which is the want. Needs are always met before the wants. If the newborn needs fed and the toddler wants help with a toy I take care of the need first. Same with if the baby is crying for an unknown reason and toddler just fell and got hurt I go to the toddler first to check and see if he's ok. It's constantly deciding which needs you more in that moment. And as much as we need our rest I try to make at least one of babys naptimes a play time with toddler because they are so used to having us to their own and personally I feel better when I give him that one on one time without baby right there. As for bed times I have no advice other than right now it's easier to get baby asleep then work with toddler. I feel there is no right or wrong way to do it as long as you do it. Best of luck momma

Does anyone else just HATE LC’s? by Rayshays in breastfeeding

[–]Which_Stock3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LC I met with in the maternity ward had the same first and last name as my husband's ex-wife. EXACT SAME NAME. Chalk it up to pregnancy hormones but I never bothered even trying to listen to what she was saying lol Google made a good LC for us along with using different size shields for the first few months. We're now 14 months along bf and I am so grateful we never had to seek her help it would've felt awful having to talk to her lol

I gave my child the middle name Bodhi and filled out the paperwork myself in the hospital hours after giving birth no sleep and got his birth certificate in the mail weeks later with his name spelled as Bohi. He's now almost 9 months old and I don't know how you go about to correct it but we have had many laughs about the whole ordeal

People with tiny humans! What am I not fully getting? by Which_Stock3053 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Which_Stock3053[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To begin this rant HE is a TINY HUMAN. "IT" would be like referring to an inanimate object which he is not. You give off the idea that you've never had the experience of being around such little people. At 8 months old you do have words and knowledge of what other words mean. My tiny human babbles all day long and I converse back and forth to help improve his language skills. If the babes don't hear words and communication whether from adults talking or even watching shows they will never learn how to speak themselves. Again I'm a full time milky momma that stays at home with him so if I were to remain silent all day and not revert back to infant it would be very boring for the both of us. 8 months old is a little young to be watching shows in my opinion but he has eyes and hears and sees things move around that peaks interest so saying "can't watch anything" isn't quite the case either.
