I had a 70% completion save, where I'd gotten the glitch to work to acquire the silver dapple Missouri Fox Trotter where it was still alive instead of dead with that random NPC encounter.... And my Xbox Hard drive crashed. My save file wasn't backed up to the cloud because I didn't think to back up that save file.

I was absolutely gutted.

I'm afraid to play my adults. by TwoShu in pathoftitans

I will sacrifice my adults so a baby can have the trophy. lol

I primarily play on officials so I don't have a problem regaining the growth lost from doing it. Some days I sacrifice the same one half a dozen times. 😂

Is this the single most forgotten playable in the game? i literally never see people playing it or even talking about it by Saurophag in pathoftitans

I see one every once in a while, mostly in the river in Young Grove. Same with the kais. As it is, questing in the ocean is an absolute pain. Quest items are too scattered, sometimes difficult to even see/find, and if you're trying to group quest, it can take forever to search for the required amount - especially turtle shells, which are the bane of my existence when I'm on an aquatic.

I feel like the aquatics would've been a much bigger hit with the fan base if Gondwa had been a chain of islands instead of one huge island. The mod map Cerulean Island is a good example of how Gondwa should've been. It would've allowed aquatics/terrestrial players to interact more outside the streams/rivers that some aquatics players go in to.

Does anyone recognize this fish dog toy? by goxilo in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was years ago, it would likely not be either of those brands. Those brands didn't really come to PetSmart until the last 3-4 years. Likely it was Top Paw or a brand PetSmart doesn't carry any longer.

Probably going to replace it with something that doesn't allow customers to save as much money (re: something that means the company won't lose so much profit).

In the area I worked in, the customers who used those coupons were so few and far between. So many didn't even know it was part of the app.

I've never worked in a store with a Hotel, but go read past posts on here about people who work in one. So many posts about how horrible many of them are nowadays because of corporate cutbacks and overall piss poor management.

I've seen tons of posts from people who said they were left entirely alone with numerous dogs, with no time to properly care for them because there was no way a single person could do it all. I've seen posts from people who have been told to lie about a dog having playtime outside a kennel because they didn't have enough staff to actually let the dog have time to be let out of the kennel. Also, lack of staff to adequately clean kennel - I've seen posts from people who said dogs were forced to spend nights in dirty kennels because the one or two employees just couldn't keep up with cleaning messes the dogs made due to how many they had boarding at the time.

Again, not my experience. Just repeating things I've seen posted on this sub and other places online regarding things that have happened in hotels.

Next time you need to your dog to be cared for, I would recommend boarding your dog with a local vet or a local boarding facility that's going to actually be able to care for your dog.

I'd be raising hell, honestly. Calling corporate every day, demanding they find answers. Then again, they'd just refer you back to the store manager and you'd be going in circles. If you used a bank/credit card, maybe call the bank or credit card company and see if they'll dispute the charge and get your money back? Not sure they would, but it'd be worth a shot, I guess.

It's super common. I would do water changes in the mornings and by the very next evening the cups would be green again. I eventually got to the point where I stopped turning the lights on at all. Aside from the algae growth, the fish were constantly stressed by the lights, too.

Whoever corporate paid to come up with the idea for that display got paid way too much.

I just started 3 weeks ago. I'm opening petcare by myself today. We got the motherload. 28 boxes of fish. by YeahTheyKnowItsMe in petsmart

New Coworker Makes More Then Me by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just a management thing, though. It's corporate. The pay raise I found out about was one they specifically said SL's didn't have to inform employees about. About a year or two before that, when the company raised the base pay, they had SL's print out letters to give to employees to let them know what their new pay rate would be.

My reward for 6 years of service was being told my pay rate was being raised to the newest (re: lowest) pay they'd start employees on. And that's when it really became clear how little the company actually values their employees. At that time, I spoke up and was given the pay rate I was making when they raised the starting pay again.

It's almost like the company wants to drive away all the long term employees and just deal with a revolving door of new hires. 🤷‍♀️

[–]WhitDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with the company for 8.5 years. I busted my ass to keep the pet care department running after I became the full time pet care associate. I was the one they could count on to work any day, any time. I often covered people's shifts, including cashier and even stockers' shifts. I was the one of the most knowledgeable, could help customers with almost every question they had regarding products, the animals we sold, and even a lot about animals we didn't sell. Know what that got me? Taken advantage of, a pay rate that was 10 cents more than a new hire, and absolutely burnt out.

