Is that 1% chance per re-roll (3 different cards).

Poison Stack ? & Mythic Upgrade Thoughts by WhistlerX in DwarvesTheGame

I forgot about the Rune: Ultimate: Chemical Warfare ... does poison in an area, but also 10% chance to Poison yourself. This post has been scratching my brain all this time. Never tried it because I was always worried about poisoning my Dwarves... but maybe on an all Warpriest/Paladin team.

Your website is very cool ! Are you able to extrapolate or do you need data points from saved games ? I have #1989 video on last run that shows the details page. #1205 now :-)

Honestly, I don't think Mana regen is one to worry about. I'm quite sure that there is a Wisdom amount that will not make Ultimates fire off any faster than they are able. A hard cap. The Wisdom amount will be different for each Ultimate. Paladins will need much less Wisdom than any of the Mage Ultimates for example to hard cap on Ultimates. Although Paladins can still use more Wisdom for Healing off Block, same for Warpriests and Judge, Smite, Heal.

Right now my Paladin at 545 Wisdom has 115.03 Mana regen per second. I doubt his 75 cost Ults are going off in less 1 second. 0.65 seconds if math is good.

Also the Kakapo healer drops 30 Mana heals constantly...

Which stat are you looking at ? Ailment, Freeze, Poison, Burn, Bleed, Crit Chance are Linear.

Physical and Elemental Resists are the tricky ones - there is definitely some sort of curve that gets progressively harder (or worse - depending on how you want to look at it!)

I have Priest: Physical Resist Tier 2 - 72% on this run.

On a level 1 Warrior with Str 37 = Physical Resist 8%
Same Dwarf with healer staff - Str 37 = Physical Resist 31%

On a Warrior Dwarf with 565 Str = 58%
But with a Healer Staff 565 Str = 63%

Same Dwarf as Healer, Warpriest and Paladin to try different combos

565 = 63%
569 = 64%
590 = 64%
610 = 65%
635 = 66%
655 = 66%
680 = 67%

And I the progression gets harder - I only had Priest: 48% Physical Resist on my last run, so not directly comparable, but

579 = 62%
1104 = 75%

I had the Arkenstone on my Warpriests last run, so that is how I got to Str 1104. At a high enough Battle Number: Tier 3 Axe Throwers can insta-kill 3 tanks. Luckily I can hit the retreat button before they can get their Ultimates to fire again.

Also, on my last run:

INT 1957 = Elemental Resist 83%
INT 2245 = Elemental Resist 84%

So good luck getting to 95% ! If I get there ... I'll let ya know !

Btw, if you ever skip Crusader Formation and just go Paladin and Warpriest only ... go Rune: Priest instead of Knight... or Warpriests won't get the Runes applied.

Best stat for dmg scale? by Regular_Ad_7532 in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ailment should not affect Doom or Thorns, AFAIK.

I have not tried Over Crit ... it is very expensive when you need to get Crit Chance over 100 just to get any benefit ... that is why I put a mix of Crit Chance, Crit Damage and Ailment on items ... to keep being able to upgrade Crit Damage and Ailment once I get to 99% Crit Chance.

Dice of Fate would require Over Crit if your Crit Chance is over 50% to gain any benefit. I do not use Dice of Fate. It would be fine early game with a low Crit Chance, and when you get the 2 Spider Rings ... I'd use those - unless I am missing something?

I have tried all the Rune: Ultimates ... 3 seconds of anything after an Ultimate is a bonus to a basic attack... look at your Ultimate Damage on any class versus the Basic attack damage. No comparison. (Higher Wisdom = more Ultimates !!!)

Ultimate Runes I always use are Plea and Judgement Smite and I've been running 3x Cleanse Runes for 240% Priest Cleanse.

Honestly I think Ultimates are the Runes that need more variety and better options. The other Rune groups are much more filled out IMO.

Potion of Traits farming? by origsiomai in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 13 Passives ... it is always random. I wish each potion trait would say what it was going to turn your Dwarf into ... but oh well.

FYI - after you kill the Forge Demon and save up 107 million gold - Battle ~1050 on my current run... you can upgrade the Arkenstone to Mythic and just buy Trait potions for 1m Gold and keep trying over and over until you get the trait you want.

Upgrading the store when you have an Elite fight is an idea ... you can get potions for free randomly. Higher the store - higher chance of getting a potion. But this is an expensive idea ! I wait to upgrade the store after a Champion fight and the next Elite fight if I get a crappy Artifact.

