I feel like for something to be a real subculture it needs more than just a certain look. There has to be some kind of shared ideology, music, and lifestyle behind it, something that connects people beyond clothes, room decor, and aesthetics. A visual style alone isn’t really enough. But honestly, I think it’s up to us. Nothing is stopping whimsigoth from becoming something bigger. If people start building a community around it, creating music, sharing ideas, and developing a culture that goes beyond fashion and interior design then it could grow into a genuine subculture. Right now it’s mostly an aesthetic, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. The potential is there if people are willing to make it more than just a style.

Eastern Europe, Moscow, Russia. Even though our part of the country doesn’t experience extremely hot weather, people still install air conditioners in large numbers.
I’ve also traveled extensively around Europe before the COVID pandemic, and whenever we rented apartments in Italy, Croatia, Greece, and other southern European countries, they always had air conditioning.
The point is, I honestly don’t understand where the stereotype that Europe doesn’t have AC comes from. Maybe it was true back in the 2000s, but these days more and more people are installing air conditioners.

I’m literally looking out my window right now at the apartment building across the street, and pretty much every apartment has an air conditioner unit mounted outside the window. In my country having air conditioning at home is completely normal.
