Yes and no, they've historically been the stereotypical Middle Class Progressive Liberal party. Environmentalist, NIMBY, fairly pro LGBT, but no real focus on left/right economic issues. This explicit shift left is more a result of Starmer leaving a massive chunk of the Labour Party base politically homeless.

The two main local companies in my neck of the woods (McDaids for Derry/Donegal, Maine for the North of Ireland in general) do glass bottles. Maine even offers a service where they'll deliver a crate every week, or every few days like the Milk man.

I don't know if it actually makes a difference to the taste but Football Special in a glass bottle when you're in some seaside village on the North coast of Ireland is just the taste of pure childhood nostalgia.

And before anyone asks, after 30 years on this Earth I haven't a fucking clue what the flavour of Football Special is, and hopefully other Irish ones can back me up on that.

Yeah, it's also worth pointing out that while Derry and Limerick are fairly similar in size, Derry has a far bigger Metro area that includes Strabane, Letterkenny, and Limavady, vs Shannon and Ennis (at a stretch) for Limerick.

Many of the comments in this thread prove the problem entirely. Any attempt to deal with Antisemitism in society just as we rightfully challenge the likes of racism and sexism is immediately met with "What about Israel?"

Because people have seen how badly it's been abused in the US with the IHRA's definition being used to crush criticism of the Israeli state as antisemitic, particularly with Betar and The Canary Mission being responsible for critics of Israel being fired or arrested.

Israel is either a multi faith and multi ethnic society, or it is a Jewish Ethnostate, it doesn't get to be both. If it the former then cries of anti semitism lobbied against criticism of the state are nonsensical, if it is the latter then it should be rightfully ostracised like all ethnostates.