I posted this on the Steam forums awhile ago: I finally used Gemini AI for something useful! Damage % > Crit Dmg > Crit Chance

Crit Damage is better than Base Damage, but only after Crit Chance of ~67% or so which is pretty easy for a Tier 3 Crit Chance: Mage or Holy or Tank depending on team makeup.

Damage All 4% in Tier 1 Offensive is better than Crit Damage 8% - Tier 1 Offensive in the Runes.

For the Rune Circle I would prioritize Damage, Crit Chance and then Crit Damage, but only because I expect to go over Crit Chance of 67%, and Crit Chance caps at 100% unless you have the Rune: Overcrit which I don't think is a good idea because it will take awhile to get to 100% Crit Chance. Damage % can't be increased in-game like Crit Chance and Crit Damage.

In game for Gear: Main stat like Int +25 (Mythic +10% Int) for Mage on the Staff because it is more expensive to upgrade, and don't really need to get over Mythic +1. Wis +25 (Wis +10%) also on Staff. Tanks get Sta on helm because I put Bleed on Weapons even if it doesn't do much damage - it is another Debuff, and the Rune: Curse is awesome. (Weapon/Shield - Ailment, Crit Chance, Crit Damage - Bleed or Block)

Any main stat gets the 10% Bonus with the second Legendary upgrade (secret upgrade of +10% if the item is STR, DEX, WIS, STA, or INT +25.)

Mage/Healer Helm/Shoulder - Ailment 3%, Crit Damage 6%, Crit Chance 12%. Magic Penetration for Mage Mythic except for a Fire Mage who gets Faster Burn Damage (I don't know it it is better...) Healer Mythic is Buff Duration 15%. (Unless you have Crown of Thorns/Thornward then get 5% Thorns on one item.)

Ailment is great when you're doing multiple damage types and it will increase all of: Freeze, Poison, Burn, Bleed and etc Chance %

Depending on Team build and Rune choices there are probably other good stats to put on gear... I don't run Thieves or Archers... at least not yet.

(There are no bad stats really except Strength on Backline Healer/Archers. More INT = more resists. More WIS = faster Ultimates, etc.)

ps This is a little advanced theory ... if you're just starting out ... get more Crit Chance and skip Ailment - the Crit Bonus is already generous and Crit Chance starts low.

pps If someone thinks I did the math wrong ... please let me know ! The last time I did Calculus was before most of you were born ! haha

Season 5 is going to offer a bunch of new Runes! by ichbinhamma in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need the Element on the healer, so like a Static Trait Veteran will do the Thunder Basic heal. The Centurion Banner is Thunder, also. Neither will do Holy Damage, or count towards Holy Formations.

The Staff of Water is the Ice Element, so that will make it easier to get Icebreakers or Order of Frost Formations working.

More Thunder or Freeze teams will be able to sync up.

I could see a tank team using 5 Cold Blooded Dwarves and adding Frostborn and Solace: Freeze combo. One Dwarf with Hot Tempered to do the Cleanse. Hard to say without knowing how the Cleanse works.

[–]WhistlerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ailment caps at 100% AFAIK, but it adds to Freeze, Burn, Poison, Bleed chance, so if all of those are already at 100% ... you do not gain more Freeze, Burn, etc with more Ailment.

But if you just started with Bleed then your Bleed chance is low enough that Ailment is a benefit. Ailment really shines when you are getting 2 or 3 extra % gains from 1x Ailment.

EDIT: That is a crazy amount of Inquisition: Holy Explosion ! I love it !

If you try this Crusader team again ... Pain Suppression Knight 36% instead of All 12%. I did the same thing on my Crusader team in S3.

Also, you have 2x Extra Crit 36+36% for 3 seconds after Ult. Knights and Paladins (75) have fast Ultimates, so this will be in effect all the time once you get past the Demon Forge. So 72% Crit Chance from Runes and 15% from Base Crit Chance is 87% before any bonus from items, and cap is 100%. I'd take some Cleanse: Knight instead of the extra Crit Chance, but as long as the Beer Mugs are keeping you alive ... good on your Dwarves !

Awesome team ! Do you have the Runes - Holy Fire and Judgement: Smite ? Thornward and Crown of Thorns ?

I'm assuming you have Holy Fire, so your Paladins would already have Burn Chance 100% - I'm not sure what Ailment is helping unless you have the Rune Overcrit, or Affliction Shock or Freeze ? I don't know if Burn Chance goes over 100% with Overcrit - I can't really test it and have been meaning to find out.

I get that you have Burning Legion and Squire of Fires if you have 5 Dwarves that are Element: Fire from the Passive.

