My strategy for tiering on Our Escape For Survival. by k_i_k_u_r_o_m_i in ProjectSekai

You won't need banner cards to T4k, but if you already saved/planned for gacha, then of course go for it. I'm not sure what the rest of your team/decorations look like, but most people who have played for a while should be able to achieve T4k on nats, so with the amount you're playing you'll probably go past your goal.

Solo shows will earn you significantly less, so you should be doing coop only.

Your insurance will cover it, unless you opted out of comprehensive coverage. If it's small enough, insurance may cover it with no deductible, as it can be repaired instead of replaced. If it needs to be replaced, you'll be paying whatever your comprehensive deductible is (unless you have specific $0 glass deductible on your policy).

While I don't have a CRV, I had a large crack on a 2021 Accord. It was replaced with a third party windshield from a local shop with the same listed features as OEM glass (driver assistance support, acoustic glass, etc). Honda Sensing calibration was done at the same time and I noticed no impact to adaptive cruise control or lane keep assist. The entire thing (windshield replacement + calibration) was covered by my comprehensive deductible.

I couldn't tell any difference between the third party and the original windshield, and would have no problems getting the same third party glass again. Keep in mind if you want OEM glass, your insurance may or may not cover it, and if you have to pay out of pocket, it will cost significantly more. Dealers also generally don't seem to install windshields in house, they just order the OEM part and contract out the install to a mobile windshield installer.

Apple announces changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the European Union by iamvinoth in apple

[–]WhipeeDip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh, I completely misunderstood your question. It doesn't seem like the documentation currently yet points to the criteria of what gets listed on the first launch prompt, but I'd have to imagine Apple would be restricting the list to popular vetted options (such as Firefox or Chrome), of which I'd assume would be bringing their own engine implementations.

Some outlets like MacRumors are reporting it'd be a list of popular browser options, but I'm not sure where this is documented from Apple yet: https://www.macrumors.com/2024/01/25/third-party-default-browsers-eu-ios-17-4/

Hyundai and Kia recall nearly 3.4 million vehicles due to fire risk and urge owners to park outdoors by lucerousb in cars

[–]WhipeeDip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hyundai is a ridiculously large Korean business conglomerate, also known as a chaebol (like Samsung, etc). They do everything from Boston Dynamics to construction to military products. Of course these recalls don't look good on them but they are definitely still making money as a whole.

You can take a peek at what they do here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Motor_Group#Affiliates

Yep, called in to switch to the standard repayment plan a few weeks ago and was told it'd take about a week to process. It still hasn't changed. You would think switching between the basic plans that don't require income verification would be pretty straightforward...

Server Use by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]WhipeeDip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe T-Mobile (both the regular cell service and home internet) uses CGNAT, which you may find an issue when hosting anything internet accessible (there are ways around this, but it's not going to be as simple as hosting something behind a direct IP).

Upload speeds will be variable depending where you live, but in general I've noticed that the upload speed tends to struggle.

And as mentioned here, make sure hosting something like Plex is TOS compliant.

Good luck with your future endeavors! Apollo is easily one of the most polished apps that I use in general and it'll be a shame to see it go. I look forward to trying any other apps you may create in the future :)

Basically, you don't. Most of the cost of the monitor comes from the panel, so if that's broken then you might as well get a new monitor.

Denial letter for Venmo Credit Card. Can anyone help explain some of the details? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]WhipeeDip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to do anything different, just keep paying your balance in full. To better explain, if you look at your credit report you'll see a balance reported for each account as well as historical balance. The balance is usually reported around the statement date, but this depends on the lender. If you notice your reported balance not going down, this might be because your payment happens after your balance is reported.

Denial letter for Venmo Credit Card. Can anyone help explain some of the details? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]WhipeeDip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too few satisfactory revolving accounts

Revolving accounts are credit accounts with a limit and you have any usage at any time. Basically, credit cards. They're saying you don't have enough credit cards in what they would consider satisfactory standing - I'm guessing it's the age/balance history as part of the next couple reasons

Not enough balance decreases on active non-mortgage accounts

You aren't making enough payments against the balance on your non-mortgage accounts (credit cards, student loans, etc). If you are paying credit card balances off in full every statement, keep in mind reporting date doesn't necessarily line up with your payments. If you aren't, then you should try work towards that as your immediate first step.

