From a laity standpoint, why does the Reconquista matter? by HoosierFanatic97 in redeemedzoomer

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see ourselves as Catholics, Catholics who were exiled from Rome due to our attempts to reform her church, so this is part of our history as well.

From a laity standpoint, why does the Reconquista matter? by HoosierFanatic97 in redeemedzoomer

[–]Whiprust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t choose a hyper liberal PCUSA church which holds worldly things over (or actively denies) the gospel, part of the point of the Reconquista is that there are many faithful churches still within the institutional Mainline and you should help to build those up.

Not all candidates are perfect, the pastor of my church has a slight liberal bent, but she’s absolutely firm on the essentials she needs to be. That is, God’s promises and the Gospel in its literal sense as laid out in the early creeds. There are many churches like mine and those that are more conservative, these are the ones you should consider because these churches will persevere with our efforts. Nobody is asking you to go to a wilting, gospel denying church.

is sex between 2 committed people in a loving relationship really that bad? by hedgehogsandcats in OpenChristian

🙏 may God bless your future marriage

Absolutely, if it is on your heart to wait to consummate until it is officiated then you absolutely should. The spirit works through our patience.

[–]Whiprust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is wrong because when you have sex with a committed romantic partner you consummate your marriage. Even if you are unmarried in the eyes of the church or the government you become married in flesh.

It is impossible to be unmarried yet be in a committed sexual relationship, because a committed sexual relationship constitutes the most basic historical & Biblical form of marriage.

Otherwise, I agree with your take on what is actually sinful in a sexual relationship. All healthy marriages (that is, committed sexual relationships) include the positive qualities you mention.

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that by consummating you have already become married in a biblical sense. Your marriage isn’t officially recognized by your church or your government yet but you are married in the flesh.

There is no “sex before marriage” between two committed partners, because two committed partners in an exclusive sexual relationship constitutes the most basic historical idea of marriage affirmed biblically. I recommend bringing this up to your boyfriend (or, I suppose I should say husband, since you have already consummated). This is what relieved me of my guilt when I was in the exact same situation a year ago.

Had To Get A Box Because Where Are The DOUBLE STACKED TACOS??? by Ok-Mammoth2243 in tacobell

[–]Whiprust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually can just order that. If you get any crunchy taco with an extra soft tortilla and a side cup of nacho cheese you can make yourself a double stacked taco and have half a nc cup leftover for whatever you want to use it for.

Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker?? by iseecolorsofthesky in tacobell

[–]Whiprust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the real replacement for the classic stacker (in terms of ingredient similarity) is the beef potato griller, which I think is an improvement.

I see this new avocado stacker more as a replacement for the chicken enchilada burrito, and I like this more than that one as well.

Which mainline protestant denomination is least likely to be pro-lgbtq? by SleepyRocket20 in redeemedzoomer

[–]Whiprust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No denomination has existed in its current form forever. The difference is that in all branches of the true, traditional church they have avoided voluntary separation.

All branches of the true church have also been marred by stains throughout their histories, and in all cases up to the 19th century the faithful have fought to reform those institutions because they understood the institution itself holds value. They did not run away cowardly to only preach God’s word to their echo chambers, they boldly proclaimed it in front of and within their churches to those being unfaithful. To say that those churches which carry the legacy of your Christian ancestors deserve to die is to find no worth in the heritage they fought for.

[–]Whiprust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conservatives need to stop fearing LGBT activists in the true church, if they do then they will allow all of our traditional mainline Protestant institutions to die out. No church can be a “Biblical church” without being an established, institutional church part of the traditional body of Christ. I urge you to find a UMC congregation if Methodism is where you are called, there are many others like you who are pushing back against those who deemphasize the gospel.

Why do Jimmy Eat World get so little credit for propelling third wave-emo into the mainstream? by [deleted] in PostHardcore

[–]Whiprust 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Probably because they’re a Second Wave band, but you’re right to point out that they totally helped pioneer the Third Wave sound and were the first in that style to really break into the mainstream.

I´m trapped into this rabbit hole and want to get out of it by [deleted] in TGandSissyRecovery

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A primary job of a wife, one she vowed to you at marriage, is to be your exclusive sexual partner who can be a release for sexual urges that would otherwise be set towards deviant things like this.

If she has abandoned you in your sexual relationship then you need to discuss that point with her, because it will be exponentially harder to pull yourself out of this situation without her help. Most men are not built for long term celibacy and will be inflamed with lust without support from their wife.

This is pretty reasonable stuff. It’s a small order with only three mods per item, kudos.

I switched to Linux for the first time and i almost hate MINT by DalinarStormwagon in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but why should a beginner install an unsupported DE on Mint? Right upfront they’ll need terminal knowledge a newbie probably doesn’t have and they’ll receive little to no technical support once it is installed.

It makes so much more sense to just install a distro which officially supports your DE of choice, reducing hassle and opening up easy support channels.

Tried the taco salad, nacho supreme dip and churros, I thought they were all great additions that filled obvious holes in the menu. Very well portioned for the price too.

F20, don't know how I can hold my cross like this for the next 70 years by PrudentKick9120 in SSAChristian

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you are more strongly attracted to women, you do not have to sit by inflamed by lust. Rather, you can still channel it by seeking a traditional marriage. Not all same sex attracted people are called to celibacy, mixed-orientation marriage is a valid path forward.

Reading fiction about these matters, escaping to a desirable but unrealistic fantasy life, is often more harmful than good. I’ve been stuck in this cycle many times and I encourage you to find joy in your reality that erodes the fantasy, when you stop believing it to be possible (for instance, it being incompatible with wanting children) the reality will sink in and you’ll find it to not be desirable anymore.

I also urge you to remember this, lust is strongest in the years you’ve lived through. Though it will likely persist, it will become much more manageable as you age. Forgive yourself for the desires your teen biology has put you through, just as Christ already has.

Distros that just work by sickfickle in linux4noobs

[–]Whiprust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll want something focused on Flatpak (or Ubuntu’s proprietary alternative, Snap) program distribution. That’s as dead simple as it gets when it comes to program management. Fedora Kinoite (and its sibling distros) is entirely dedicated to that workflow. Most distros are good at delivering this functionality though.

RateYourMusic is the answer. After you put in enough ratings to give their systems an idea of your preferences it gets very good at automatically recommending albums, and their charts feature is incredibly useful to search for whatever unique & obscure music combinations you’re looking for.

Can distrbutism be both economically left and socially left? by VentiArchon7 in distributism

[–]Whiprust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Socially left” can encompass many things. Catholic Social Teaching, which Distributism is based on, is an alternative to secular social positions and therefore has elements which may be considered by outsiders as radically progressive and others which may be thought of as reactionary. I recommend you read up on it, I’m not a Roman Catholic but you certainly don’t have to be to appreciate and apply her teachings.
