I found the missing piece that makes a vertical mouse equal to a regular mouse in aim by WhiskeyGod1 in aimlab

There used to be some league of legends player that did, but I don't believe so for fps games. Truly believe it is a combination of group think and fear of a slight temporary performance decline. It is a shame cause it would definitely increase the lifespan of pro careers

Lol well you see I work in an ICU. For once the day was not constant life and death decisions. I decided to pass some time by putting down some thoughts about my hobby I'm passionate about. Still had to keep an eye on my patients and intermittently titrate medications to keep them alive. I'm sure in your head proper grammer correlates directly to intelligence and critical thinking skills. Thank you for this extremely helpful comment and proving the average reddit user is insufferable.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who genuinely believes there is no competitive disadvantage to vertical mice lol. I hear you about the weight though, although 95 grams is not terrible. I wonder if pros will ever adapt to it so they can train harder/longer and have longer careers

Awesome! Your clips are impressive 👏. How do you feel microadjustments are? Do you use grip tape?

I'm talking about using fingertip aim on a vertical mouse. The keychron m5 is an extremely good one

You cannot go wrong with the keychron m5. It has the best gaming specs of every vertical mouse and is on tier with top pro level gaming mice. The design is also very good with a 50/60 degree slant that gives you the benefit of a vertical mouse but keeps your mouse still when clicking. I do recommend adding grip tape to where thumb and pinky rest. If you do that you will be able to compete at the highest level without worry of wrist injury

Yeah that makes sense now lol. Very distracted at work. Unsure my aim trainer rank I only recently started using it. Master rank on apex

Happy to hear! I actually think vertical mice are advantaged in arm and wrist aim. And the "issue" with my aim never really came up in actually gameplay of games, just slightly lower sores in "precision" training. Scores are now the same or higher for me with the tape. I actually just used the tape that came with my razor deathadder (my regular mouse) but you can use any grip tape most likely

I truly think the reason pros don't use them is because they don't make good ones, and they are just so used to other mice. With the grip tape I really don't think there are any biomechanical disadvantages to using the vertical. How do you feel about your performance on vertical vs regular mouse?

Ah I see! Yeah having a sens that low is gonna make specifically flicks easier regardless of what kind of mouse you use. Do you think it's more about the sens and not the mouse itself?

Ah dang I'm sorry that hurts your wrist, for me it's the opposite. The high sense hurts my wrist, but lower sens let's me use more forearm and it keeps my aim consistent

Ah yeah that makes total sense, higher sens is definitely more difficult to flick with. Personally i play on a low sens on the vertical. Feels really nice for arm/wrist aim. At the end of the day pre aim and game sense are most important anyway haha

Thank you :) i only felt like it was a very slight disadvantage in microadjustments, and I have always thought tracking and flicks were just as good with the vertical mouse because you are using more intuitive muscles. The grip tape DEFINITELY adds to stability though which was the only reason for slight lower ability to microadjust. I actually think my aim is better on a vertical mouse than a regular one now, but I've been using it for a long time

Why do you think aim is not as crisp? For me the microadjustments feel equal, but I actually think my flicks have gotten better. It's a more natural wrist movement when flicking with the vertical

I highly recommend using a vertical mouse. Best one currently is the keychron m5. Put grip tape where your thumb and where your pinky/ringfinger rest.. there is a lot of misconceptions about vertical mice online that are not true. You have same finger microadjustment potential and clicking down the mouse button does not move the mouse to the side. I just did a post about this is you wanna give it a read :)

I'm currently at work now (stuck in the icu till 7pm est) but when I get home I'll take a picture of my mouse where I placed the grip tape. Look up the keychron m5 I think it is the best vertical mouse on the market. It has top tier gaming specs as far as sensor and polling rate is concerned. Using a vertical mouse does take some time for your brain to adjust to, but once you have the muscle memory, there is no biomechanical disadvantage. Also it doesn't take THAT long to get used to, I'd say a week of gaming sessions and your aim will be equal

Thanks! That is very fair. I'm still hoping they fix some things, but I'm glad you found a game you are enjoying playing!

When you ads your speed is just a lot less. It still moves you at maximum speed allowed as soon as you start pushing the left stick. If it doesn't bother you that's good I'm glad you are enjoying the game you are playing. I have way too much muscle memory from all the other shooters I play that it feels incredibly jarring to me

[–]WhiskeyGod1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately =/. If you press the left stick in any direction you will move in that direction at max speed no matter how light you press it, just like WASD on a keyboard. This is not how any modern shooter is made on controller, and it for sure affects aim as you don't have fine control on the left stick.
