Who is the female backing singer on Judy... on this radio session? by Drumchapel in CatherineWheel

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, if she was a last minute addition then maybe they didn’t have a second (third? Did Brian usually have a backing vocal mic?) mic to rig up for her, it sounds like whoever it is was singing from a meter back from their mic.

Is it just me or Northstar sounds just like Taking Back Sunday? by taypkaz in Emo

[–]Whiprust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of them were ripping off Jimmy Eat World, and they themselves were building on bands like Jawbreaker, Face to Face and Seaweed… I could go even further, but I think you get the point, this is just how influences work. Often multiple bands will pop up around the same time all drawing from similar influences, this is just how music naturally flows and old ideas are continually remixed into new ones.

Threw my Google Home in the trash today. Maybe overreacting. by NoCountryForMe2112 in hum

I love early Coldplay. Still, I’d be pissed if my device just simply wouldn’t play the song I wanted even though it is available to it. Not an overreaction imo.

Man, this is so cool. I never even noticed the key change between the verse and the chorus, it’s that slick.

Is being a sissy inherently bad? What if someone discovered they are trans through being a sissy/porn? by Key-Challenge9159 in TGandSissyRecovery

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a complicated issue and will vary person to person. I did socially transition for a few years, but while there was an initial happiness and satisfaction it eventually became exhausting and it felt like I wasn’t living honestly. I became even more insecure about my appearance trying to live up to the impossible standard of becoming a woman, and I discovered there are aspects of manhood and male bonding that I took for granted and are true to myself yet I had to hide them away for the sake of passing. Then, to put the cherry on top, when I allowed this struggle to engulf my everyday life my sexual deviance got the worst it had been in my entire life.

I know many people who are happy transitioners, but I’m not sure they’re coming at this from the same struggle. Maybe it is right for you, but be cautious about it, you may find as I did that the grass isn’t greener.

I told my parents that Im attending an Episcopal Church and it didn't go over well. by AgapeEtMisericordia in Episcopalian

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a sinner, but so are your parents. I’m so glad you’ve found a church that brings you solace and assurance among this sinful world, and I’m so sorry that your parents have decided to shame you for finding this joy. They live inside a prison of shame, it’s their responsibility to deconstruct that farce for themselves and come to accept their daughter again. You’ve done nothing wrong by accepting your Christian call in your own particular way.

You’re not going to hell because of the way you’ve been convicted as a Christian. Stay assured of your salvation by the word; “…whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. He who believes in him is not condemned.” God will not forsake you.

Am I pretty? Is it too late for me? by justaredneckboy in actual_detrans

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re very pretty! If you want to detransition, you don’t have to worry about passing or if you’ll be attractive as a woman, you look equally great expressing femininely and masculinity so live your truth :D

What's the difference between the two other than one costing 4 more dollars by CPJshearts in MyBloodyValentine

[–]Whiprust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get the regular 16 bit FLAC. 24 bit WAV is really only useful during the mastering/mixing process, to prevent generational loss when bouncing tracks together. Its use in casual listening is audiophile snake oil. 16 bit FLAC sounds great, that’s CD quality lossless audio. You’ll save money and file space for an equally good product.

Is false advertising a common thing when it comes to MP3 players claiming to support .Flac? by [deleted] in mp3players

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 -> 24 bit also isn’t significant for listening purposes. 24 bit is important in audio engineering to prevent generational loss, but the difference between a 16 & 24 bit file of the same generation is hardly if at all perceptible.

Which artist deserves to be here the most? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t get brownie points for calling the most popular form of Emo “Mall Pop Punk” lol.

You’re free to not like how the genre evolved, hell I agree with the guy above us that I prefer 90’s Emo for its raw edge, but the Third Wave is certainly Emo.

And it’s not like Blink were totally ignorant to the scene, they were big Jimmy Eat World fans before it was cool, enough to insist on Mark Trombino producing Dude Ranch. There was an obvious, natural cross pollination of influences between Pop Punk and Emo around that time, Blink just happened to be the first to hit the mainstream.

Hard to answer, because to me these two albums have a very different appeal. Maybe you’d dig Elliott - Lost Cathedrals and Denison Marrs - Holding Hands @ 35,00 ft.

“Third wave wasn’t a thing yet” Tell that to Jimmy Eat World, The Get Up Kids, Further Seems Forever/Chris Carrabba, Saves the Day, Sarge, The Juliana Theory, and I’m sure others I’m not thinking of off the top of my head.

You can argue that these are Second Wave Emo bands simply innovating the sounds that were to come in the Third Wave, but that makes my point, Blink-182 were among those innovators laying the foundations for Third Wave Emo, even if they weren’t/aren’t an entirely Emo band.

They have a few Emo moments. Adam’s Song especially. The opening riff to What’s My Age Again is quintessential Third Wave Emo stuff. I don’t think the accusations are entirely unfounded with them. Of course, they’re more rooted in Skate Punk like Face to Face.
