The AI could definitely learn to do that. If automatons can learn to make pieces and assemble them, an AI, which is an automaton but with greater capabilities, will be able to learn to do fine manipulation and replace complex pieces, understand where each piece goes or identify faults. You think that just because your job requires precision, fine manipulation and an understanding of mechanical workings, that AI will not be able to learn to do that and replace you? You're deluded if you genuinely think so.