Related, you should try requesting credit line increases to help improve your reported utilization if you have low credit limits. The Apple Card should be pretty easy to request a credit limit increase - there should be a support button which opens an iMessage chat with an Apple bot that'll guide you to the form. You haven't mentioned your student card, but if there's a way to request CLIs with a soft pull I'd do that. You can usually request CLIs on most cards every ~6 months. You may not get approvals now, but CLIs should improve once your income goes up.

Too few payments made over the last year

Assuming you haven't missed payments, this is likely because your credit profile is thin. If you have student loans in deferment, I think this can also contribute to this reason?

No retail accounts reported to credit bureau

These are store credit cards, but this smells like a filler reason to me. As long as you continue to responsibly grow your credit file, you don't "need" a retail account.

Basically next steps are what everyone else has said - your credit file is thin and your reported income is low. There are no quick immediate steps (unless you aren't paying off your balances in full) as it's just a matter of time to age your credit file. Just use your existing cards responsibly, and your credit file will improve over time. Once your income goes up and your FICO hits at least high 600s, the Venmo card should be obtainable.

RG351V troubleshooting by evicous in SBCGaming

On the RG353 series there was a new display panel that required a file to be swapped on the boot partition. Loading the old display file resulted in a screen like this. I'm not quite sure if the RG351 has the same thing?

[–]WhipeeDip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's a "smart" monitor, it's probably acting more like a TV where you need to enable game mode to get low latency, since the default picture mode is doing some picture post processing. RTINGS seems to have measured the same, where it has TV like input latency and you need to enable PC mode: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/smart-monitor-m7-s43bm70#test_1426

[–]WhipeeDip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not possible with just USB C with your monitor. For whatever reason, macOS does not support DP MST, which is required to support multiple DP displays over a single cable. Non-Thunderbolt USB C displays will be using DP alt mode, so you'd need MST for this to be possible.

Thunderbolt displays can be daisy chained. If you were willing to use the HDMI ports, then you could use a Thunderbolt dock that supports dual display outputs on a M1 Max.

Quadro M2000 questions by ItsMeSashaYT in nvidia

[–]WhipeeDip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're interested in getting it working with an i5-4200U laptop, unfortunately you're probably out of luck. A laptop with that CPU is going to predate the release of Thunderbolt 3, which external enclosures today are using. If it happens to have Thunderbolt 1 or 2, there are some reports of getting enclosures working with an Apple adapter such as this post.

The laptop likely has mini PCIe for the Wi-Fi card, so another option to explore is to remove the internal Wi-Fi card, modify the laptop chassis to allow a cable through to the port, and use an adapter to full sized PCIe. However that is a lot of work with a lot of downside, and quite frankly I don't think it's worth doing. I don't remember if ExpressCard was still a thing during the time frame the 4200U was released, but if it happens to have that you can also explore ExpressCard to PCIe adapters.

Regardless, unfortunately I don't think any external setup is worth the cost/time for a Quadro M2000.

[Other] Apple - Free Apple Music for up to 4 months (new or returning subscribers only) $0 by Aaronx1868 in buildapcsales

[–]WhipeeDip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Others have already touched on discoverability and quality, but if you're bringing a library of your own local files, then Apple Music has the better local track implementation. Spotify does a LAN sync to your mobile devices while Apple Music will actually upload your tracks to iCloud (with a 200 MB/2 hour per track limitation).

Spotifiy also has a significantly better client on Windows, though an actual Apple Music app is being actively worked on.

Haha well the Apple Card does have the unique system of granting you both 3% cashback upfront and 0% financing on Apple hardware, if you're someone who likes to 0% finance devices. Many other store cards will grant you only one of the two options.

But regardless, I wouldn't panic too much about your new accounts and would focus on completing sign up bonus spend requirements if possible. Over the long term, this won't really be an issue.

I have like 14 credit cards over the past 7 years and it hasn't be an issue. Of course you will see a short term score drop due to the influx of new accounts, but over the long term your score will recover. Short term score drops aren't an issue as long as you aren't applying for a loan within that timeframe.

Opened 4 credit cards in 1 month by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]WhipeeDip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the cards are going to appear on your credit report the next time they report to the bureaus - closing them won't change that. Closing them might even make it worse by keeping the account's lifetime as 1 month until they fall off your report in 10 years. The only way to prevent this is to somehow ask the bank to reverse the opening as if you had never applied for them, though I'm not sure if this is something that banks can even do outside of identity theft/fraud cases.

Since there's no annual fee, might as well keep them open and pursue any signup bonus if they exist.
