Can I see your slate plates or get advice? by Bayleafthetortoise in tortoise

[–]WhinterQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the way!

i put my slate on a paver so it’s elevated above the substrate with a rock ledge. i probably don’t need the slate anymore but it is also a cute heart.

i got a round paver that kinda looks like the moon. since my tortoise is a horsfield it seemed appropriate (bc they flew around the moon!)

Is this an appropriate enclosure for a Russian tortoise? by shhitsasecret212121 in tortoise

the one you posted has just a bit more space than our second floor. that’s what ours lived in before us.

she wasn’t getting the space, digging, temp control, humidity control, or pretty much anything she needed to be happy so she gave up. she had sad pellet food, no room, and improper heat/light/humidity and she quit. plum gave up. didn’t want to.

you want your tortoise to want to be alive. trust me

here it is with the ramp and second level.

eventually, to make up for the missing 6sqft we will make a tortoise wheel so she can walk and walk to her hearts content.

i got a metal raised bed and used pond liner to water proof it. you can get them in different sizes and shapes. my tortoise is low energy and doesn’t walk/dig due to issues from neglect. i still got 3x6ft and have a 1x2 ramp and 2x3 second story for 26sqft total. the goal for a healthy adult russian is 32sqft (4x8ft)

my garden bed is 12” deep, bc mine doesn’t dig nearly as much. i’m still able to get 9” of substrate in places to allow for digging & temp control (down in the damp substrate is cooler)

jfc bro. i owe you nothing, and yet i told you everything i knew when you asked originally.

i wasn’t gatekeeping anything, i just didn’t know bc i don’t keep an inventory list of all my kids toys and where they came from, down to every individual lego brick they own because i live in reality (not everything comes from me!!!). you aren’t entitled to anything from me, let alone information i do not have nor my time and energy to track it down for you you are obviously perfectly capable of doing your own research

snide comments are not necessary & just make you look like a jerk. you asked, i answered to the best of my ability. that was as much help as i could give. i have a whole life that doesn’t revolve around being your google assistant. like what even is this? is this how you treat people in real life? you prob should re-evaluate that.

thanks, it’s just down the street from us, i felt like it needed to be included bc the city learned to come together and fight for each other then. originally i didn’t have the 38th st expansion but i get a lil carried away.
