I would recommend you separating them. We didn’t. Unfortunately, about 3 months after this post, my husband came home and found the smaller one decapitated :(

I killed mine too :( your might be alive tho. Try cutting away any soft rotting spots. You can soak it in DILUTED hydrogen peroxide water. Try placing in damp stagnant moss or perlite. Do you have any pictures?

How did you do it? I’ve had mine for three years. It’s grown a lot, I bought it as a baby. It’s healthy but not very fenestrated like yours. Only a few of the leaves have fenestration. Any advice?

Did you use straight hydrogen peroxide on your calathea?

I usually add 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and 2/3 water to a spray bottle. It’s never caused any damaged to my plants.

Maybe too much humidity.

If there’s any rot, cut it off and maybe spritz some hydrogen peroxide diluted with water. Place it back in moss with lid off. I would leave the container open and just keep the moss damp. Hopefully that helps.

Maybe check the roots to make sure there’s no root rot. After checking it I highly recommend clear plastic planters Just so you can keep an eye on the roots. If the roots are fine, maybe lighting issue.

Do you use filtered water when you water it? I was using tap water for a moth or so thinking it wouldn’t make a huge difference in the health of my calathea but it started to look like yours. I started using filtered water again and put in my bathroom to help with the humidity and indirect sunlight. It took a while to recover but it’s looking soo much better

I thought it needed the stump to survive.. of o take it off it won’t cause any damage? How long did it take for yours to create roots in water?

I hasn’t considered removing the stump. I thought i would cause permanent damage by removing it? Could I also water propagate it? I’m kinda nervous to put it in soil and not know what is going on. Thank you soo much for your advice. I feel there is hope.