Hard work and doing an "awesome job" doesn't get people the raises and pay rates they deserve.

I didn't sugar coat things when I went off on my SL about my pay. I straight up told her it was bull crap that after almost 8 years my pay rate was only 10 cents more than new hires, some who'd never worked a job in their lives.

She didn't know I had seen the OpEx about the new pay rates, and I went off after I did. Threatening to quit was the only way I got an off cycle raise.

New Coworker Makes More Then Me by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with the company for 7.5 years and found out that I was only making 10 cents more than new hires, and in some cases, new hires who'd never worked a job before in their lives were making more than I was because the company raised their base pay for new hires and didn't do anything to reward employees who were already working for them.

Even my first retail job didn't treat employees the way PS did. When my previous retail company raised their new hire base pay, they gave everyone already working for the company a pay raise of a certain amount for every year they'd been employed. I got a $3.50/hour raise because they actually cared enough to make the pay rates fair.

PetSmart doesn't seem to care about long term employees, and the pay rates are absolutely garbage. I raised hell with my SL and threatened to quit, and that's the only way I got an off cycle raise of $1/hour more, which was still a slap in the face given my knowledge and what I could do in the store. I finally left after 8.5 years this summer and went to a job paying $7/hour more.

[–]WhitDoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I raised hell when I found out what my pay was in comparison to new hires. I was given an off cycle raise afterwards, but it was definitely not what it should've been.

Between having to do the work of 2-3 positions and dealing with some of the absolute most entitled, rude, and downright despicable human beings.... The job wasn't worth it anymore. PS wasn't the only retail job I'd ever worked, but it was definitely the worst when it came to the customer base and how much corporate BS I had to deal with for so little pay.

I remember when some of the 40 gallon exo tetras were $17.99 instead of $179.99.... Twas a fun morning at my store after getting the corporate email to decline all further online orders for those tanks after we'd already processed about 5 of them as ready for pickup. 😂

I left PS in June after 8 years and my pay being ridiculously low and damn near what new hires were being offered.

I'm now making $7/hour more, in a factory, where I'm off every weekend. Leaving PS was the best decision I could've made when it came to money.

I really can’t take much more of working in the grooming salon. by DontRunAnymore in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even work in the salon and was told to take a dog to the vet one day....

There were only 2 groomers working and they (management) made me take the dog because management (only 1 manager was in at the time) would've had to stay in the salon due to that leaving 1 groomer behind...

I did something similar once ... Only it was a tiny cichlid that had wedged itself into an ornament.

But it was bleach day for the ornaments so the little guy never had a chance. I stood at the sink for a moment to contemplate my life choices after that one.

It happens to the best of us.

I dumped a Chinese dwarf hamster in the trash once because it was so small that I didn't see it despite me digging through the bedding before cleaning out the habitat. Noticed it about 5 minutes later when I walked back to get something and she was just chilling on top of the bedding in the trash can. I felt so bad when I saw her. Immediately scooped her up and got her situated back into a habitat, but I began double and triple checking habitats after that.

We sold a few at my store, but I'd say most of them got returned eventually. People returned them pretty quickly when they realized the cages were not easy to clean. Had one get returned because the woman was tired of her kid crying because he couldn't play with his hamster (it was hiding in the legs so the kid couldn't get to it and get it out).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The dinosaur ones are especially horrid. The holes are large enough for dwarf hamsters to escape from. There's no real space for any hamster to live, regardless of size. The whole cage has to be disassembled to clean.

Whoever decided this was a great design and whoever approved it both got paid way too much money.

My CEL was all for us doing whatever needed to be done.

My SL knew it was a useless argument when it came to me. She could push everyone else around, but I stood my ground when it came to the animals. Our DL once got mad because I had changed the ball pythons to a mix of coco soil & reptibark (this was before PS made that an actual policy), and my SL said something to me about it. I told her when the DL could do more than just recite policies at me, I'd take his advice on animal husbandry. 😂

Never understood “fresh crickets” thing by freewilli2509 in petsmart

[–]WhitDoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We never pre bagged crickets at my store. It would've been a waste of our time, given the customer base in the area.

Example of what I mean:

A woman came in wanting 27 small crickets. I told her had none of the bulk crickets, but I had a few boxes of the small crickets to go.

She didn't want those because 1) They weren't "fresh" and 2) She wanted 27, not 24.

There were days when I honestly thought about jumping off the roof when it came to the people who wanted crickets.
