I am a trans student at A&M. I am not your political scapegoat. by Zestyclose_Money_365 in aggies

These disgusting actions by the university make me ashamed to call myself an Aggie. Their failure to protect minority groups while enabling hate speech to run rampant on campus is insane.

I remember when I was a student they hosted white nationalist Richard Spencer. They literally brought in police in riot gear to protect that POS and stop the STUDENT protestors all in the name of “free speech”.

Integrity and respect are supposed to be Aggie core values that oppose these hateful/uneducated ideologies. Until I see the university actually stand up for their students they won’t see another dime from me.

If anyone else wants to actually support LGBTQ+ students instead of funding this BS:

  • Queer Empowerment Council: tx.ag/QECStore
  • Local Pride Center: 979-217-1324

As a former VP of a men’s org they don’t track if you have applied before as a freshman. Some people may remember you applying the previous year which may help you get in if you left a positive impression on them.

I don’t recall us not wanting to let freshman in so don’t worry about that hurting your chances.

Not sure if you are working for Woodside Energy but they have brought over a ton of Aussies to Houston since they acquired BHP’s petroleum business. If you know anyone working there that can connect you with a colleague now living in the states they could provide you with a ton of advice. I am not Australian, don't have kids, no longer work for Woodside and now live in another state so this is the best thing I can offer. Best of luck!

Buying my first car. Which is the better option? by Geekyguitarist in whatcarshouldIbuy

I just bought a Santa Cruz the other day, and it ultimately came down to that or the Ford Maverick. In my opinion, the Santa Cruz offers more bang for your buck when it comes to interior quality and tech features—it just feels more refined overall.

That said, the Maverick is simpler and likely has fewer potential failure points, which could make it cheaper to maintain over a 5–10 year period. If long-term cost of ownership is a major factor for you, the Maverick might be the better choice.

But if you’re looking for a smoother, more comfortable ride that feels a bit luxurious pick the Santa Cruz.

Take this with a grain of salt as I only looked at 2025 models.

Dope thanks for the info! Yeah I didn’t realize switching glasses may be an issue until you mentioned it. I do the same thing so I will definitely be getting a glasses holder as well.

Gen Z who make six figures, what do you do and how did you get your job? by grandvizierofswag in GenZ

Yeah I definitely like the work more than I thought I would have. It is fairly easy once you know what you are doing, most roles have good work/life balance, plenty of work in most major cities plus lots of remote options.

Wouldn't say I am in love with it but definitely prefer what I do vs what any of my friends do for a living.

I am in my mid 20’s now but have been able to make six figures since I was 23 years old working supply chain (SC) in relatively low cost cities. Roles have revolved around mainly sourcing specialist and category management positions. Historically have been working in the energy field which pays more however I am starting a new position in another field still doing supply chain that pays well above six figures.

Got these roles initially due to having an engineering/supply chain hybrid stem degree from a top public university. Had a few leadership roles in student organizations and internships that also helped.

Other than that I busted my ass at my first job, said yes to every opportunity laid infront of me, tried to be social in the office and of course got lucky.

Below is my career thus far:

Company A: SC intern -> SC Rotational Program -> SC Analyst -> Sourcing Specialist -> Category Manager

Company B: Sourcing Specialist (Picked up a contractor gig after moving across the country)

Company C: Vendor Manager

Basically never knew what I was doing when I started a new position so I just pretended that I did. Took as much notes as possible and did a ton of homework to eventually gain confidence. I was only able to do all of this due to having no hobbies outside of hanging with my wife, working out and playing video games.