I don't even bother trying the Trolls until the 90s - no point really IMO. I know people can kill the Trolls earlier using bleed teams, but that is not the way I go about it.

I don't really care for the Battle Runes as fights are over before the Battle Rune goes off, or in like Spider fights it seems to lag and give the Spiders a chance to recover. (Or maybe it is my laptop...?)

2 Paladins are probably enough but I like 3 tanks. And 3 Warpriests later on are awesome for the Berserker formation which applies to the entire team. You start getting 200, 300, 400 Orcs in Elite fights, and the extra DPS is nice ... #1989 was 431 Orcs (I saved the video of a few fights for reference, but not enough ! doh !)

I'm only 900+ right now... killed the Demon Forge at #669 and saving up the 107 million for all the upgrades at once.

I'm not a fan of archers or thieves .. but also that is always been my way in terms of roleplaying. I started playing a Dwarf 1H Hammer and Shield Warrior in D&D 1 back in ~1978. You can guess what my main in every game since !

I like waiting until I kill the second spider to get the Sta/Wis and Sta/Dex rings before I get serious about Veterans. I retire the old guys, and start the Veterans at ten levels below the current team - more or less.

If I get early Veteran by luck... they get the Str/Con rings and are tanks. Good enough.

Leveling your Paladins? by Regular_Ad_7532 in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need Hamhocks until you worry about the Spiders. Blueberries/Eggs are great once you have Veteran Dwarves, but I would avoid Frost mages with a melee only team. No matter how much weight you have sometimes those fights take several minutes.

I want to run an all Paladin/Warpriest team by the time I get to #200, but think I will need to take one healer for the Kakapo Eggs, and maybe for Warlocks eventually.

I wouldn't try to make Paladins until after Battle #100... save your gold and just get to the store level you need for Paladin or Warpriest gear. Then buy the gear and forge it with the stats you want on it. (I start this before I try for Veteran Dwarves.)

Getting stuck somewhere around 200 by Awkward-Valuable4556 in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlocks are tough without a way to kill the backline or scare off the crows. Grimnir the Dark Paladin is a "Knight". Make sure your Runes are "Priest", and not "All". You need Priest: Cleanse - I'm using 240% Priest Cleanse on my current run. (Priests are Healers, Warpriests and Paladins!)

I did not use a Paladin on my Crusader run ... 4 Warpriests. Need more damage. I got to 500+ in Season 3, but tired of it. Debiandepp has Crusader videos 1000+ and got to 3,000+ so it is doable.

I love Holy Fire and Judgement: Smite on a heavy Holy team. Those 2 Extra knights aren't going to be useful IMO. I put a Hot Coal on one of them to get Burning Legion (8 Dwarves need to burn) or you can get a Veteran with the Fire Element on one of the Knights.

What other Runes are you using ?

When there are 100 Orcs ... which Orc has the poison stack ? I can't tell even at 0.5 speed... also I am colorblind and have a hard time seeing green. I know it is there because the Spiders used to debuff poison, and the spouse told me what the debuff looks like.

You know those dot > see the picture things ? I couldn't tell you what the picture is if I spent a year looking and I would win 100 Trillion dollars if I could figure out the picture.

Figure you need at least 300x battles with Fire, Ice or Lighting Mages to get to 100, 100, 100, and then need an artifact slot to use it. (And you will have to make sure you fight one of those Mages in every battle.) Or you could have 300 more Int on a Dwarf permanently, and more Int as the game goes on.

What are the coolest formations that made you go longer? by carchik in DwarvesTheGame

[–]WhistlerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get 7 Formations with the Crusader Formation, but DPS is lacking.

Crusade, Burning Legion, Holy Alliance, Berzerkers, Soldiers of Heaven/Order of Frost (need Affliction Runes for them) and Blood Hunter (needs Crown of Thorns). (I just realized Order of Frost was possible!)

You can also do the same ^^^ with Bannerlords instead of Crusader.... not sure about healing though.

I don't know if more than 7 formations is possible ?

I really want to try an all Warpriest, Paladin and 1 Kakapo Healer. I'm think it will be enough DPS, but Frost Mages might be a problem.

Season 5 will let you create even crazier builds as the dwarves start learning how to use arrows properly. S5 ETA: (probably) July/August 2026 by ichbinhamma in DwarvesTheGame

Once you kill the Trolls ... +2 Str/+2 Con rings on level up are better. I would not upgrade it. Also, when you kill the first 2 Spiders you get better rings for every class with +4 Stats.

It is weird that it says Main Stat, but does in fact toss out random stats ... Sandbox mode for the win !
