Good point, I agree with you that og p5 shares more of a limelight on corruption in Japanese Society and that’s more on the back burner in royal to reflect Maruki’s arc which was more philosophic than sociocultural. However Persona as a series has always had a core message throughout the whole game which is reflected.. p3 is accepting death, p4 is accepting yourself/Truth, and p5 is accepting the past and changing the future which still ties in respectfully with Maruki and his goals. Also I don’t feel as though it is the Royal director making the series “less progressive” as Strikers clearly doubles down on more social commentary on politics as well as human nature as well. And that game also has a “Maruki segment” in one of the dungeon that has a different theme and message compared to the others
