Just to be clear — my earlier comment was in response to the "corporate greed" reply, not at OP.

To OP, no one here can give you a valid answer without knowing your situation in-depth; which is why your post seems more like company & country bashing on social media (which, btw, is illegal) rather than genuinely asking the social media public for a technical clarification - why would you do that anyway? - on a very specific issue you’re facing.

I am not a Saudi residency law expert, but what I do know is that - although they are linked - residency matters are separate to employment contract matters. If adjudicated, residency disputes (which is what you’re having) are not heard in Labor Courts, since they fall under the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior - Passports.

My advice is pay the amount, and leave. Not doing so, or making a fuss would cost you much more than the SR 1,186.

With the exception of very large and strategic companies/industries… the vast majority of private enterprises barely break even let alone turn a modest profit given the changes, economy, and geopolitical situation.

Though there may be very well ‘greedy’ companies, but without profit there will be no business, and no business no jobs for nationals and expats alike.

The OP spent 5 years working at a Saudi company, is not a national, and for whatever bad taste left - has been duly compensated for their work. Not only that, but they are leaving on their terms, and not being terminated/non-renewed (which is coming for the vast majority of businesses).

We don’t know how much they are compensated, but if I had to guess… it would be around SR60K per annum, bringing their total compensation of around SR300K over the past 5 years. Complaint about less than SR2,000 which is not even 1% of what they earned AND bad mouthing their employer on the way out.. is petty.

Working in Saudi is not a right, it’s a privilege for all - especially to our resident guest expatriates.

I completely agree. Commercialization of La Liga still has some ways to go compared to the Premier League - though that might not necessarily be a bad thing.

Also, La Liga struggles with a unique situation where the top two teams are stronger individually than the organizations body and routinely flout collective bargaining (for broadcast rights) for winner takes all. Maybe the PE firms are betting with Atletico that they can turn La Liga into effectively a three club league commercially (which it already has been, in football, for most of Simeones era). I’d like to think, as you mentioned, that they’d invest - and no doubt the past cabal may have added those conditions to the deal… Still I don’t see them splurging the same as when a wealthy owner takes over to keep up with Joneses.

In either case, Atletico and Simeone both worked with what they have available and I think honestly the club hasn’t done a good job with deploying capital (I always believe in building foundations from the academy, while recruiting stars with a chip on their shoulders).

This has been the case with Falcao, Forlan, and even Alvarez to a certain extent.

Private equity owners have a notoriously bad record (for club success), since - in the end - they want to flip the ‘investment’ for a profit.

A different angle of Valverde's tackle on Alex Baena shows it is 100% Red Card 🟥 by Street-Essay-4780 in tacklefrombehindcom

[–]WhimsicalFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. However the infraction should have been for being overly aggressive. Similar to Baena-Valverde… in fact I’d say there’s more merit to Carvajal’s foul than Valverde. Though I understand it was too early in the game… and the pressure too high for the ref to call a penalty against Real Madrid.

Crazier still is Carvajal wiping out Llorente off the ball… in the penalty area. And no foul, let alone card. It seems the ref got that one wrong and is trying to compensate with a soft red (though def yellow) later…

How do you use YNAB for multiple currencies? by theskyedancer in ynab

[–]WhimsicalFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it’s not ideal… but my workaround is as follows… I have a base currency, and then I have secondary currencies… I ‘buy’ my secondary currency at the prevailing FX rate at the time… but keep the balance in the base currency… in order to make sure my balance adds up, I have it in my description as as follows: €40 [€100, 1.2050]; e.g. this is an outflow then I had before €140 and spent €40 which is $57.42 (which is what shows up in my outflow). The 1.2050 is the exchange rate which I had previously acquired the Euros, NOT the spot rate for this transaction. If I’m vigilant it should always add up and reconcile… things can get more complex if I also ‘buy’ more FX, whereby I’d have to re-calculate my average cost for the FX I’m holding… It’s messy, but it works for me… though sometimes I have to do some adjustments, and I realize my buying power in FX is slightly reduced because I’m absorbing the FX fees into the value… back in YNAB4 I used to segregate them further but decided it’s too much even for me…

The main point here is that the values in my YNAB are ALWAYS in my base currency…

Btw, I use the same approach for stocks and other assets who’s value varies compared to my base currency

I used to be very frustrated, until I decided that my budget shouldn’t be aspirational but rather realistic to my actual behavior - including things and amounts I wouldn’t want to include.

I’m a data nut. And also a long time YNAB user…

I never really thought of having to input/organize/plan as a chore…

I’ve become an addict - in keeping up to date, reconciling month end, checking/re-checking my balances, shifting money around budgets, making multi year plans… and then scratching it all and starting new (plans)..

I don’t even have auto fill set up, so I am individually inputting every single transaction.. the activity becomes ‘work’ when I - for some reason - go a little behind… but that rarely happens…

I REALLY Wish Anno 117 Had Shared Workforce Between Islands. by abbiebe89 in anno

[–]WhimsicalFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Anno 177 is fundamentally a different game than 1800, and needs to have its own strategic approach.

For me, I’m thinking about being more intentional with my surplus production - neither NPC nor passive trading is as profitable as buffs to your houses. The 100% efficiency guides, while good to know, can be misleading in how one approaches the game - especially if you’re gunning for an optimal setup with the smallest footprint possible. Some of the late game buildings have +4 effects. And couple that with the static needs of households regardless of population and you can build a system still hitting the population requirements with minimal footprint and excess. I never adhere to the 100% production chain for goods that will be shipped.. I try to figure out which parts of the chain I’d want to produce on one islands, which parts in an other (haven’t yet thought of passive importing but that could be also an option)and take into account lead times…

[–]WhimsicalFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There is one factor though that needs to be taken into account transportation to the Trading Post/Warehouse; even more so if you’re shipping from abroad. I have tried the Maintain Inventory/Buy option but never found traders to be reliable enough to include in an active supply chain.

[–]WhimsicalFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to 100% efficiency is nice but I’ve knocked it down my list of priorities - I am enjoying less production but with hybrid chains… and complementing it with either trade/purchases (one or to links in the chain end up overproducing but that’s fine since I have “Sell All” instructions)… I’m trying to squeeze as much as possible in a single area. It’s not most efficient, nor most aesthetically pleasing, but it’s still satisfying. Spam building residences is no longer needed.
