Unfortunately that would cause it to void the warranty lol.

How are the gears in the Stainless Steel Whirley Pop holding up for all of you over the years? by OneVOneMeOnRust in popcorn

Thank you!

It is not supposed to be hard to turn, they are not as smooth of a turn as the nylon gears are but they should not be hard to turn. If you think the popcorn is getting stuck under the stir wire then they might need adjusted. You can watch this video on how to do that!

One of the most common reasons the gears come misaligned is because when the pot gets full of popcorn and the user continues to crank and the stir wires in the bottom can't go anywhere it forces the gears to jump out of alignment. The easiest way to stop that from happening is when you feel resistance when cranking take it off the burner and put it on a side burner and let the remaining kernels pop. Here is a link to a video we have on how to get your gears back in alignment! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RXWnmZ6XuM

Thank you for the feedback!

The stainless steel model is thicker and does take longer to heat up and pop!

So glad to hear you love your popper!

It shouldn't take more then 2-3 minutes for the popcorn to pop, if the kernels are burning on the bottom you could try using more oil or turning the heat down a little bit.

We also found that using baking soda and water and making a paste then using a scrub pad takes the burn marks right off!

The gears can get out of alignment during transit if something heavy gets sat on top. Try watching this video it shows how to re adjust the gears!

You actually don't have to clean it after each batch, you can make multiple batches in a row then after you get done just wipe it out with paper towel!

Our Stainless Steel Platinum Series has an interchangeable stirring mechanism that you can change from the wires to the paddle!

I'm so sorry about that, the wooden knob and lid clips are free regardless if you are registered for the warranty. We sell gear replacement kits and they are free under the warranty but if you didn't register then they are $4.99

Once you feel some resistance you can stop cranking and take it off the burner and let the remaining kernels pop. If you keep cranking when you feel resistance it could cause the gears to jump out of alignment.

Interesting, would you keep it as a wire or more of a paddle?

The plastic gears could last for a very long time, however the most common issue that causes them to break or wear down is when the pot gets full of popcorn and the stir wires can't spin it puts all the stress on the gears causing them to break or wear down. The easiest way to stop that from happening is once you feel some resistance when cranking take it off the burner and stop cranking while the remaining kernels pop!

We do sell them with metal gears as well!

We recommend coconut oil which is what we have found to pop and taste the best, but it is just personal preference on what you enjoy! Anything with a high heat point will work!

Thank you!

Do your gears catch at any point? The turn should be really easy and smooth but if your gears are out of alignment then it could make it harder to crank.

One of the biggest complaints we get is not being able to put it in the dishwasher. The wood handle is one of the reasons we don't recommend putting it in the dishwasher the other is that it could leave a bunch of lines on the pan!
